I cut and pasted this quote from a e-mail I got from a friend of mine who is a prince who lives in Saudi. I have known him for around 10 years. He is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met.

He had a discussion with an American man in Riyadh where the American was trying to buddy buddy up to him by bashing America (his home country) and the Jews. This is only part of a long e-mail he sent me. He will probably already kick my butt for sharing a personal e-mail with out asking but I am willing to do that to maybe help educate people.

"what I don't like is that some guys come to me and as soon as they know that I'm Saudi they automatically start cursing the Jews or the Americans and they think that we will be jumping on them and be their best friends, it's like some very funny man once said "you're either with us or with the terrorists" the world is full of colures it's not always black or white."

I have many friends from Saudi and although there is plenty i don't agree with there are plenty of good people there with in the government as well as average people. Don't generalize please.

I have been stranded with no food and a Arab fed me. I have had no money an my family was un-able to help and an Arab helped me. I have need a shoulder to cry on and when no one was there an Arab lent me their shoulder. When I had no home and amongst the list of people that I had helped left me to hang dry and wouldn't help me it was and Arab who gave me a home to live in.

There is plenty of good to be said. One of the pillars of islam is based on charity. It is not a religion of hate. it is unfortunate that there are people in this world that have perverted it to look that way.

As far as my friend who sent the e-mail goes, he is around 29 and studied in the states. He is the total tall (which is hard to find with Arabs) dark and handsome kind sweet smart and a Prince. I mean honestly girls loved him but he wasn't a playboy type.

Although he would go out he was not a big boozer nor was he big into having lots of women. He is a little bit shy and had a close knit group of friends (this is all from when he was in the states). He is now married with a son. I haven't seen him for years but now and then we e-mail. He is just a really wonderful person and eveyone that I have ever met that knows him says the same.

There is a ton of corruption in the Saudi Royal family but I think that with 9000+ members there is bound to be a few bad seeds. Mind you no matter how low on the totem pole a prince is he is still a Prince. He will still get diplomatic passports and privileges and get monthly stipends from the government. Also if you have a wife and children you get more. That is why some of these princes are eager to get on their way with the popping out of babies

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - The wife of Saudi Arabia's crown prince defended wearing the veil, compulsory for women in the kingdom, saying in a rare interview published Tuesday that women are happy with the traditional garb.

Princess Hasah al-Shalaan praised her husband, Crown Prince Abdullah, for supporting women and their rights in the conservative kingdom.

``He doesn't distinguish (between his sons and daughters), and always says that a woman has her rights, given to her by God and Islam, so why should we take them away from her,'' she said in the interview with the Arab daily al-Hayat.

She also defended the wearing of the veil, saying, ``I ask God to maintain the blessing (of the veil). This modest, conservative dress makes people equal and is a symbol of our religion.''

``We respect our traditions and culture and the religion of others; why doesn't the West respect our reality and life and thoughts? Everyone must know that, especially for woman, we have our traditions and culture and we will not give them up. The Saudi woman is generally happy with this situation.''

The paper published a picture of the crown prince with the interview, but did not carry a photograph of his wife. The wives of senior Saudi officials rarely give interviews to the media and are not often seen in public.

I have to be honest, that with the exception of the SRF's oil interests and wealth, I don't know much about them in general. I can only name the King and Crown Prince and I have no idea who are brothers or fathers and sons. It's very confusing. I also know that there are strict rules and laws in Saudia Arabia governing the decorum of women but I would really like to see or at least know more about the female members of this family. I understand that they must keep a low profile, but who are they? Does anyone have any more information about this family.
What are their interests that do not involve oil and money?

The reason why I wrote the post that I did was derived from previous posts on this thread discussing the democrats and the republicans (even though I do have to admit that most of those posts were linked to the Saudi Royal family), although one of them was praising the republicans and more specifically George Bush. I realize that this website is centered more around discussion specifically about royal families instead of presidents or prime ministers, but since I don't remember seeing a post warning against previous content about American politicians that wasn't written by me (I don't know whether there was a warning or not), I had assumed that it was alright to post what I did.

Thanks lala and yw lol and Bubbette, as for the rest of your arguments/allegations, I wouldn't mind discussing those issues with you outside of this message board/website.

I appreciate your mature attitude with regards to this matter. I'm sorry that we must insist that discussions of this kind do not take place here but we really are a royalty forum. We have found more times than not that discussions on politics erupt into fights of the worst kind, hence our 'no politics policy.' Thank you for understanding.
