On the arrival the king and queen laid flowers to the grave of prince Eugen. The Association of Friends of the Artists was founded in 1937 and prince Eugen's was its chairman until his death.

Later on Monday the king and queen attended at SIPRI:s (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) Lecture on Peace and Security at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. This was the first lecture, which is planned to be held annually. The lecturer this year was 89-year old Hans Blix, Swedish diplomat and politician for the Liberal People's Party. He was Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs and later became the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
