Also Mariposa, do you know if he was enrolled in the School of Foreign Service, or did he do International Politics? We are all very much obliged to you for these tidbits of information, thank you very much!

PS: Maybe somebody could lookout for any announcements for the graduation ceremony and check if his name is on the list?

Oh goodness Mariposa, thank you for all that information! You're truly a gem! We would never have learnt all this if not for you.

When was the graduation ceremony? I wonder why he did not attend. Do you suppose it could've been for security reasons? Was he in Jordan at that time?

haha don't thank me, I'm just passing on info from my friend who actually knew him and hung out with him a bit. We think he didn't go to the ceremony because of security mostly, because he attended the ceremony for another branch of the school earlier in the morning, (May 21 by the way) He was on campus until the beginning of June, and my friend said he told her he was going back to Jordan, I don't know if for good, but at least for a while.

Did your friend say what he was like. I know he was studious. He sound slike a really nice guy.

She said he was like really really polite, and he was nice, and even gave her a lift home one time. Also, he was rather serious and not very talkative, but that might have been because like I said he didn't know her very well. I feel like maybe he was very studious because he was so different from the typical american college student, so he concentrated on his studies and didnt concern himself with the social aspect of college too much, like partying and going out all the time

Has any of the other Jordanian Royal members been to Australia I know Queen Noor did, she worked in Sydney and Princess Haya was in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, but has Prince Hashim ever been to Australia.

Hmm...do you think he was very serious b/c he was trying to get out of there. Not that he didn't like it there. I am sure he did. But that he just wanted to get back to Jordan to assume his responsibilities? Also was he very religious? I am glad to know he did not party too much. That kind of stuff can mess up a person's focus. He seems like a very focused individual.

I think that was definitely possible, I think he didn't really enjoy college and was ready to get it over with, in general. My friend said he was very very religious, and went to prayers all the time. He was very conservative, he definitely didn't party a lot, didn't like to go out and clubbing and stuff and I'm pretty sure he didnt date anyone at Georgetown

thankyou Mariposa, for the information!! so u know what kind of freinds he had? Jordanians, Americans....

Can you tell us more. Like did he hang out with any Americans? ALso anything else that you can divulge. Thank you for all.

kinda of weird, isn't it? He has been studying in US since age 11, so I assume he has got lots of american friends and g/fs, maybe he has been changing the last years, it's just both the brothers want to reject the N. American part of them.

I hate to disappoint but I'm afraid I don't know much more... It seemed like he pretty much only hung out with Jordanians, often not even Georgetown students...obviously he talked to Americans (like my friend, but they only hung out a couple of times). He never talked about being a royal, ever, and she said you never would have guessed he was anything other than a regular international student except that he had a cool car with diplomatic tags (which she got to ride in!)

A car w/ diplomatic tags! WOw! SO he could park anywhere?!? But how did he get that? I know he is the son of a king and queen, but...
Anyway, I am a bit disappointed that he did not have American friends. I really wish he did. That kind of makes me sad. I just don't understand why he would not want American friends. So does your friend have anymore contact w/ him or is it the end sine he left Georgetown. Also what was his hair like and how did he dress? Ok I really did not mean that question (but if you know the answer, don't hesitate to). So did your friiend know of any Americans that he hanged out with at all? Thank you.

hahahaha i thought everyone here was already was in love with him.;) I didn't get to meet him but my friend thought he was pretty cool, but she said he was really really intense, like always stressed out, but again that might be because he didn't know her that well. He pretty much only hung out with other jordanians, or some of the international students she said. I should get her to join this and talk about meeting him.:D

no escort, no bodyguards, I'm sure he had them.

Thank you a thousands times, this was the best thing you could tell us about him;)

Oh I have to agree with you on that.

I'm not surprised that he's the religious sort, I mean looking at all his public appearances wearing Arabian garb, and when they take pics of him doing his prayers, he looks very khusyuk (absorbed in prayer). And I'm very glad that he's not the fast and furious kind of guy, since most Arab princes with cash to burn take advantage of their names/titles to live a decadent life.

By the way, since he hangs out with jordanians a lot and other international students, is he more comfortable speaking arab or english? Which seems more like his first language?

I think they probably had American friends, but maybe their closest friends were non-Americans

He didn't have any bodyguards, the only time he might have would have been when King Abdullah came for his honorary degree. I think the other Jordanians definitely had American friends, but my friend got the impression that P.Hashim didn't like hanging out with Americans very much at all, and really didn't hang out with Georgetown students. I mean, he was older than most people in his class...

Thank you beaucoup Mariposa! :) Another random question, any idea what type of car it was?

According to Georgetown people, he wore his hair kind of longish, wore Jeans and t-shirts or polo shirts a lot. Sounds like a typical american college boy. His car was a Silver GM Yukon (SUV)

It seems like there are a lot of Muslims at Georgetown U---and it also seems like all the Jordanian royals end up attending Georgetown sooner or later!:)

I know they are in the army ,Hamzah is a major, will they have a role in the J army?

HI all this is my first posting. Maybe P.Hamzah will go back to his unit which he was in charge of. But i guess he may have bigger role to play. Also for P. Hashem he is i think a first liuetnant or captian, so there is possibiltiy for him to go back there.

Any talk on his recent interest in traditional dress?

Prince Hashim was at King Fahad's funeral but I can't find any picture for him

Have other brothers been sworn in as regent? What will he do during his regency? I imagine it will be a short one lol.

yes Hamzah and Feisal have frequently been sworn in as regents, and Ali has too I believe a few times. Im not sure if Hashem has been regent before. I dont recall seeing any pics of Petra.

What do they do during their regency? I know what it means, but it seems almost casual here lol.

hmm.... I dont know if they get to do that much, especially if K.Abdullah's away only for a day or two.

Oh well, good enough I guess lol. At least the King has plenty of back-up.

They basically act as the head of state in the country while the king is gone. But I'm sure that they don't make any important decisions for him unless he's really unable to make them. Hamzah was always sworn in as regent when the king left because he was CP. Now it seems that it's always either Ali or Faisal.

Here are pics from, I believe 2001 of when Hashim was regent. I am so happy he is regent. I believe this was from an earlier Petra.gov.jo

But in the petra pic that was posted today, on his outfit his name is on it: Hashim bin Al Hussein:)

Gosh you know what. I just remembered the last time PHashim was regent, the Israeli embassy in Jordan was attacked or something like that. He seemed to handle the situation well.

But upon thinking on this, I think it was respectable to have the next most senior male royal to offer condolences to the family and to be there.

You know, this has been on my mind a long time ago. Does it seem as if PHashim was more in the scene b/f PHamzah was stripped of his crown princely title than now?
