You're right. 1991 was the year the salic law was abolished, so that princess Astrid became 3rd in the line of succession; her husband, her children and future children were granted the title of prince of Belgium.

At the very least any children will be Archdukes and Archduchesses of Austria-Este. Whether they will be Princes and Princesses of Belgium will be up to the King, They probably won't be as the dynasty is secure and there is no pressing need for more 'de Belgiques'.

A law in Belgium was issued years ago, who said all the descendants of the current king of Belgians were to be princes(ses) of Belgium. Which means the grand-child of princess Astrid will not have lesser titles. And means to the illegitimate daughter of the king could, if she's recognized by her father, ask for the title of princess of Belgium.

PRINCE AMEDEO GETS TO GRIPS WITH LIFE IN LONDON

It would appear William and Harry aren't the only royal heart-throbs who call London home, as Belgium's Prince Amedeo has also been turning heads around the British capital. The 19-year-old, who is the eldest son of Princess Astrid and her husband Archduke Lorenz, has bid farewell to his homeland and taken up residence in the UK in order to continue his studies.

Amedeo is currently getting into the swing of student life as a first year undergraduate at the London School of Economics. And the teenager obviously shares his British counterparts' love of the rugby field, as newly-released photographs show him strutting his stuff in a match with fellow students.

I suppose that Princess Astrid and Archiduke Lorenz named him after his great-grandfather Prince Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta, the Duke d'Aosta and father of Amedeo's grandmother, Princess Margherita.

Edit: Also Amedeo come from latin Amadeus and means God's love.

He can marry whoever he wants; the Habsburg rules would only apply to the rank and style of his wife and children. In any case these rules have been much relaxed by the Archduke Otto in recent years, and most Archducal marriages have been declared "equal".

As far as I know, he born in Brussels, but was raised until he was about 7 years old in Bassel (Switzeland) then he went to Brussels where he live until he was 15. At his 15 years old he moved to Kent (UK) and at 18 he returned for a year to Brussels. Now he is living in London.

You get to see Amedeo near the end of the clip when the Pope asks him what he is studing and he replies "Mangement". Even though there is a commentry, you can still hear his voice

PS: I know what I'm about to write has nothing to do with the topic of this thread but...please don't get upset...It's my BIRTHDAY tommorow ...I also have a huge test tommorow which really sucks because I'm really worried that i won't remember all the stuff that i need to pass it (wish me luck, please) [only bright side tommorow: it's my 16th B'Day ].
