I would like Mette-Marit to wear bright colours like pink and white :ermm:
I agree. She lookes so pretty in bright colours. During the 70th Birthday celebrations of King Harald she looked perfect!
Anyway I like the jacket she wore for this engagement.
I think it's great to see Sonja and Mette-Marit out together. :flowers:

Funny et Lovely pics Thanks

Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon listening to Al Gores lecture Partnership for Sustainable Devellopment in Oslo today. Today Queen Sonja called the minster of forreign affaris Jonas Gahr Støre and asked is she could come, as we can see she got a non exisiting ticket for her and her son;)
Denne gangen fikk kona være med

Thanks for the link, Larzen.
It's great to see mother and son out together.

Apparently, the royal family makes the Norwegian people happy. This was found out in a serious research project on what makes people happy  And the viking heritage also plays in. This was reported in one of the most serious Norwegian newspapers, so I guess it's serious even though we might wonder otherwise.

New Holocaust Center opened

The new Center for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities located on the outskirts of Oslo will be officially opened on Wednesday. Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette Marit will attend the opening.
The Center is located at Villa Grande on Bygdoey, residence of Nazi collaborator Vidkun Quisling during World War II.

Dinner for the Bishops - 2007

The King and Queen will host a dinner for the bishops of Norway on the 11th of October at 20:00. The Crown Prince and Princess will also be present.

The current Norwegian bishops are:
Finn Wagle - bishop in Nidaros
Odd Bondevik - bishop in Møre
Ole D. Hagesæther - bishop in Bjørgvin
Ernst Oddvar Baasland - bishop in Stavanger
Ole Christian Kvarme - bishop in Oslo - formerly bishop in Borg
Olav Skjevesland - bishop in Agder & Telemark
Per Oskar Kjølaas - bishop in Nord-Hålogaland
Laila Riksaasen Dahl - bishop in Tunsberg
Helga Haugland Byfuglien - bishop in Borg
Solveig Fiske - bishop in Hamar
Tor Berger Jørgensen - bishop in Sør-Hålogaland

It seems there were no pictures taken during this dinner since it was private...

Never from the bishop dinner:hammer: Except in 2004 they showed a little glimpse on the Year with the Royal family. Then the King said it was a tradition King Haakon started that this gala dinner for the bishops was completely private and this was a tradtion he and his father had kept. In the images one could see all the bishops in their robes, Haakon and Harald in white tie and Mette-Marit and Sonja in long dresses and tiaras. And then The dinner started by the bishop singing some traditional hymn. They were all sitting around a quite small candel-light table

There are always pictures from the Gala Dinner for Stortinget, often from the gala dinner for diplomats and sometimes from the dinner for county men.

Do you have to be a member of the Royal Guard to attend this service?
Isn't that a woman escorting King H.?

Reception in honour of Gunnar Sønsteby's 90th anniversary

His Majesty The King, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince, Her Highness Princess Ragnhild and Her Highness Princess Astrid attend reception in honour of war hero Gunnar Sønsteby's 90th anniversary, Akershus Castle
kongehuset.no - Gunnar Sønsteby 90 år

Gunnar Sønsteby's such a modest man that he tried to avoid being at the reception. His comment: "I looked through the phonebook to find someone else, but I didn't." He also said that he doesn't think of himself as a war hero, but thinks of this as a tribute to all the Norwegian resistance during the war.

He's one of the most highly decorated Norwegians, today.

It seems an american TV channel that was interviewing Haakon was present at the dinner, here are some screen caps.

Maybe the reason ti was secret was the ugly gowns:lol: Sonjas dress must be from the dark ages and Mette-Marits dress from the homepage with an added black/purpel belt is not really a hit.

What do I see glittering on Sonja's head? The Malteser Tiara with all crosses. :D

Mette-Marit's outfit looked horrible. I never liked this pink galadress.. but it looks even worse with this black belt.
I cannot remember the Queen's dress... It must be something new .. or something really old. ;)

thanks for pictures, unfortunately they do no show properly the outfits of both ladies. but what am I about to say is that I liked Mette-Marit's dress. it seems nice. she always looked well in pink. Recall the dress in Thailand. maybe this outfit is the same, not sure.

Yes, it is the same dress.
It is the same dress as in this picture: kongehuset.no - Forsiden

That dress is very simple and elegant. She looks wonderful in pink. She should wear pink more often.
