I think it's Beatrix's but it's been kept in very nice condition (much like Beatrix's engagement dress that Mabel wore and IT looks like new too). On page 3 of this thread, there were a couple of people who seemed to recall Beatrix wearing this dress, and also, Maxima herself said it was her mother-in-law's dress. I'm just desperate to see a comparison photo with Beatrix wearing the dress in all it's 1960's glory! :p

The red hat and jacket were also worn in Turkey, with a pink scarf and skirt. I liked that combination better, but for a more informal visit like this one the funny dress is highly suitable. Can't wait to see Maxima dressed up for the wedding (I like big hats), and I hope she will attend at least the tiara events for the state visits of the russian president and the king and queen of Jordan, in November.

from the first day i saw that hat and jacket in turkey i fell in love with it and was wondering when it would be that she wears those again!
the pattern of the skirt isn't my cup of tea, but i loved the detail of her combining it with the foulard....

Why isn't Maxima formally known as the Princess of Orange
On the Royal family's official website, she is referred to as Princess Maxima. How come she is not known as the Princess of Orange? Also was she made a princess in her own right, unlike Laurentien and Mabel? Could someone please answer these questions for me. Many thanks.

Mabel and Laurentien are not princesses in their own rights, Maxima is the only one who is. No official reason is given for Maxima not be named princess of Orange but I assume that the title is only for the heir. So when we have a king Willem IV, Catharina-Amalia will become the princess of Orange. to prevent her husband to become prince of Orange the title is only available for the heir and not for their spouse.

On NOS teletekt it is stated that 7 young dutch/(wo)men from maroccan descent will join the prince and princess iduring their visit to Marocco. This will be financed by the Orange Fund and apparently was done on the initiative of the court. I appreciate the idea behind this gesture, let's hope it wil do some good.

I like her hair pulled back off her face because she has such pretty and expressive eyes and I think they are shown off better when her hair is that way. Also nice that W-A is there for the gala and to be supportive -- isn't microfinance really M's area not his?

I totally agree with you on that one! Her face becomes much more expressive with her hair pulled back.

correct, Maxima is a UN-advisor on this topic while the crownprince doesn't have to do anything with it...
