I'm very glad she kept the dress very simple. If she hadn't, it would have over powered her tiny frame and would have been way to much. She looks very regal tonight.

Perfect dress to highlight the jewels and the big sash.
Other than that, it's a nice dress and black is a colour that suits her. I just had wished a different neckline.

the tiara is superbig and will look big on anybody's head, therefore the dress had to be simple but I dislike the neckline, like a t-shirt. Somehow the outfit gives me the 'maid' vibe, with the black dress the tiara looks like a bonnet, apron is missing.

Not a bad look as I've seen other pics. I generelly agree with the opinions on the neckline.

now that is a tiara . A "busy" dress would have been too much.
agree on the neckline.
Maybe not the right thread, but should the sash be that big? Compared to the First lady of Argentina, the sash looks very big.

OMG...the First Lady of Argentina's gown is to die for!
I agree with An Ard Ri...I have seen Letizia make more of an impact in her gala evening wear.

Nice dress to let the tiara shine. I suspect she will alter it at some point with more features to give it more outings when her tiara isn't as overpowering. Wonder if Juliana anda felt that tiara was power dressing at best, her dress is good but nothing truly special in my opinion.

Queen Letizia tried hard to impress the guests with regal simple elegance. However, she lacked poise. The dress per se was all right.

I wondered the same thing. The jewelry is big and needs the simplicity of the dress. But the sash seems overwhelming.

Love the entire look! Glad that she kept the dress simple.
The First Lady looks amazing too.

Letitia is wearing the Argentina's Order of the Liberator General San Martín. Some sashes have slimmer versions for women - this one doesn't. So she didn't have a choice.
Dont like the black. Deep red or blue would have been beautiful. But she looks v elegant

Perfect choice to show off the jewels and not overwhelm her small figure. The First Lady needed a necklace

Black is not for widows or mourners only. The fashion industry has made a fortune off the 'little black dress' and that isn't a line of funeral clothes. Black is considered a chic even regent evening color.
The dress is simple but regal.
Yes she has more wow gowns, but tonight was obviously about showing off the jewels. A gown like the First Lady may have been more glamorous, but the effect if the jewels would be lost. The point was to let them shine and they did.
As for the tiara all I can say is wow. Shocked to see it but she is stunning in it. She can pull off a big gun tiara. Love the bracelets as well.

Wow! The tiara is beautiful and Letizia wore it very nicely. I know the dress had to stay simple and plain because of the tiara but the dress was just too boring IMO, it was plain. Maybe if it had a fuller skirt. The sash was way too big, she looked lost wearing it.

Well I don't think Letizia has any control on the size of the sash. That one you have to give her a pass on.

Letizia needed a necklace. Would have pulled it all together with a pop! She looks lovely, though. Very sleek.
I agree with those commenting on the First Lady's gown. Delicious.

I love the tiara and although I am not fan of her black dress , may be the choice is because of this sash so big! Now the dress of Juliana is to die for! I wish she would have put something on her her! a broche of diamonds, perhaps?
