The royal court about the Forum:
Global Child Forum 2018 - Sveriges Kungahus
Translation

King Carl Gustaf said in his speech:
Over the past nine years, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: Business impacts children. And therefore, we must let children impact business.
Leaders of the corporate and finance sectors are in a unique position to protect and advance children’s rights. And indeed, much is being done. Across the globe, many companies are making a positive difference for children.
Still, this is not good enough. The work for children’s rights is not keeping pace with the scale of challenges faced by children and young people today.
The speech (english)
H.M. Konungens välkomsttal vid Global Child Forum, Rikssalen, Kungliga Slottet, onsdagen den 11 april 2018 - Sveriges Kungahus

Crown princess Victoria said in her speech:
“I want to be teacher.” “I want to be a doctor.” “I want to make my family proud.” “I want to see my family again.”
An autumn day in 2015, Prince Daniel and I visited a center for unaccompanied migrant children in Nacka, just outside of Stockholm. They were teenagers who had fled war and conflict in their home countries to seek refuge in Sweden.
Their futures were uncertain. But their dreams and goals were crystal clear.
Meeting these young people, and so many others in the same situation, hearing them speak about their hopes for the future; it made a deep impression.
During these two years, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: Children’s rights are not just part of the global goals. No: children’s rights are what the Global Goals are all about.

Global Child Forum has published a video of the Forum at the Royal Palace on 11th April. Victoria gets a prominent role at the video.
Global Child Forum is the proud recipient of an IKEA Foundation grant totalling 38.5 million SEK, fortifying the organization’s efforts to ensure that children’s rights are supported and advanced among the corporate sector.
The four-year IKEA Foundation grant is a renewal of a relationship initiated in 2013, underscoring IKEA Foundations’ conviction in Global Child Forum’s work and impact.
“The private sector has an important role to play in fostering solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing children,” says Ulrika Nilsson, Global Child Forum’s Managing Director. “Thanks to this grant and the IKEA Foundation, we will be able to continue to create the information, knowledge and data needed by the private sector to take action and bring children’s rights into the heart of their operations and communities”.
IKEA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of IKEA, works to create substantial and lasting change by funding holistic, long-term programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities that address children’s fundamental needs.
“We believe that all children have the right to a healthy childhood, a quality education and a safe place to call home. That is why the IKEA Foundation is proud to support Global Child Forum to help kids be kids,” says Per Heggenes, IKEA Foundation CEO.

Today’s meeting has focused on the role that Global Child Forum can play in encouraging business to drive change for children. We have asked you, as our partners, advisors and friends, for input on our new course – a course that will call on the organization’s strengths and unique positioning, to increase our relevancy for business.
