King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia, Victoria and Daniel had today a digital meeting with Johan Carlson, Director General of the Public Health Agency.
Carlson informed about the current spread of infection in Sweden and in the neighboring countries, the expected development during the summer and autumn and about the vaccination sessions that are planned to facilitate free movement within the EU.
The importance of laying the foundation for good health at an early age was emphasized, and how the pandemic has hit people in vulnerable areas and countries harder.
This was the fourth meeting between the Royal Family and Johan Carlson during the pandemic.

King Carl Gustaf and Victoria attended today the Council of State at the Royal Palace.
Each minister present informed about political initiatives, investigations and ongoing legislation within their respective ministries and answered questions.
The Council of State was today held in Lovisa Ulrika's dining room to be able to keep extra distance between the participants.

King Carl Gustaf and Victoria attended today the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs.
The Council is a consultation group between the Riksdag and the Swedish Government, presided over by The King. The Council consists of the Speaker and nine other members from the Riksdag, together with nine deputies.

In August 2021, the Royal Family will resume their visits to Sweden's counties. The royal couple begins the visits by visiting Kalmar County.
In the autumn 2020, on the initiative of HM the King, members of the Royal Family began to visit Sweden's 21 counties. Due to the second wave of the pandemic, only four counties were visited. The Royal Couple visited Stockholm County on 12 October, the Crown Princess visited Västmanland County on 15 October, the Crown Princess Couple visited Södermanland County on 22 October and the Prince Couple visited Värmland County on 28 October.

The visits to the Counties of Sweden will be carried out during the autumn of 2021 as follows:
August
On Friday, August 20, the Royal Couple will visit Kalmar County
On Tuesday 24 August, the Royal Couple will visit Västernorrland County
On Wednesday 25 August, the Crown Princess Couple will visit Västra Götaland County

September
On Thursday, September 2, the Crown Princess Couple will visit Västerbotten County
On Monday 13 September, Prince Carl Philip will visit Blekinge County

Interesting to see who is going where- I would have expected the Crown Princess Couple in Östergötland and Prince Carl Philip in Dalarna.

I also notice Gävleborg is missing from the list? There are 21 counties and only 20 that I count? (4 already visited, 16 upcoming).

Yes, I also noticed immediately that Gävleborg is missing. Madeleine had just a digital meeting with the governor of Gävleborg, is that counted as a visit? I think not, they would have listed it to the press release then. Maybe the visit to Gävleborg County is done next year and isn't listed now.

Good. Obviously the king and queen are still in Solliden in August and that's why they visit Kalmar County first. Victoria and Daniel visit Västerbotten County on 2nd September, on 1st September they attended the opening of Sametinget's (The Sami Parliament) eighth term in Liksjuo/Lycksele, which is in Västerbotten County.

Margareta Thorgren said to the media, that the royal family wishes to keep up with all the visits during the year. So it's a tight schedule. Because of the second wave of viruses struck the planned visits had to be canceled. Even though it is allowed to travel, it is still the case that when the royal family visits, crowds are often created. And since it has not been allowed, the royal family has limited such trips during the year.
But when the restrictions are now eased, the royal family makes a new attempt.
During the year, the royal family has done like most others in the country - tried to carry out their tasks digitally.
Thorgren says that the royal couple and the crown princess couple have participated in governor meetings to stay informed about what it looks like in Sweden, stay up to date. In addition, the Crown Princess couple has had digital meetings with all municipalities in the country.

King Carl Gustaf and crown princess Victoria attend tomorrow the Change of Government Council (Skifteskonselj) at the Royal Palace.

Svensk Damtidning writes that they both have to leave Solliden, but they are not allowed to do it together.
Damtidning speculates that because from Kalmar Airport there was only a single flight with SAS, which they sometimes use, so most likely is that at least the king, maybe even Victoria, will be picked up by a government plane, the government has two planes they can use.

Svensk Damtidning tells with photos about the king leaving Kalmar to fly to the Change of Government Council today:
At 09.34 this morning, the king arrived at Kalmar Airport, in a Volvo XC90 that he himself drove, together with his bodyguards and Margareta Thorgren, director of the information department. One of the government plans was waiting to take the king to Stockholm. The king went on board carrying a brown briefcase, and the plane took off at 09.51. Fast and smooth.
Victoria was not present, as the King and the Crown Princess never travel in the same plane.

"This year is 100 years since the first Swedish parliamentary election with universal and equal suffrage was held.
For almost half that time, almost 48 years, I have been Sweden's king and head of state. And thus led a number of Change of the Government Councils, here at the Royal Palace."

There, the change of government was noted. It was a bit difficult, it was quite crowded inside the Cabinet Room and you were not allowed to move during the approximately five minutes you are allowed to be inside the Council. King Carl Gustaf delivered today The Solliden Award to The Öland Inhabitant of the Year, ceramicist Lotta Sjöberg. Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria attended, and were dressed on their Öland costumes. The Solliden Award was this year designed by Bertil Vallien, who has his exhibition at Solliden this summer. After the prize ceremony the royal family hosted coffee and cake.
Lotta Sjöberg has also her greenhouse at Solliden's this summer's Themed Gardens exhibition "Inglasat".

The royal couple and the Crown Princess paid tribute to the Öland Inhabitant of the Year
The King awarded the Solliden Award to the ceramicist and entrepreneur Lotta Sjöberg. The award was presented at a ceremony at Solliden Palace. The Queen and the Crown Princess also attended the ceremony.
The Solliden Award is awarded to "an individual who has made a remarkable contribution or performance within a specialist field, or who has taken actions or initiatives that promote the interests and development of the island, or who has made long-term efforts for the benefit of Öland".
Lotta Sjöberg is the 41st recipient of the Solliden Award.

King Carl Gustaf and the Crown Princess couple held yesterday a video meeting with representatives of Swedish business sector to obtain information on electricity supply that supports climate change and societal development.
They got information about the companies' work in developing modern, fossil-free technology.
The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise arranged this meeting, it was the fifth of its kind where Swedish companies inform about how they were affected by the pandemic:
May 11, 2020 - The King and Prince Daniel meet with business representatives
September 18, 2020 - The King and the Crown Princess in a digital meeting with business representatives
December 16, 2020 - The King and the Crown Princess Couple in a business meeting
February 25, 2021 - The Royal Couple and the Crown Princess Couple in a meeting on the effects of the pandemic for pharmaceutical companies

At the king's initiative, the royal family members visit all 21 counties of Sweden. The visits began last autumn, but only four visits were done before the corona pandemic's second wave began.
In August the tour continued and continues throughout the autumn. Margareta Thorgren says that the King in his role as head of state felt a special responsibility during the pandemic. The King greets that the county visits are important and it is extremely interesting to visit all of Sweden's counties. The whole purpose of these visits to the counties is to listen and create an image regarding the pandemic and the effects and problems.
The royal couple visited Norrbotten, and next week the crown princess couple will go to Örebro.
Sofia doesn't accompany Carl Philip at the county visits to Gotland and Östergotland, Thorgren tells that she is still breastfeeding and is at home now.

The King, Queen and Victoria met today Ann Linde, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Royal Palace.

They discussed among other thigs about proposals for next year's state visits and official visits. Representatives from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Royal Court participated in the meeting.

The King and Crown Princess participated in the WWF's council and autumn meeting at Ulriksdal Palace.
The King as chairman of the WWF's Board of Trustees and they had a meeting today.
The meeting ended with an award ceremony where the awards Environmental Heroes of the Year for nature and climate initiatives, Marie-Claire Cronstedt's award that rewards initiatives in ecology and nature conservation and the Panda Book of the Year 2022 were awarded by the King.
The Environmental Hero of the Year award for biodiversity went to the project Swedish Bird Taxation.
Professor Johan Rockström received the award Årest Miljöhjälte in ecological footprints.
2021 Marie-Claire Cronstedt Prize went to the botanist Mora Aronsson for her work in botany, ecology and nature conservation.
Panda Book of the Year Award 2022 is awarded "Papua - among birds of paradise and devil coats" by photographers Magnus Lundgren and Staffan Widstrand. Papua is a magnificent photo reportage book about some of the earth's most species-rich and peculiar wildernesses - the rainforests and coral reefs of New Guinea's archipelago.

Queen Silvia, Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson and Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld met on Monday 18th October at the Royal Palace princess Benedikte, who has been visiting Sweden this week.
During the visit, Princess Benedikte took the opportunity to take part in the exhibition "Daisy - Crown Princess Margareta, 1882-1920" about her grandmother, Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden.
The exhibition is shown on the floor where the Crown Princess lived with her husband, the future King Gustav VI Adolf. One of the couple's five children was Princess Ingrid, who later became Queen of Denmark. Like the King and his sisters, Princess Benedikte is the granddaughter of Crown Princess Margareta.
Princess Benedikte visited the exhibition in the company of the Queen, Princess Christina and Princess Désirée. Together they took part in the common family history presented in the exhibition in the form of photographs, letters, moving films and objects from the royal collections.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark attends the State Council meetings along with the Queen. However, they never include it on HIS calendar to show he also participated.

Magdalena Andersson is Sweden's first female prime minister.
Lina Axelsson Kihlblom is the new Minister of Education. She has a background as principal and is the first trans person to take a seat in a Swedish government. Lina Axelsson Kihlblom has been a member of the Jury of Generation Pep's "Årets Peppare Prize" every year.
