La Familia Real ha presidido la entrega de los distintivos de la Orden del Mérito Deportivo y de los Premios Nacionales del Deporte, celebrado en el Palacio de El Pardo. Don Juan Carlos en sus palabras expresó su agradecimiento "a todos los que han apoyado el deporte: técnicos, entrenadores, árbitros, directivos, aficionados así como a las Administraciones Públicas, entidades y patrocinadores que han contribuido a la promoción del deporte". También quiso convocar a todos a continuar esa tarea constructiva e ilusionante, al servicio del deporte en España con la seguridad del apoyo de la Corona.

My favorite thing about the Spanish Royal Family is that they seem like a family. The kids are around and sometimes they misbehave; there are genuine smiles and interaction. Anyone who follows this family knows they have problems and issues like every family, but at the end of the day they are so cleary and obviously a strong and united family.
