Prince Leka of Albania and Elia Zaharia, 8 October 2016

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Princess Lea is a Belgian minor Royal.
The most important Guest is Queen Sophia of Spain.

Princess Léa is befriended, Queen Sofía is a Princess of Greece and the mother of Prince Michael was a Princess of Greece as well. Albania is a neighbour of Greece. That will be the rationale behind their attendance, I think.

Is the reason of attendance of influence to the impressiveness of the guestlist?

I.o.w does it matter why they attend?

Thanks for the link. The House of Poniatowski is like the Houses of Komorowski and Sapieha-Kodenski (Mathilde's mother resp. grandmother) a Polish noble dynasty. There will be familial and friendly links between the families, which may explain her attendance on that Belgian wedding. In fact the same counts for the many Belgian nobles figured in that nice report.

Maybe it does not matter for you. For me it is interesting too see when all reigning royal houses remain absent but no one less than the former Queen of Spain will be attending. And Prince Michael of Kent.

What is the link between these two royals? They are born from a Greek Prince(ss). Albania and Greece (and Montenegro) have the same close ties as the Scandinavian countries or the Benelux countries. That might be a reason why Queen Sofía attends and -for an example- Princess Beatrix does not.

Roger Lundgren also shared some of his own photos, taken last night, with several of the royal guests:

Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos were friends of the parents of Leka . Leka I was welcomed by General Franco in Spain as an exile, later in time of Adolfo Suarez, the president removed the exile condition and he abandoned spain. Leka always bragging to be a friend of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. To Leka was seen with King Juan Carlos and Michael of Greece at a party at April in Monaco.

No,Leka's parents lived in Madrid for several years and were on friendly terms with Spanish royal couple and there are many pictures of him with Spanish royal family as well as Belgian. His godfather was King Baudouin.

As for the British royals,Prince Leka was living in Britain while attending Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst,so maybe during this time he became acquainted with some British royals.

One question,is the white tie event tonight or was it yesterday at pre-wedding gala?

Would like to see female guests wearing tiaras ;)

It would be great.

i loved when Elia spotted Queen Sofia and gave her a curtsy to then the queen tried to help her with her dress .

i am disappointed: this wedding looked dreary in that lightless hall. both wedding dresses were over the top with so much going on, the tiara was... most odd.

the pre-wedding dress of elia is the best so far of what she has worn but even so i don't find it that impressive. i compare with the pre-wedding dresses of victoria of sweden, stephanie of luxembourg, madeleine, etc and it just doesn't do much for elia. but at least it is somewhat 'streamlined' and lacking the stridence of her wedding dresses.

It is indeed a bit on the tacky side. The wedding is unbalanced seeing the marginal role the monarchy ever played in Albania (only one King for a very short time span). Albania is one of the poorest countries on the European continent. It all looks a bit like firing with a bazooka on a mosquito.
