The current Head of the Royal House of Portugal is Dom Duarte (III).
His father, who died in 1976, was Dom Duarte (II). They are named after King Duarte I who reigned 1433-1438.

We really don't have a king. We're a republican country.
D. Duarte is the Head of Royal House of Portugal, but not the king.

The Duke of Bragança, D. Duarte, and the Duchess of Cadaval, D.ª Diana Álvares Pereira de Melo, are visiting today, January 13th, the village of Cadaval, to celebrate the 109th anniversary of this municipality.
Besides, the autarchy is preparing two agreements of Cultural Cooperation and Union: one with the Duchess of Cadaval and another one with the Duke of Bragança.
The Duchy of Cadaval was created in 1648, by King D. João IV, after the restoration of the national sovereignity. The first Cadaval ducal title was granted on the birthday of Infante D. Pedro (who would reign as D. Pedro II), and it was passed through 11 generations. The Dukes of Cadaval were a ramification of the family of the Dukes of the Bragança, the most powerful in Portugal, which has found the 4th Dynasty.

Among the commemorations for the 109th anniversary of the Municipality of Cadaval, a gemination agreement between Cadaval and Olivença was agreed. On the occasion, the Duque of Bragança made a polemic suggestion: the creation of "a kind of condominium", where both the King of Spain and the President of the Portuguese Republic would be "simultaneously Heads of State of the autonomous territory of Olivença".
For those who are not familiar with the sensitive issue of Olivença, it’s a kind of Portuguese/Spanish version of the British/Spanish quarrel about Gibraltar.
Olivença is a town on the border of Portugal and Spain that is claimed as Portuguese territory since 1298 (when it was conquered), although the city has been administered as a part of the Spanish Extremadura. Officially, however, the Portuguese government does not recognize the Spanish sovereignty on Olivença and considers it as Portuguese territory “de jure”.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivenza
The Dukes of Cadaval are the great link between the cities of Cadaval and Olivença, since the 1st Duke of Cadaval, D. Nuno Álvares Pereira de Melo (*1638 +1727), simultaneously hold of the Duchy of Cadaval and Alcaidaria-Mor of Olivença.

Not many, but here's an interesting one, from 2005:
Empire Adrift: the Portuguese Court in Rio de Janeiro, 1808-1821, by Patrick Wilcken.
It's about the strategic displacement of the Portuguese Royal Court to Rio de Janeiro, during the Napoleonic Wars and the subsequent growth of Rio.

The celebrations counted as well on the presence of the widower Duchess Claudine and the representatives of the royal associations of Ribatejo and Lisboa.
That journey also included the signature of a cooperation agreement between the municipality of Cadaval and the D. Manuel II Foundation (represented by D. Duarte Pio), the inauguration of the Street of Olivença, or the historical recriation, which was attended in the afternoon by D.ª Diana Pereira de Melo and her fiancé, Prince Charles Philip d'Orléans, Duke of Anjou.

Last Saturday in Santarém, D. Duarte de Bragança and D.ª Isabel Herédia participated in the Lunch of the King, organized by the Royal Association of Ribatejo.
During the speeches, D. Duarte considered that "a People without roots does not have any future and the serious governors know that it is necessary to preserve our identity and culture, our architectural, cultural and environmental patrimony". The heir to the throne supports that the democratic system must look after captivating and clarifying the People, otherwise ordering voices will appear, ultimately ending up with the appearing of a dictatorial regime. The Duke of Bragança also took advantage to support the restoration of the monarchy, to "assure the rights, freedoms and guarantees of the People, through an independent leadership from the economic and politic powers".
Regarding the fact that the commands of the State are not elected, D. Duarte underlines that, in a Parliamentary Monarchy, "the Parliament can dismiss the king and a referendum can put an end to the monarchy; therefore the democracy always prevails, like in Spain or Luxemburg happens".

Yes, Filomena Gonçalves is the wife of Francisco Moita Flores (also in the picture), who, among many other things, is also the President of the Municipality of Santarém (thus their presence at the event) and the author of several scripts. One of those is O Processo dos Távoras / The Távora Trial (2002), directed by Wilson Solon, where Filomena plays one of the characters.
