i love throne day simply for the reason we get to see the women members of the royal family out and about...otherwise we rarely see them (not to say they are not out and about but just that not many pictures are taken of them)...

anyway, lalla salma looks really lovely and her son is sooo cute and so big! Mash'Allah. :)

That's what I was wondering... I'm surprised, I thought we would find more pictures of the event with salma and the little prince. Last year we had pictures of them, salma was wearing a green caftan. They were taken on the balcony pf the royal palace in rabat...

Article about king Mohamed VI nine years of reign on french magazine Challenges.fr
Mohamed VI, 45 ans, fêtera neuf ans de règne - Emancipé - Damour_Pauline - Challenges.fr
her translation from google
Mohamed VI, 45, will celebrate nine years of reign
Hassan II said his son: "He, he, me, c'est moi." Dont act. Became King nine years ago, Mohammed VI applies a new style, more liberal, the Moroccan monarchy.

"The throne of the Alawites is on the saddle their horses," said one day Hassan II to his son. Mohammed VI, 45, who will celebrate on July 30 nine-year reign, did'a not forgotten. Even if the young sovereign swapped the thoroughbred Arabic of his ancestors for a big sedan a sunroof in which he tirelessly criss-crossed the kingdom, inaugurating a hospital here, where a station or an orphanage. "At the beginning of his reign, Hassan II was moving as much, said a senior committed to'Etat who knows both men. The difference c''est qu''il traveled to submit its vassals, to control the rural provinces rebels ... His son is more a foreman to check the'état yards qu''il began. "

Heir to'une dynasty
As on May 12 when he visited the dam Yacoub al-Mansour in the region of Marrakesh. Without bodyguard, the king leaves his car to shake hands with hundreds of onlookers gathered in jubilation on its passage. Costume dark sunglasses, all smiles: you think Nicolas Sarkozy campaign. There s''arrête comparison. Mohammed VI n''est not qu''un leader'Etat, c''est a divine right monarch for whom time n''a not have the same meaning; Sultan and Amir al-Mouminine, commander of believers, representative and heir to'une dynasty in power for four centuries. In 2005, during'une young king's visit to Spain, a journalist with the daily El Pais the'interroge: "Qu''est-what has changed under your reign compared to that of your father?" Probably the style, he answers. My father said to me: "He c''est him, and I c''est me." Everyone has their own particular way of working. But'important c''est the'objectif. I know where I want to go. My father, that God in his holy'ait mercy, knew too. "

Johnny Fan
The style? S''il s''est a little assagi function requires, Mohammed VI has maintained the lifestyle of time when he was crown prince. It is not the royal palace Dâr al-Mahkzen Rabat, but in a villa with his wife, Lalla Salma, 30 years qu''il is the first sovereign Alawite to submit publicly to his subjects, and her two children , Moulay Hassan, 5 years and Lalla Khadija, 1 year and a half. From qu''il can s''échapper obligations royal Mohammed VI on the fi gadirie coast, or off his residence Mdiq, in the north, making the scooter on Wednesday, his passion, the point d'' be nicknamed "Majetski" by its critics, it n''hésite not s''afficher with his idol Johnny Hallyday says "love the music business" and maintains a strong penchant for sports rutilantes, qu''il led to any allure. "Nobody s''étonne to see him move on the ledge to open the tomb when it comes down to Casa," says the financial returned home after studying in France. Like many young Moroccans off, it is in line with its sovereign. "Here, it is better not to be sick, have no problem with the law and earn the'argent to send his children to study at the abroad, but nonetheless, things are moving. Too soon perhaps, but it comes from afar, "says he. In'image new roads, towers and villas which bloom everywhere, "M6" has injected a new dynamic in the country, younger, more modern, more enterprising. Those who doubted the ability to lead Smit Sidi, the "little man" as we affectionately nicknamed the boy a djellaba that French discovered the funeral of Georges Pompidou in Notre-Dame alongside Michel Jobert, had to get to the 'énce: c''est him who governs. Too Similarly, glisset-on in political circles. The Alawite ruler remains an enigma for most of his subjects n''a he gave no interview to the Moroccan press in nine years - but it s''est shed this image of fragile boy, bruised by an authoritarian education which he escaped when transferred to Paris, London or New York, accompanied by his younger brother Moulay Rachid and his elder sister, Princess Lalla Meryem, with whom he maintains close ties.

Politically freed
"Hassan II had prepared the ground for change, his son has been able to impose its rhythm and its own identity," said one close adviser. With knowing ill, forced to drop ballast to preserve his throne, Hassan II has shown the path of democratic transition at the end of his reign by appointing the old opponent Socialist Abderrahmane Youssoufi as Prime Minister. Mohammed VI'ya the now naked. He went further, to limogeant from November 1999 Driss Basri, the Minister of'Intérieur his father, who embodied the dark years of'ancien regime. He also allowed Sheikh Yassin, Islamist challenger, s''exprimer.
The recognition of the Berber cause through the manifest Amazigh in 2000,'adoption in 2004'un Family Code for modern women (Moudawana), the creation of the Equity and Reconciliation'instance responsible for shed light on the disappearances and detentions occurred during the reign of Hassan II are'actes symbolic marking the first years in power Mohammed VI and bring Morocco in a new era. "One way to kill the father Although, since you feel that the progress of civil society are at a standstill, "says a former minister.
Morocco is now engaged in the democratic path, after two free legislative elections in 2002 and 2007, but it always n''est no question of parliamentary monarchy. "Those who thought that Mohammed VI would become a Moroccan Juan Carlos n ' have understood nothing of Morocco or its sovereign, "says a relative of the first circle of the palace. In a rare interview granted to the press in 2001, Figaro, the sovereign s''indigne: "Juan Carlos I respect him and I'aime lot, but the Spanish monarchy n''a nothing to do with the Moroccan monarchy. The Moroccans want a monarchy strong, democratic and executive. "

Fascinated by the'économie
Thus, the Moroccan Constitution, revised in 1996 to endow it with'un Bicameral Parliament whose'une elected by universal suffrage - gives its leader absolute power on Foreign Affairs, Defense, Public Security, Religious Affairs and Justice. C''est the king who appoints a dahir (royal decree) Prime Minister, whose offices are facing those of the royal cabinet in'enceinte the palace, as well as ministers and most officials'autorité. Less present on the international scene that Hassan II "rather than Taza Gaza," he says - to the point where some accuse him his lack of vision, Mohammed VI s''implique however much more in economic affairs of the kingdom. Head of'Etat, but also the first entrepreneur and the first banker of the kingdom through'ONA, holding royal control 60% of stock values of Casablanca, it follows closely the privatization of Maroc Telecom, the country's cash machine, and its takeover by the french Vivendi. It also monitors the progress of the plan'ambitieux Azur and its new resorts that must accommodate more than 10 million tourists in 2010. It is also responsible'origine the construction by Bouy gues, the new port city of Tanger (see page 70) that he dreams of making a new door of the Mediterranean. "C''est he who gives l ''impetus for change, ensures Jean-Rene Fourtou, chairman of the supervisory board of Vivendi. It does enough to meet him: imposing a physical, big, powerful, c''est the'autorité embodied. With him, no time lost, spoke on economic development and the future of the kingdom. "

Surrounded by siblings'une
Mohammed VI reign, but difficult to say with whom. "The current power is a nebulous, with several spheres of variable geometry that evolve fi l scrambled and reconciliations summit," regrets a member of the'ONG Transparency Morocco.
Since its accession to the throne, the king is the household in the royal cabinet, which is its "monuments" (with the'exception of'André Azoulay, a former adviser Hassan II, and'Abdelaziz Meziane Belfkih, already responsible mission of the father and guru of economic fi ls) and garnit former classmates of the Royal College. A very special Seraglio, where princes are educated on an almost feudal in the company of young people "deserving", chosen by mid best students of the kingdom, all from'une different region. "Siblings who must do everything to the king. They were raised with him, they often wind made the same university as him, then started their career in recent years of the reign of Hassan II, mostly in the service of'Etat, and find themselves today, Today in the first circle of power, "said Amar Ali, managing editor of the Journal Hebdomadaire.
Among them, two men stand out. Fouad Ali El Himma,'ex Minister Delegate for'Intérieur, now has the upper hand over political affairs. It is without doubt, among all, whoever has the most power. It manages the most sensitive issues, including security issues and those related to'organisation the political field. It is said to qu''il''is the "eye of the palace" and qu''il a l'' 'the king's ear. " This man networks has been able to weave his canvas with a view to promoting men of the generation of the sovereign, and identify in the public sector as in the private sector those who were most likely to music policy of modernization of the kingdom Moroccan.
Faced with him, Mohamed Mounir Majidi.......
