Henry V (16 September 1386 – 31 August 1422), also called Henry of Monmouth, was King of England and Lord of Ireland from 1413 until his death in 1422. Despite his relatively short reign, Henry's outstanding military successes in the Hundred Years' War against France made England one of the strongest military powers in Europe. Immortalised in Shakespeare's "Henriad" plays, Henry is known and celebrated as one of the greatest warrior-kings of medieval England.

Catherine of Valois or Catherine of France (27 October 1401 – 3 January 1437) was Queen of England from 1420 until 1422. A daughter of Charles VI of France, she was married to Henry V of England and gave birth to his heir Henry VI of England. Catherine's marriage was part of a plan to eventually place Henry V on the throne of France, and perhaps end what is now known as the Hundred Years' War, but although her son Henry VI was later crowned in Paris, this ultimately failed.

After Henry V's death, Catherine's later marriage with Owen Tudor proved the springboard of the Tudor family's fortunes, eventually leading to their grandson's elevation as Henry VII of England. Catherine's older sister Isabella was also a Queen of England as the child bride of Richard II.

King Henry V and Queen Catherine each had an appreciation of music. Henry had learned the harp as a boy. In October 1420 new harps were ordered for the King and his wife.

Sadly the tomb of Catherine of Valois has not survived but was an elaborate alabaster memorial and was housed in the old Lady Chapel of Westminster Abbey.

Such a shame that memorial was never erected during the Victorian era when her coffin was re-interred.

In 1419 King Henry V requested that the clergy collectively pray for protection from black magic. He became a frequent visitor to holy sites.
