The King, crown princess Victoria and prince Daniel attend the Folk och Försvar (Society and Defence) Annual National Conference in Sälen on 7-8 January, Victoria attends also on the third day 9 January.

Over 400 participants, among them ministers and royals, are expected to participate in the annual security and defence policy conference in Sälen at Högfjällshotellet, and security will be extensive. The local police director says that they are prepared for different scenarios in the current security situation.

I remember one other instance where she was falling asleep, it happens to us all. Lol.
She needs a double shot expresso ready before these conferences.
 
Not her best moment but it really does as polyesco say happen to us all! I remember seeing a video of Beatrix of the Netherlands dozing off once.
I don't think it is a huge deal tbh but I get it doesn't look great.

This Swede isn't embarrassed. It's not as if most of us hasn't done the same at least once in our lives.

I've never done anything like that. Not even after partying the whole night before a boring event. I think it's very unfortunate that a future Head of State falls asleep while a current Head of State is speaking.
I'm disappointed, I thought better of her.
 
LOL, Royals are humans too. Princess Victoria needs more coffee. ? It happened to me more than once, so I can understand. ?

That is being very harsh! I looked at the video and it's clear she didn't fall asleep. Yes - she was having a hard time maintaining her attention and conscious state, but she didn't "nod off". Heads of States, future Heads of States and the ordinary citizen are human with a jam-packed life. Perhaps one of the kids were sick, Victoria wasn't feeling her best, or being in a nice warm room when it's -1000 degrees outside was enough to cause her get sleepy.

As for embarrassing the nation - her father has done more to embarrass Sweden than her dozing off

Exactly. Victoria has been exemplary, and she isn't the first, nor the last person who will find it hard to stay awake during a lecture or speech. This non-Swede is neither embarrassed too ?

Reminds me of Prince William during an event, a few weeks after Louis was born. He was falling asleep during a church or Thanksgiving service

Second day at the conference for the King, Victoria and Daniel.
The days at the conference start at 12.30, so that the participants can go skiing in the morning, if they want. Usually the royals have gone skiing. Last year we got photos of the King and Victoria skiing.

On these days, the King, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel attend the Society and Defence National Conference in Sälen. It gathers over 300 participants and roughly 60 speakers for the dissemination of knowledge, conversation and debate.

It was unfortunate that it would happen during his speech yes - but it just proves that she is a human… I would like to meet the lucky one who have never acidentially fallen asleep during a conference… It’s rather impressive that it doesn’t happen more often considering how many speaches royals have to listen to…

Even the late great QEII nodded off on at least one occasion. We are human after all, it happens. Unfortunately for CPV this is one of the more unfortunate occasions for it to happen at.
 
Yeah. This just proves that royals are just humans not some supernatural creatures who can't become tired. That just came on bad moment.
 
There was a short working dinner and the last part of today's programme started just at 19.20. The King and Daniel have now left, only Victoria is there with Major General Peder Ohlsson, the Chief of HM the King's Military Staff, her aide-camp and Isabella Törngren, Head of Victoria's Household. Victoria was planned to stay alone the third day.

The King and Crown Princess visit the Swedish Defence University on January 16 for an update on the university's operations, current research and ongoing projects.
The program includes a round table discussion on current research related to the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict, as well as challenges and opportunities surrounding the development of Swedish total defence. Innovation and AI as well as games as a pedagogical method are also at the program.

The King, Victoria and Daniel gave today an audience to Henrik Landerholm, National Security Advisor at the Prime Minister's Office.
He assists the National Security Council and the Prime Minister in matters of foreign and security policy and matters of national security and briefed the royals on current issues within his area of responsibility.

The Royal Court about the King and Victoria's visit to the Swedish Defence University yesterday.

The Swedish Defence University about the visit:
Vice-Chancellor Robert Egnell updated the King and Victoria on the University's role in the development of total defence and their initiative for the establishment of a Campus total defence. They discussed about the school's development and need to grow and its international exchange. The king was interested in the collaboration with Kings College and the increasing number of international students.
Round-table discussions: Outlook on the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict + Research, innovations and the construction of total defence
The King and Victoria participated with engaging questions about the build-up of the total defence, challenges in cooperation between different regions in Sweden and about the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict.
At the game room they got an insight into how exercises and games are used as a teaching method in both civilian and military training. Four students at the Higher Officer Program played the game "Battle of Kyiv". A game round usually takes up to 8 hours, but the King and Victoria got a short course and didn't hesitate to make a move for each team.

The King, Victoria and Daniel met on Thursday January 18 at the Royal Palace
The Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström and The Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall and representatives from the Government Office regarding the EU's future and enlargement.
 
Sofia can't attended the Sports Gala this evening.
Her name was taken away from the court's calendar.
Gala organizer Stephan Rimér confirmed to Svensk Damtidning that he had just received information from the court that Sofia will not attend but they didn't state any reason for the rejection.
The courts deputy director of the Information Department, Johan Tegel told that unfortunately, Sofia has had to cancel the offer due to a severe cold. Out of consideration for the other guests, she is staying at home.

They met today also lieutenant general Carl-Johan Edströn, the Chief of Joint Operations at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters.

King Carl Gustaf, Victoria and Carl Philip met this afternoon at the Royal Palace representatives from Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut (Swedish Defence Research Agency). They got a presentation on the current security situation with particular focus on Russia, the Middle East and the USA.

The King and Victoria attended today a meeting of the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs.
The Council is a consultation group between the Riksdag and the Swedish Government, presided over by The King. The Council consists of the Speaker and nine other members from the Riksdag, together with nine deputies.
According to the Swedish Constitution, "The Government shall keep the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs continuously informed of those matters relating to foreign relations which may be of significance for the Realm, and shall confer with the Council concerning these matters as necessary".
