Princess of Wales Undergoing Cancer Treatment

Quick question. Kate statement that there "was" cancer "cells" and they recommended "preventative chemo. All the headlines are saying she has cancer; has she been diagnosed with it or are they giving her treatment to make sure cancer doesn't develop?

We don’t really know any specifics obviously, but generally this means that whatever malignancy existed was removed during surgery and chemo is being done to kill off any remaining individual cancer cells even though no disease is visible or known to be remaining. Having been through this with family and friends many times, that’s how it’s been described to me previously. Think of it as being done to prevent cancer from returning rather than to treat known existing disease.

This is a really good question! Could someone with medical training please respond? Thanks!

As cancer cells were detected, she's definitely been given a cancer diagnosis. Though the assumed source of the cancer has been removed, it's virtually impossible to determine whether all cancer cells have been removed. Cue adjuvant therapy, in Kate's case chemotherapy – which is a cancer cell killer. It's preventative in the sense that the hope is that if even microscopic cancerous cells remained after the surgery, the chemotherapy will kill them, thus preventing recurrence.

I agree. I had a tumor on my bladder. 70% of the cells were low grade and 30% were high grade. The tumor was ON my bladder not in it. I had 18 immunotherapy treatments just to make sure that no cells "escaped" ... I was happy to undergo the treatment. It was preventative, as is Catherine's treatment.

Thank you to all of you who answered my questions regarding the specifics and dessimation of Catherine's statement.
:previous: ❤️❤️❤️ to you.

All types of adjuvant therapy is – looking past the truly awful side effects – amazing but immunotherapy in particular is looking like it's gonna be a real game changer for cancer treatment.
My Dad had immunotherapy and it didn't work, but his was advanced. Sorry for bringing up a failed case, this is no way has to do with Catherine, I'm just venting on cancer in general.

Gary Goldsmith, uncle of the Princess of Wales, on a Spanish TV program, spoke about the Princess of Wales' illness and said: "She's done phenomenally, she's managed wonderfully, she's been honest and transparent and it does seem like she's recovering and it's all preventive. I haven't spoken to Kate about it, it's being handled internally and confidentially by the family and I'm going to respect that."

Thank heavens he didn’t say any more than that!

Yesterday we were at the local supermarket here in Upstate NY and by the checkout aisle you always see the USA tabloids nonsense. The American tabloids had the Princess of Wales on the cover with words of encouragement and focused on headlines to motivate people to know more about cancer.

And there's the Rupert Murdoch owned tabloids, front and center, with the viciousness his company to sell garbage spreading lies with the headline of the couple 'divorce'. Total garbage and yet, even here in the USA his companies thrive on selling lies about Kate, Will and anyone UK royal without concern for the truth.

So, I did what any ancient Royal Forum member would do...I took two cooking recipes magazines and placed them on the Murdoch rack to cover them up! That one was for Kate to literally block away the negativity from this side of the ocean! :whistling:

Well done for cover them up! 😁

The Archbishop of Canterbury encouraged the congregation at Canterbury Cathedral on Easter Sunday to pray for the King and the Princess of Wales.
"In each of our lives, there are moments which change us forever - sometimes it is individual.

"We have watched and sympathised with, and felt alongside, the dignity of the King and the Princess of Wales as they have talked of their cancer and in doing so, by their lack of selfishness, by their grace and their faith, boosted so many others."

Well done for cover them up! 😁
And you know what, I'll do it again next time I see her in a negative Murdoch owned tabloid. I'll just be discrete and grab any food, decoration or cat and dog magazine and put it back...over Murdoch's. It's like the Royal Forums secret knights defending Kate at any checkout line. War vs tabloids, between the candies and soda fridge, will be fun :giggle:

I am cheering for you! 😁

He handled that very well. He echoed the party line, which is to give the appearance of transparency without actually saying anything revealing.

I couldn't possibly care less about Rupert Murdoch, so I don't give him the scintilla's worth of attention required to do that. People like him thrive on annoying people enough to do that, so just ignore it.[.....]

Well done! I've been known to slip a mag or two over the top of Murdoch mag's too. RF Members united, ha ha!

Rupert isn't the only one. In the past day or so, I've seen several outlets speculating on what kind of cancer Catherine has. (So much for that honeymoon.) Even Parade, which is usually tame and unsensational, had a story.

Most reporters in these articles are reaching out to doctors and asking their opinions. Every doctor seems to think she has a cancer related to their specialty, except maybe the prostate specialist.

Has there been a statement about when Catherine might resume public appearances?
Easter has come and gone, but I haven't seen a mention of that.
