So sweet! Estelle and Oscar are both going to be quite tall it seems, Oscar is already shooting up!

Princess Estelle is adorable sweet and happy and also appears to be a "great big sister" as well as her mother Victoria. At all official events she behaves exemplary, but she still has a twinkle in her eyes. Here we have collected GALA's favorite pictures of Princess Estelle from the year gone by. Victoria's plan for the future for Princess Estelle
On February 23, Princess Estelle turns 7 years. For this special 7-year-old, life is a little different to her peers'.
Estelle will once become the Queen of Sweden, and her prospective parents have already begun to train her in what we call the "Queen School".
Last week, Estelle got a lesson on her own royal family. That's exactly how Crown Princess Victoria wants it in her daughter's upbringing; you first learn about the royal family and its history, and then it is time for Estelle to get to know and understand Sweden's history.
It was time for a visit to the Treasury, a rather exciting study visit for a 7 year old. Estelle got to see her own queen crown from 1844. And then she looked at the baptismal font in silver, which was used at her own christening.
A year ago Estelle visited the Royal Armoury, and exhibition Vivat Regina.
Is this a too tough and ambitious program to put on such a little girl? Well, Estelle seems to be happy and Crown Princess Victoria is a wise and caring mother.
I think she slowly lets the knowledge conveyed to Estelle. It is now she must learn. The day Estelle becomes queen, it is too late.
I heard from Estelle's old preschool Villa Kvikkjokk, that there the princess and her little friends played happily - just princesses!
Estelle gets a slightly different upbringing, she is a little precocious, but that's what makes her so lovely personal.
I had the pleasure of "conversing" with her for a short while at Solliden last summer and can state that she already has the ability to talk with adults.
There is a funny story about the Crown Princess family at a restaurant in Stockholm. It was moving cute when Estelle nodded to the butler after the food:
- It tasted good, tell the chef that!
Estelle has visited her duchy Östergötland. She has also visited art exhibitions and environmental facilities. She is present as an official guest on Mother Victoria's name day and on her grandfather's birthday.
And when Victoria and Daniel have royal guests, Estelle is often included as a little hostess. Last year, English Prince William and his Kate visited Sweden and were invited to afternoon tea at Haga Palace. Estelle was there and offered cookies on silver dishes. Then she sat well-behaved on the sofa. And speaking English with the guests was probably not a problem either, Victoria has been foresight and her children have had english speaking nannies to make them bilingual early.
Crown Princess Victoria takes care about her daughter - and wants to raise her to an empathetic, compassionate and modern queen. Victoria is also Estelle's great role model. She looks up to her mother and naturally wants to be as good as she is.

What a lovely chronicle!!! Thank you for sharing!! It was a delight to read about Estelle and her preparation for her future role as Queen.
 
It seems Victoria is very wise in easing Estelle into the knowledge of her future. It may seem a bit daunting for a young child but how much nicer to experience things as "normal" before being hit with it later. I suspect Victoria sees this as a better way and hopes to relieve future stress from Estelle.
 
I have always liked they include Estelle, and Oscar at times, in events. It allows her to ease into things so it's not such a huge shock to the system. You don't get the same deer in the head lights look you get from some other royal kids who are sheltered completely from public, when suddenly infront of cameras.

It was great seeing her at the treasury. And that they are teaching her the history side too which is important.

I love the little anecdotes and private insight we get at times. Not just the oh they like pink or dancing, but stories that give us a sense of character.

:previous: Now that is a very natural, organic way to introduce her to her parents, uncles and aunts and grandparents, lives. I love seeing her when she is present at her mother's birthday celebration. She seems so relaxed and at ease with all the people and I think they reciprocate by admiring her and not scaring her. Now Oscar is joining them and like Estelle, if he gets overwhelmed, he just runs back to his Nanny putting distance between them.

But there is no great brouhaha about the children being present at these events and both Victoria and Daniel treat them the same as they do in private.

I agree and the bolded is a particularly good point IMO. Whilst it could be argued that it's better for Estelle to lead a normal life until she reaches a certain age, it's better for me that she's been exposed to her royal connections and future queenly duties at an early age because as you've said, she'll be more used to royal life and official engagements when she starts to perform them on her own and the royal world won't be totally alien to her when she does ascend to the throne in the future. I like how Victoria and Daniel are being subtle with these engagements too, such as popping off after school which seems like a "normal" museum visit, or taking her to child friendly engagements that seem more like "playtime with cameras" such as when she went to the inauguration of her Fairytale Path in Ostergotland.
 
I think Victoria is determined that Estelle is going to be everything she wasn't when she comes 'of age' right at that time when a teenaged girl is still finding out who she is. When that time comes a well educated and well socialised young lady is going to step out onto Sweden and the world stage, confident and articulate.

She will know her country and countrymen well and they will have seen her growing up picking up rubbish on beaches and in forests just as they do.

As to her education, should she be unfortunate enough to have inherited the learning disability both her mother and Uncle share, her parents are ready to be lovingly pro-actve. The last thing they will want to see is Estelle suffering as her mother did.

Soon she will turn seven, and as her friends, she also likes to ride, dance and go to school. But to princess Estelle there is not only alphabets, plus and minus that count; she has also started at the queen school, with mother Victoria as the teacher and grandfather king as the headmaster.
The article describes Estelle's visit at the Bernadotte Library and tells that it was a part of mother Victoria's plan to Estelle, and she impressed greatly. During the last months the little princess has got to do small royal study visits to Nationalmuseum, The Royal Treasury and Bernadotte Library. Estelle did her first royal engagement when she was two, at the square in Linköping and shook hands. After that we have seen her "work" every now and then. In December she was the only grandchild who was with and celebrated grandmother Silvia at Oscarsteatern. As the future queen she has her whole life outlined and totally different role than her little brother Oscar and her cousins. But she isn't at all bewildered about the photographers at the official events. And Estelle seems to be quite happy when taking her first steps at a very long queen school. We can see that Estelle is naturally curious, likewise her mother. And the very important thing, the ability to listen, she has inherited from both her mother and grandmother.

On Saturday, Princess Estelle turns seven years, a great day in all the little girls' lives. Of course there will be a party, and nice gifts from mom and dad and the rest of the family.
Perhaps grandmother and grandfather come from Ockelbo to celebrate.
But grandmother Silvia and grandfather the king are far away. Specifically, in the Austrian Seefeld in Tirol, 100 miles from their oldest grandchild.
These are the grandparents with the trickiest job schedule, and a calendar that is nailed a whole year in advance. And now they have long been booked in to attend at the Fis Nordic World Ski Championsships.
But there is a rescue even on this tricky problem - Queen Silvia happens to be an expert at Facetime.

Now, Princess Estelle's bracelet is complete
An ash leaf in gold is the icing on the cake at the bracelet which Princess Estelle got when she turned one year. Thus, the county's gift to the Duchess is complete.
On February 23, Princess Estelle turns seven years. The county's gift to the Duchess of Östergötland is a charm representing an ash leaf.
For the sixth year in a row, Princess Estelle gets a charm with connection with Östergotland to the bracelet she received on her first birthday. The princess has previously received jewelry depicted by the province symbols swan, pike, bare-toothed russula, floating liverwort and hermit beetle and this year it is time for the province tree ash. The bracelet itself is linked by a cornflower - Östergötland's province flower.
Just like in previous years, the goldsmith and artist Margareth Sandström from Östergötland has created the charm of 18 karat gold.

Historian Herman Lindqvist wrote at his chronicle in Svensk Damtidning last week, that Estelle is Sweden's 71st princess, the first, Olof Skötkonung's daughter Ingegerd was born around 1000. Estelle is unique in many ways at Sweden's royal history. She is the first princess who was born as hereditary princess, who will inherit the throne. On the day Victoria becomes queen, Estelle becomes the crown princess. Sweden has been ruled by queens regnants: Margareta of Denmark, Kristina and Ulrika Eleonora, but none of them were born as an heir to the throne. There are some similitarites in Kristina and Estelle. Kristina had not turned six years, when her father died and she became the queen. Both Kristina and Estelle have been and are trained as regnants from their childhood. Estelle made her first appearance at her christening, and ever since the family has in every way indicated Estelle's role in the family, that she is the one who one day will inherit the throne. She has already learned english and is very interested in history.
No one knows what happens in politics in the future but the royal family's approach is that they are doing everything for that Estelle will be ready on the day it will be necessary. All Vasa kings had the best astrologers of their time, Estelle has to trust to her good education and good advisers. The winds are blowing in the right direction.

Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland, was born on February 23, 2012 as the first child of the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel.
Photos of Estelle and Oscar and Estelle's welsh pony Viktor are taken outside Rosendal Palace at Royal Djurgården.

I love the new photos. So sweet with her and the pony, and in the sleigh ?

I always loved the idea that she was given a charm bracelet by her province. Was perfect gift, something they could add to every year. I love seeing what charm they give her each time. Some are a bit unique to say the least :D

Hope she has an amazing birthday party with her loved ones.

It's interesting that the counties appear to consider it a great honor to be a royal duchy, as shown by their christening gifts and in Estelle's case birthday gifts, especially when contrasted with the complaints about the costs of the monarchy in other respects.
 
Such adorable photos of little Estelle! Can't believe she's seven already. Nice to see that Oscar was included too and I like how he's less in focus so the main object of the photo is the birthday girl.
 
Princess Estelle's share portfolio continues to grow. On her 7th birthday, Dagens industri states that development is good - despite a shaky stock market year.
For exactly seven years ago, Dagens industri started a stock portfolio in the then newborn Estelle's name. The finance magazine invested SEK 100,000 in ten Swedish shares and will, on the Princess's 18th birthday, let her donate the money for the charitable purpose she chooses.
And the value increase has been good. The SEK 100,000 has now become SEK 238,200, writes Di. This is an increase of 138 per cent and well above the average for the entire Stockholm Stock Exchange.
In connection with the princess's birthday, Dagens industri makes some changes. The ownership of Atlas Copco and Handelsbanken is increasing.
At the same time, the magazine chooses to sell its holding in the investment company Kinnevik in favor of the forestry company SCA.

Its good for tourism and publicity for the counties. It really costs them very little to have the charm made for Estelle. Instead when her birthday comes around they get some notoriety, and when she visits her county as well. Besides there are still many traditionalists out there, who respect and enjoy the history and significance of the royals.

Such a wonderful photo of Oscar and it's lovely to get a picture of him with a large smile on his face since he always seems so stern and serious - a trait which he has inherited from his grandfather :D I can't believe he's three already!
 
On their trip to Vienna last weekend, Victoria and Estelle visited Haus der Musik museum.

We were very happy to welcome Princess Estelle and her mother Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden at Haus der Musik. Kungahuset, thank you very much for your visit.

We have been spoiled with the photos of Estelle and Oscar this year, we have seen a lot of them.

Margareta Thorgren said to Expressen:
- They have celebrated Easter privately and it has certainly been a traditional Easter with Easter eggs and other things that belong to Easter.
The family has also been able to enjoy the warm weather.
- It is very nice weather throughout Sweden, also on Öland, says Margareta Thorgren.
She adds:
- The royal family wishes a happy Easter!
