John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford was survived by his second wife Jacquetta of Luxembourg.
His remains were buried at Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Rouen (Rouen Cathedral).
The interior of the cathedral vandalized twice ,in 1562 by rampaging Huguenots and again in 1793 during the Terror.
His black marble tomb did not survive the Huguenots fury in 1562!

Henry of Monmouth at the time of his birth was the son of the future Henry IV of England who was the son of John of Gaunt and Blanche of Lancasterr.
His mother was Mary de Bohun,Countess of Northampton and Countess of Derby who sadly died in 1394.

Richard of York was the son of Richard, Earl of Cambridge and Lady Anne Mortimer .His paternal grandparents were Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York
and Isabella of Castile.
During the reign of Henry VI he acted as Lord Protector of the Realm, 1453–1455 as Margaret d'Anjou was pregnant and the king had suffered a mental breakdown.
Two of his sons became Kings ,Edward IV and Richard III.

I read & been fascinated by the biography of Prince William III of Orange, did you read his biographies, two books were out, and I read both of them, when the current king Willem Alexander & queen Maxima made a state visit to England under the late queen Elizabeth II a few years ago, the Dutch king was shown in Buckingham palace & the British parliament buildings the huge paintings on the walls of king William III of Orange & of course king of England, fascinating subject.

Richard was the second youngest child of Richard,Duke of York and Lady Cecily Neville and was born during the Wars of the Roses.
When he was 8 years old his father and elder brother Edmund were both killed at the Battle of Wakefield.

On this day, October 14th,1217 : Death of Isabella, Countess of Gloucester.

Isabella, Countess of Gloucester was the 1st wife of the future king John but the marriage was annulled in 1199 before he became king.
Isabella later married Geoffrey FitzGeoffrey de Mandeville, 2nd Earl of Essex and died in 1217 and was buried at Keynsham Abbey in Somerset.
Keynsham Abbey was dissolved in 1539 and pulled down.

The duke was buried at Clare Priory in Suffolk which was an Augustinian House founded Richard de Clare, 6th Earl of Gloucester in 1248.
The priory was dissolved in 1538 and largely destroyed .
The burial of Lionel was not salvaged and is presumed lost.

Prior to his death having lost almost all of his French lands he also lost the English Crown Jewels whilst crossing the Wash tidal estuaries in East Anglia.
Soon after this he became ill and stopped at Newark Castle, in Nottinghamshire where died.
The king's widow,Isabella d'Angoulême wasted not time and had her son Henry III crowned at Gloucester Cathedral using one of her Coronets in place of the lost Crown!

Jane had given birth to the future Edward VI on October 12th and the labour was very difficult.Her step daughter ,Mary acted as chief mourner at the Funeral which took place at St George's chapel,Windsor Castle.

The king had traveled to Dover to meet Thierry, Count of Flanders there and later fell ill.
The king's remains were buried at Faversham Abbey in Kent along his wife Matilda and son Eustace of Boulogne.
The Abbey was dissolved and destroyed in 1538 .In 1964 the site was excavated and the burials of all 3 were discovered but sadly when opened there were no human remains.

What happened to the remains of Stephen,Matilda and Eustace is a mystery.

Queen Elizabeth was roughly 43 years old at the time of her death at Cullen Castle, Banffshire.
The Queen's coffin was transported to Dunfermline Abbey for burial,the king later joined her and a tomb was erected.Masses continued to be celebrated up until March 1560 when a mob of Calvinists ransacked the abbey and smashed all Statues,altars and tombs.
In 1818 the coffins of Elizabeth and Robert which were presumed lost were rediscovered and in 1891 anew tomb monument was added.

November 4th,1360 : Death of Elizabeth de Clare11th Lady of Clare,Lady de Burgh and Baroness d'Amory.

Elizabeth was a granddaughter of Edward I of England and was born in 1295 and was married 3 times.
Her first marriage was to John de Burgh, the Earl of Ulster in 1308 and he died in 1313.
Her second marriage was to Theobald II de Verdun and he died in 1316.
Her third marriage was top to Sir Roger D'Amory, Lord D'Amory in 1317.

Elizabeth de Clare died at Ware, Hertfordshire and buried at the Church of the Minoresses Without Aldgate in London.
Her elaborate tomb was lost during the Reformation and the Convent was later destroyed.
