Yesterday I watched " Royaltie" on tv ( a flemisch program about royals ) . They told that many royaltie-watcher tought that Letizia was carring a boy .

"If the child is a boy then under current Spanish legislation, which the Socialist government is seeking to change, he would eventually become king in Felipe's stead, whereas a baby girl, if she has a brother, would not be able to ascend the throne unless the rules were amended"

But the government hasn't done anything , so they think that Letizia and Felipe have already told them it is not necessary , because it is a boy

And also they thougt that CP Mary was carring a girl , for the same reason , because the danish government has taken care of amended the rules

I know , it is just gossip , but maybe this can be true . :)

If the politicians have not done anything it is because in Spain the change of the Constitution is very complicated, it is necessary to do a referendum and to summon elections. Therefore if it is not extrictamente necessarily it will not be done, and if she was a girl still they might wait to the birth of the second son. This depends on the political situation of Spain in this moment where this process might bring many problems.

But I also think that he will be a boy.;)

if its a boy i admit i will be dissapointed bec i want all the future babies in line to take the throne to be females....i know am just being biased, but am sure i'll come around if its a boy.

For the reasons the flemish TV gave, I also think it's a boy.(and a girl in Denmark).

2 months left to finally know...:D

The problem with changing the law in Spain is that it wil take years: the government has to resign, before it can be made.

From the pictures I've seen of CP Letizia, she'll be having a boy. There's an old wives tale that says if you are carrying all up front, it will be a boy, if you are more "rounded" and look pregnant from the back, it will be a girl. I've noticed that its pretty accurate :) But it's just a guess. I think CP Mary of Denmark will be having a boy as well and CP Mette-Marit will be having another girl. :) LOL :) Time will tell :)

I'm thinking boy in Spain, girl in Denmark and Norway, no feeling at all.

I don't have anything to base any of this on, and I'll probably be wrong.

As you said, it's just an old wives tale, who worked for noone of the women I know.

I think it will be a boy. Don't know why, just a feeling. ;-)

i cannt wait to see their baby.....is he a boy or agirl......

I think they are expecting a boy.I hope they don't name him Pelayo. Maybe the baby's possible goodparents will be Queen Sofia and Mr.Ortiz.

I also bet, as a minority, for a baby girl... Letizia is now in her last months (If I'm not wrong) and her stomach isn't really big... I mean Felipe was a big baby... He's really tall... I can't imagine a tall baby boy, just like Felipe, in L's belly!! She's so thin... I think about a tiny baby girl as Letizia!! :p

I drew the Tarots and it said it would be a girl... :);)

a boy
Felipe-Juan Carlos Victor Albert Ferdinand Migual

I think a boy.

I am assuming that they will pick more traditional family names but will they use a name that is already used in family? (for example their nephews already have the names Felipe and Juan)

What names are popular at the moment in Spain? So if something is too widely used they might not use it.

Names from the family tree not yet used:
Fernando (I like), Alfonso(?), Luis (also nice)

Some Spanish boy's name I like but might be too modern?
Alejandro, Mateo, Enrique, Javier, Rafael, Antonio, Jorge, Eduardo

Do you think they will use names from Letizia's family?

The only spanish people I know are called Luisa, Miguel and Irene, and Irene has already been used once in the Spanish royal family.

It will be interesting to see which names Felipe and Letizia will choose.

If he is a boy, I believe that the majority of the people thinks that he will have also Luis' name as the grandfather of Letizia who died this year.

As for Fernando and Alfonso I hope that they do not choose any of these names.
Alfonso is a name that seems to be a bit damned in the family, the last two kings with this name lived in the exile and other members of the family resigned his rights or died young. I do not like anything.

And Fernando I wait that, the last king Fernando is not very well remembered either, and in addition a today this name is totally linked to Fernando Alonso. He is the fashionable sportsman, the youngest champion of the world of the history of the Formula One, reward Prince of Asturias of the Sports 2005, and in addition born in Oviedo how the Princess. I believe that in this moment it is a name that is too fashionable in Spain how in order that also the son of the Princes calls this way.

How well you say the majority of the names that they propose they are traditional. On other names that you have mentioned... Alejandro is called the son of Bruno Góbez Acebo and San Mateo is the festivity that is celebrated in Oviedo...;)

I just read that Beltran Gomez Acebo and Laura Ponte's son is named Luis and that Prince Felipe is the godfather.

Do you think it is likely that they would call their child Luis?

As far as I remember, Letizia's grandfather's (who died in April) name was Luis. I think that sooner or later one of their (5:D ) children will be called Luis, if not as the first name, then as second, third, etc. It's certain, that that man was really importand person in Letizia's life.

I think they'll have a little girl.

With a boy born in Denmark, I'm really hoping for a little Infanta for Spain. Besides, I just love the image of Felipe with a baby girl on his arm. So sweet.

Also, with Elena and Cristína having boys first, I think it would be fun for their brother to have a daughter.

Within Terra's special on the pregnancy, there's a little table that, based on the woman's age and the month of conception, it says if the baby will be a boy or a girl.

Letizia was 32 (September 15th, 1972) and the conception happened in February or March (February being the more accurate guess since the due date was set for November).

Both months point to a girl....
(Mary's, February 5th, 1972, pointing at February, 33 years old, gives us a boy;) )

For what I have read on the Chinese table, it has to be in use according to the lunar age of the mother. The lunar age is one more year, so in case of Letizia they would be 33.
This way it explains it in this web.

Still a girl (February/34):D

You have got involved... Letizia was born in 1972, it means that when the baby was conceived she had 32 and therefore the lunar age would be 33 ... and I believe that he would be a boy.;)
