I could be wrong, but I think that is Carlos sitting next to Maurits and Marilene. I think that Jaime has darker hair
Yes, it is Carlos. Jaime has darker hair.Gabriella said:I could be wrong, but I think that is Carlos sitting next to Maurits and Marilene. I think that Jaime has darker hair
Thanks for the correction Gabriella and The Watcher; I am not too familiar with the children of Irene and Christina. The Watcher said:Yes, it is Carlos. Jaime has darker hair.
Not sure about the answer, but I noticed when you said Juan Carlos, Harald, Carl Gustav, Albert and Henri--they are all from reigning houses of Europe. Infact, they are the ones currently reigning.Alexandria said:Thanks for all the pictures pdas1201.
I know that military uniforms were worn by all the men who have performed some service in their respective countries. I noticed Juan Carlos, Harald, Carl Gustav, Albert and Henri in their uniforms.
But why weren't Constantine and Hans Adams in military uniforms, too? I'm not sure about Hans Adam but I thought Constantine had served time in the Greek military.
yes, and there is not a picture of the heels, really high and spikey &suturegeisha said:What a sad day......
On a fashion note- I really like Mabel, but darn, is that an ugly and garish hat.
And Laurentien's shoes are more appropriate for a dominatrix than a princess at her grandfather-in-law's funeral.
Anyway. Sad pictures.
Lollies!

most important people come in last: everyone is waiting for them.Alexandria said:I think you are right that the order of royal guests goes by who has been ruling longest. Sometimes this protocol is broken however to factor in personal friendships or relationships.
I believe that it was for Queen Beatrix's 60th birthday some years back that this protocol was broken by have the Spanish King and Queen before longer ruling Kings and Queens such as Queen Margrethe because of the personal friendship between Beatrix, Juan Carlos and Sofia.
Thank you to everyone who provided information and pictures of this impressive though sad occasion.
The emotions of this day and this loss were evident by all the family members present. I was so touched by the images of all the grandsons lighting candles, the names of the Prince's daughters on the ribbons on the funeral wreath and a picture of Willem wiping a tear away with maxima holding one of his gloved hands.
The entire family organized an impressive and such a dignified final farewell for Prince Bernhard that was full of personal touches, from the panda, the touches of purple along with the white, Christina singing, the grandsons each playing their own role, the nod to the Prince's military background, it was both personal and grand at the same time.
Someone asked about Mabel, here is a picture of her and Johan Friso as well as one of Jaime de Bourbon (I think), with Maurits and Marilene.

Perhaps because the greek army threw him out of Greece.Alexandria said:Thanks for all the pictures pdas1201.

Perhaps what laurentien wore could be discribded as elegant but I do not care for that particular kind of elegance at a funeral.Cathérine Bergeyck said:Margarita looked so beautiful, better than during her marriage. Laurentien was elegant as well.
I do wonder how dignified it is going to a funeral in a stetson-like hat?
They've been going to private family events for some years now.liv said:I saw Aimee and Anita the girlfriends of Pieter-Chritiaan and Floris walking in the church. They were seated behind their princes. This could be like a confirmation of all engagement rumours.
Am I right?
