Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that there have been a LOT more photo opportunities with CP Vajiralongkorn and family since the birth of his son, Prince Tipangkorn - at least it seems more than in the past or with his sisters and their children.

Is it possible that with the advanced age and health problems of the king that the Thai royal family have been trying to improve the image of the crown prince and prepare the Thai citizens for him as their monarch? Not that I want HM gone, it just seems so "strategic".

Thanks for any response and opinions.

Eventhough I live in Asia, I don't really familiar with Thai Royal Family. Thanks for this thread's starter. It gives me a lot of information.
I start to love this Crown Princely Family. The Princesses are beautiful and the litle Prince is so cute.
Many thanks for those lovely pics.

The heir to the throne of Thailand made a flying visit to Sussex today for a reunion with his former teacher.
Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn stopped at a detached house in Pevensey Road, Worthing, to take tea with Jessie Webster, now in her nineties, who taught members of the Thai royal family in the 1960s. The visit was private, and Mrs Webster's family said she did not want to comment.
Only a handful of people in the town were aware that the crown prince was coming, including the Deputy Mayor of Worthing, coun Christine Brown, who greeted him with a curtsey on arrival.
She said: "I'm told she hasn't seen him for 30 years, although she has spoken to him on the phone."She taught him over there in the sixties. She was a member of the royal family in effect. She was thrilled to see him of course. When he arrived she said 'it is lovely to see you'. "I believe he was only in the country for five hours, so the fact that he came to visit her makes it very special."
The crown prince arrived at the wheel of a black Mercedes with the registration Thai1, followed by a fleet of personal bodyguards and embassy attaches, all wearing black suits and gold or yellow ties, in limousines and people carriers.
Shortly before he turned up, two garden contractors working nearby were politely asked by Thai officials to turn off their wood-chipping machinery parked in the road.
The prince's staff carried two bouquets of flowers into the house, and he spent about 50 minutes inside as a small group of curious neighbours gathered outside.
As the prince emerged, he bowed to Mrs Webster and gave her a formal hug before getting into his car. Mrs Webster, aided by a walking stick, waved from her doorstep and the prince waved back from the driving seat. He then drove off along the seafront, followed in convoy by his entourage.

Nothing on the Chao Phya River is more stunning than a procession of royal barges.

Published on November 6, 2007

Thousands of yellow-clad Thais flocked to both sides of the river yesterday to witness 52 barges - including four royal ones - participating in the Royal Kathin Ceremony.

The procession, involving 2,098 men, was one of the highlights of this year's celebrations for His Majesty the King, who has reigned for 60 years and will be 80 years old on December 5.

The procession started from Vasukri Pier at Sam Sen and concluded at Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn.

On the Suphannahongse Royal Barge was HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, who took part in the procession on behalf of His Majesty the King.

As the procession moved past Siriraj Hospital, where His Majesty and his elder sister HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana are receiving medical treatment, every barge paid respect to the revered royal members.

The Crown Prince's royal consort Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, his daughters HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana and HRH Princess Bajra Kitiyabha, and his son HRH Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti watched the procession from the Royal Thai Naval Institute.

Royal Barge procession thrills Bangkok

BangkokPost.com
Bangkokians received a rare treat on Monday afternoon, and turned out in large numbers to witness the grandeur of the Royal Barge procession on the Chao Phraya River.

Spectators' areas along both sides of the river were fully booked ahead of the Royal Kathin ceremony in which 52 barges and more than 2,000 Navy oarsmen took part.

His Majesty the King graciously requested that HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn preside over the ceremony on his behalf.

This morning Adm Sathiraphan Keyanont conducted a religious ceremony to pay respects to a spiritual deity, an important part of the royal barge processions.

Traditionally, the Thai king takes his place on the century-old royal barge Suphannahongse, or "Golden Swan", to deliver robes to monks in a ceremony marking the end of Buddhist Lent.

However, government officials said His Majesty will not be attending the outing of the Royal Barges, while he recovers from medical treatment at Siriraj Hospital.

The Royal Household Bureau has said the King is regaining strength each day, news welcomed throughout the country.

Thai Royalty inspires women in prison

15 April 2008 - "Kamlangjai is a concept very close to my heart; everybody needs it, particularly those in desperation," said Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of Thailand yesterday at the inauguration of her project's photo exhibition at the Vienna International Centre.

Kamlangjai, which means 'inspire' in English, is a project that provides assistance and support to female and pregnant inmates, as well as their children, and fosters their reintegration into society.

The exhibition was organized on the margins of the seventeenth session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, whose thematic discussion this year is dedicated to violence against women and ways to eliminate it. Her Royal Highness also presented the project at a side panel discussion today on meeting the needs of women in prison.

Prince Dipangkorn enjoys first summer course at school
The summer course's curriculum is quite similar to that of the pre-school program Prince Dipangkorn took part in, as the students are not taught academically. The course runs from 9am until noon, following which students take an afternoon nap and also familiarize themselves with the school environment and their classmates. It is not compulsory for every student to attend the summer course but of course it is a chance for students to get to know their new friends.

It's good time to meet all of the Royalism here online, acid agent you do the wonderful job now of anybody who struggling for the perspective around the world, I wish that all Thai people will love their Royal more, as i emagine i' am eagerly to hear and see alots of wonderful and most famous people.:flowers:

Can you clarify what you mean by "we need to be aware that the royal family of thailand is quite different and unique"? And are there risks to individual citizens in discussing the succession to the throne? You are not the first person to write in such a way that it makes me think it is risky to speculate about this.
I was so sure that I wasn't the first one. Believe me most Thais won't talk about this or even bother to explain to anyone. I'm part Thai myself and I feel uncomfortable talking about this topic like they say Thais have nothing but nice things to say about their royal family and that includes every member.

Sorry if you think I don't try to answer.

I don't mean to be rude to talk about this. But I just like to clarify that the Thai Royals are different and unique because the people look up to them like the British people concider the Queen as a second mother. And The reason why the thais doesn't want to talk about succession the throne is because I think in their mind that the king will lived forever or/and the past when they talk about succession the newly crown kings have died or have been killed, so it like superstition and the people doesn't want to jinks it. If you think about it if you want to royal family to continue to rule the country than just remember this "i hear no evil, i see no evil, and i see no evil"
And again I am sorry to be rude or to offend any one to talk or answer a curiuos question. Sorry (please forgive me.) :ermm:
