What difference would it make? If the trainee pilots that were with William at Cranwell all came out and said that he was a well liked and down to earth bloke who fitted in well and as far as possible, was treated as one of the lads, would they be believed? Or like any other positive slant on...

Actually I have a pretty good experience of selection and recruitment into the RAF. And with all due respect to the son and his friends who have completed the full pilot training course, to get upset about the future King and Head of The Armed Forces being given a 'special' accelerated pilot...

I don't doubt that there are some service personnel with a chip on their shoulder about William's training (especially the person leaking details to the media). Perhaps some of the engineers are unhappy that he didn't choose to join them instead of learning to fly. I'm sure they all turned down...

An apology would only add fuel to the fire as it would imply that he had done something wrong and simply embarrass...

I don't know whether PW would have been accepted as a normal applicant for pilot training or not and I doubt that one can guess about his 'hip to knee' measurement from photographs. In any case I was just pointing out that it is incorrect to say that propective pilots are routinely 'weeded out'...

The height restriction is not as simplistic as overall height. There are a series of measurements that determine whether the prospective pilot can fit into the cockpit which include sitting height and the measurement from hip to knee. I suspect it is this latter measure that ruled out the lad in...
