I’ve always thought that Andrew’s role as a roving ambassador led to him accepting money from very shady people. Financial crimes leave a paper trail. I suspect Charles and William (and the late queen) have seen that evidence and agreed to banish him from public life in exchange for no charges...
This situation has made me appreciate the success that Mary Donaldson has made of her royal role in Denmark. She has truly made it her own and I’m sure there have been many challenges in the past 20 years, not least the culture shock of moving from Australia and Denmark.

It’s interesting when the law has to catch up to medical advances. I hope for a sibling or two, which IMO is important when the child is of older parents.
I’m sure it has been planned for a while but this announcement does seem suspiciously close to the death of QE2. King Charles must have done a happy jig.
My feeling is that were Nikolai and Felix the only children of Joachim, they would have been allowed to keep their titles and the changes...
I just finished reading “The Quest for Queen Mary” edited by Hugo Vickers. James Pope-Hennessy gave a charming summary of his interview with Grand Duchess Xenia in London for the book. It would have been in the late 1950s so shortly before her death.

Curryong - You did a really good job of articulating a very likely scenario...lots of love and unavoidable feelings of conflict too. A side note, I always gave William enormous credit for inviting Camilla's granddaughter to be a member of his wedding party, due to all the mixed emotions he must...
It was in The Diana Chronicles on page 11 "He felt mounting dismay at his mother's relationship with with Dodi"..."The pictures of her frolicking about the Jonikal in August led to a blowup on the phone with his mother."
And also on page 463 after Diana's death, "The young prince had had a...
I've heard that William was displeased with his mother during the summer of 1997. He wasn't impressed with Dodi and he did not appreciate his mother's rather deliberate public displays in a bathing suit, kissing and hugging Dodi in full view of the paparazzi, etc. William had not held back in...
