Fashion and Style of Royal Men, Part 7: September 2021 - July 2022

Well, at least the shoes aren’t brown suede. But there’s something very strange happening with the buttoning to the jacket of the blue suit. And the buttons look as if they belong to another suit entirely.

He may be pretty, maria-olivia, but it doesn't follow that he "wears a suit well" or any other outfit for that matter. Yes, there is definitely something weird about his jacket buttons but I ask you, who puts double pockets in a double-breasted suit or any other kind of suit? I am putting the faintly "sausage" looking jacket down to the weather and him wearing a woolly jumper under it. Not a good look at all.

Thanks for explaining that Marg about the suit coat. I thought it looked a bit off but couldn't figure out why.

Haakon dresses to his own drummer and always will. (The watch is still there.) I think the buttons make the suit intriguingly 'casual-formal' and provide some visual interest.

I just think the jacket is just a little bit more fitted than it needs to be, hence the odd fit. Perhaps Hakan has put on the odd pound or two in lockdown!

A very chic arrival for Frederik at a new sports and culture campus

I'm pretty sure I've seen Gabriel's tie before: does anyone know whether he wore it himself at an earlier occasion or did he borrow it from his dad (I still don't like it)?

They're just blue suits. And Philippe has better ones than that, I think. He usually looks pretty immaculate wearing a suit but this one seems a bit crumpled.

:previous: And there stands the Crown Prince, trussed up like a turkey! It's time Frederik accepted that fashion is problematic in winter and dressed for the weather. Wearing a slim fit fashionable coat is okay for early Autumn and late Spring but wearing it over a jacket riveting my view and almost missed his gorgeous ruby red trousers on Christmas day.

Wearing a thin down vest underneath your coat is pretty standard in Scandinavia during the winter. It's very practical both considering that the weather in southern Scandinavia rarely gets cold long enough to justify the purchase of a thick, expensive coat and that it's one you can remove it you get warm during the day. I have a green vest myself that I couldn't live without.

In Europe it is common to see men wear fitted coats in the deepest winter as well. Warms vests, as used by Frederik, are increasingly used in the very cold months.

I think anyone, including the CP of Denmark, is entitled to wear what pleases him. Obviously he didn´t think it was "problematic"-otherwise he would have chosen differently. His eldest son wore the same styled coat, just differently coloured.

:previous: This thread is called Fashion and style of Royal Men, ergo the fashion of royal men is dissected and applauded or lambasted depending on the individual style of the men and the forum members who are posting. Prince Frederik is perfectly entitled to wear whatever he wants just as we are entitled to cringe or applaud.

On to my favourite shoe offender . . . . or is he?

Haakon's shoes look to be beautifully polished dress shoes covered with a pair of truly ugly royal blue goloshes.

So, what say we? He has appeared with an assortment of shapeless sort of shoes over the years and I have to wonder how often the photos were not clear enough to show he was wearing goloshes and how they are remarkably ugly yet serviceable and should, as in this case, be removed when entering an event such as a Memorial Service in a Church.

Frederik and Joachim keeping warm at the Queen's 50th anniversary of becoming monarch. Bonus points for the scarfs usage.

I do think Frederik's dark blue coat flows a bit better than Joachim's black coat

The Danish men tonight for a dinner with the Queen. All looking handsome with their tuxedos.

Seems only Nikolai brought out the velvet, but are those mini skulls on his bowtie? too fashion forward for this event.

Agree, nice tie. And nice scarves too. A little color, like the hues Frederik used for his tie, wouldn't hurt for the scarves though.
