Kate may do her own thing though. When George goes out on outings with his mother he dresses as most little boys do. Yes, there was the photo of him wearing a rather conservative dark blue jumper and shorts, but that does seem to have been an exception.

Considering that we see pictures of George during informal outings, it's a given that he'd be dressed comfortably, rather than formally. I think that on formal occasions George (and his sibling) will be dressed accordingly, and based on what George wore on his trip to Australia last spring, it will be in a classic/conservative style. Personally, I think it's great that Catherine tends to stay away from more modern looks for formal appearances. It's more appropriate to look elegant, and on a conservative side. In any case, it will be interesting to see what both of these children will be like as they grow.

The dressing conservatively seems more apparent in little royal girls for some reason. Go figure.

Maybe will David Beckham among the godparents!

I vote for another boy, even though I have always bet on a girl...

Ok. The sex is known and there's a brand new Princess of the UK. We still have guessing to do on the godparents.

I just had to post this here because it is definitely the Daily Mail's "laugh it up cuz its too far out of the box to be believed item of the day" report in the form of Sebastian Shakespeare. He is putting the buzz out that is just may be possible that Michelle and Barack Obama will be asked to be godparents for Princess Charlotte. Whatever he's been smoking, I want some.

Scroll down past the story of the Earl of Dunham and his woe-be-gone pile and you'll se the rumor.

I would like to see Laura Lopes as a godmother. It would be a lovely nod to Camilla. She must be close to William and Catherine, her daughter was on their wedding as a flower girl.

Surely there are other females in the Cambridge circle whom William might wish to give a nod to rather than the woman whom his mother hated and resented.

That's silly and absurd and not how the family dynamic works. Technically speaking, Laura Lopes is William's step sister. No reason she couldn't be asked if that's what they want.

I wonder if maybe Rebecca Deacon could be in the running.

Of course, they can ask anyone they want. I'm assuming that they are closer to some others who may have no unpleasant associations.

If that was the case, I doubt Eliza Lopes would have been in their wedding. I think they have no unpleasant associations at all with that part of their family, and probably would frown on it being insinuated otherwise

What about a nod to the woman his father loves and makes him happy?

The Duke of Cambridge doesn't strikes me as someone who'd keep resentments for almost 20 years. People who do that are pitiful.

Of course not. But he might very well consider how his late mother would have felt about it.

Yes! How dare William honour a woman who has made his father very happy and very likely plays a positive role in William's life now. Best to continue punishing her for something that happened 30 years ago.

I suspect they might choose Tiggy Legge-Bourke as one of Charlotte's godparents. I'd also love if they picked Lady Sarah Chatto but I reckon that might be unlikely (although it would be so neat if they chose both her and Prince Harry – who himself is Sarah's godson).

Wow :nonono:

There's no reason for him to live according to what his late mother would have felt about anything.

He has shown that he still loves his mother and honours her memory, but keep Diana's resentments alive after 20 years would be ridiculous and quite pathetic.

Even Diana herself seemed to be reconciling with Charles before her death they seemed to be at a good place. I think in the heat of things she may well have hated Camilla but I think by the time she died she was past that. She was free of it. I've not seen anything indicating otherwise.

Can't imagine there would be a reason to not involve Camilla's family as godparents etc.

Exactly. He has a life of his own to live.

I guess it would be logical to have Beatrice or Eugenie as a godmother.
They had Louise as a flowergirl at their wedding and Zara as godmother to George.
If they choose one of the York cousins now, they have covered each 'clan' of their Windsor-Mountbatten family (other than their own).

Princess Charlotte to be christened at Sandringham next month in 'private' ceremony (and Beatrice and Peter Phillips are favourite to be godparents)

Very nice and very rare pictures inside St Mary Magdalene. We never really see the inside of this church.

I will fall over if Beatrice is picked as godmother. The two cousins have never seemed remotely close. I still giggle that when Beatrice had her mega birthday bash at Windsor Castle, William didn't show even though he was close by playing polo earlier in the day. William had no problem attending Peter's 30th birthday. If a cousin does get the nod I think it'll be Peter Phillips and/or Lucy Middleton.

Maybe Eugenie will be godmother being that she was also christened at the same church (long shot, I know!). I didn't really think William was that close to his cousins except for Peter and Zara. Perhaps Peter will be chosen this time as Zara was chosen last time. I am not a believer in siblings being chosen as godparents as they already have a role in the child's life as aunts and uncles, but she is obviously not my child!

Maybe among Charlotte's godparents will be at least one William's cousin from his mother's side?

"Maybe among Charlotte's godparents will be at least one William's cousin from his mother's side?"

Whom do you suggest? I have a hard time picturing William with any of his maternal cousins. I know Celia Mccorquodale attended his RAF ceremony but that was 7 years ago. Since then Celia has developed quite the rowdy reputation. Her sister Emily would be a more cautious choice but I question her closeness to the Wales boys.

Regarding the godparents, I expect that, like with George, they will choose people among their own age group. I would love to see Charles will be asked this time. It would be nice if Harry and Pippa were asked to be godparents.

As for godparents, I doubt they'll choose Charles, Harry, or Pippa (or James), as I don't think they'll choose from among their immediate family. Also, I think someone mentioned that Harry is going to be in Africa at the time of the christening.

True, but the Queen just might suggest it (part of her ongoing efforts to rehabilitate Andrew's reputation?)

I seriously doubt that will happen. Whomever the Cambridges choose for the godparents are going to be for the sole reason of asking those they really want for their daughter's christening. A special family occasion like this has no place for PR games or appeasing the public or even appeasing anyone. They'll choose who they want.

Yeah, and it doesn't sound like the queen to meddle witht that. Also, remember how William called her about having been given a list of people he had to invite to his wedding and she said "throw it out and start with your friends and we'll go from there". So I highly doubt she would meddle in their choice of godparents.
