Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna's death is a sad event. It is a graceful act upon the Russian government's part to allow the burial in the Imperial crypt.

GD Maria Vladimirovna's claim to the throne might be disputed by some, but her fathers and grandfathers claim was sound. Regardless, the Orthodox Church and the Russian Government - the two most important entities regarding the dicussion - seem to support the claim, considering that they have given both GD Vladimir and GD Leonida public funerals and buried them in the Imperial Family's crypt.

It was not public or official burial. The Romanov Family can use the second Chapel for their deads. And the russian governement don't pay to support burials.
 

Princess from Romanov dynasty buried in St Petersburg

Princess Leonida Georgiyevna Romanov was interred in main cathedral of the St Peter and Paul’s fortress in St Petersburg Thursday.

She died in Madrid May 23 when the Christians of the world marked the Pentecost, which is more widely known in Russia as the Holy Trinity Day.

The funeral service [in] the Cathedral of St Peter and Paul was chanted by the Russian Orthodox Metropolitan of St Petersburg and Ladoga, Vladimir, Bishop Nazarius, who is the abbot of St Alexander of the Neva’s monastery in St Petersburg, and Archbishop Cyril of San Francisco and West America, who represents the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

Among others, the funeral of Grand Duchess Leonida was attended by MMC Norilsk Nickel General Director Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Baburin, Leader of the Russian Nobility Assembly Prince Grigory Gagarin, Spanish Consul General Francisco Pascual de la Parte, French Consul General Michel Aubry, German Consul General Peter Schaller, a Maltese diplomat, and Anne-Marie de Saint-Exupéry (niece of the writer).

Russian representative of the Romanov Family Association Ivan Artsishevsky confirmed that none of the members of his organization were able to be present. Though the RFA wanted neither Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich nor Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna to have been buried in the Grand Ducal vault, Mr Artsishevsky did pay his respects to the deceased. Mr Artsishevsky stated that Nicholas and Dimitri Romanovich Romanov had gone to their local churches and ordered requiems for the repose of the soul of the departed Grand Duchess.

The Russian Imperial House has suffered a heavy loss. Her Imperial Highness, the Dowager Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna—the most august mother of the Head of the Romanoff Dynasty, Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna—has died in her 96-th year of life, in Madrid.

On 21 May 2010, the grand duchess’s health began to deteriorate sharply. Doctors were summoned and were able to stop the heart attack; and on the following day, Her Imperial Highness was feeling somewhat better. But by evening, the pain and labored breathing had returned.

On 10/23 May, on the Feast Day of the Holy Trinity, Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna informed Fr. Andrei Kordochkin, the rector of the Church of the Nativity of Christ, a parish of the Moscow Patriarchate, of her most august mother’s illness. Fr. Andrei immediately arrived at the Imperial Family’s apartment and gave the grand duchess the Most Holy Mysteries of Christ, and read the Canon for the Departure of the Soul. In the evening, Her Imperial Highness was taken to “La Paz” hospital. At her side the entire time was Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna. At 11:55pm local time, the Dowager Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna departed this life in the Lord...

News Release on the Visit of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna, to St. Petersburg for the 40th Day Commemoration of the Death of Her Most August Mother, H.I.H. Dowager Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna​

From 30 June through 1 July, the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna, came from Paris to Russia to participate in the Divine Services commemorating the 40-th day anniversary of the death of her most august mother, H.I.H. Dowager Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna.

Commemoration services were offered over the course of 40 days, in both Madrid and Paris, in the presence of both Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna and her heir, H.I.H. Grand Duke Georgii Mikhailovich. In Madrid, the main commemoration service was held on 9 June 2010 in the Orthodox Cathedral of Ss. Andrew and Dimitrii. Present at the panikhida, which was served by the rector, Archpriest Dimitrios Tsiamparlis and by the clergy of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church, were representatives of the Imperial and Royal Houses of Europe: Tsaritsa Margarita of Bulgaria; Infanta of Spain Maria del Pilar, Duchess of Badajoz, and Infanta of Spain Margarita, Duchess of Soria, the sisters of King Juan-Carlos I of Spain; the father of H.I.H. Grand Duke Georgii Mikhailovich, H.R.H. Prince Mikhail Pavlovich [Franz-Wilhelm] of Prussia; H.R.H. Princess Mariam of Tyrnovo (Bulgaria); Prince Andrew of Liechtenstein; Princess Benigna Reuss; the Duke of Aveyro; Princess Beatrice d’ Orleans; the Countess d’Evreux; and representatives of the diplomatic corps, of the aristocracy, and parishioners of the church. In Paris, the commemoration service was held on 28 June 2010 in the Cathedral of the Holy Grand Prince Alexander Nevskii. Among the representatives of the august royal houses present were Princess Sophia of Wurttemberg and Prince Alexander Pavlovich of Yugoslavia and his wife Princess Barbara (née Princess of Liechtenstein). Also present together with the members of the Russian Imperial House and their most august relatives were members of the diplomatic corps, the European aristocracy, the public, and parishioners of the cathedral.
