TOKYO (AFP) - Empress Michiko is suffering from neck pain, which has been possibly aggravated by the Japanese royal couple's unprecedented trip to the Pacific island of Saipan in late June, it was announced.

Emperor offers condolences over war dead of Marshall Islands, Palau
(Kyodo) _ Emperor Akihito expressed condolences for the war victims of the Marshall Islands and Palau at his meeting with the presidents of the two countries on Thursday, the Imperial Household Agency said.
