Personally, I think CP Victoria gets it right more often than not. She recognizes that first and foremost her role as CP is a professional job. I didn't care for the shimmery gold dress because I thought it was a little too short but for an evening occasion it was okay. At least she isn't starving herself to remain as thin as possible and parading around in designer heels that are too high and unsafe (and rather thoughtless and selfish during current economic challenges). She is truly a natural, warm, professional woman who makes her mark by what she DOES rather than being known for what she WEARS. For the most part, she isn't a slave to FASHION but rather has her own personal STYLE. She wore loose tent-style dresses before her pregnancy and probably will after. I wouldn't expect that to change. Besides with her ever-present glowing smile (before and during her pregnancy), I wouldn't care what she wore because if she tried to be something else/dress like someone else, she might be irritated or unhappy and that would show in her expressions. I prefer natural, pleasant, approachable princessses - and that is something she is miles ahead of any of the others.

Nicely said MARG and Rascal, for me this is the main point:

At least she isn't starving herself to remain as thin as possible

As much as I like seeing her in nice clothes, the most striking thing for me is always her smile, her warmth and naturalness. Sure she has had some bad outfits since she became pregnant, but I wouldn't go so far and say she's letting herself go.

:previous: I would love to see Victoria looking like Mary during her pregnancies but, and it's a biggie, it wouldn't be Victoria!

Let's be honest, when she's not pregnant she is inconsistent with her style. Sometimes she gets it right and sometimes you almost wince, but you always come back for her next appearance. Why would we think that pregnancy would change that? Change her?

Victoria's style is uniquely her own. Often workmanlike, sometimes incredibly elegant and at other times sweetly romantic. I think she has spent too much time with her Crown Princely "cousins" Fred and Haarkon. Not to mention Willem Alexander and Filippe. She's spent so much time being the Crown Princess she hasn't had time to be the Crown Princess!

We actually judge her. Not for how well she does her job but for how "pretty" she looks. Do we rate the guys the same way? I think not. Don't get me wrong, I love looking forward to the "next" appearance as much as any of you but I think we need to keep our eye on the ball. Victoria isn't a Barbie Doll, she's a Princess and she's a working Princess at that.

So yes, she wore her shooties before she was pregnant (ugh) she's wearing them still. Perhaps she loves them, even better . . . . . perhaps they are comfortable (and what pregnant women doesn't love that?).

On the boat arriving she was natural Victoria being herself. Windblown, damp and a megwatt smile, At night she was elegant Victoria. Beautiful hair, lovely dress and accessories, unbeatable escort and . . . a megwatt smile!

I wouldn't change her for a perfect polished "Princess" any day of the week!

Thank you, I agree with you 100%. Victoria is handsdown my favorite royal. And personally I'm sick of seeing everyone's baby bellies hanging out. To me Victoria is classic and I love that. And I think the ponytail makes her approachable.

Me too! I'm not advocating sacks and tents but a little less cling on most would be appreciated.
Classic is the right word for Victoria. Classic, respectful, hard working values.
That's why all went crazy for her Parliament look. Not revealing, ladylike but chic. Maternity emphasis on the neckline and elongating look.
Love her style, warmth and energy.

Crown Princess Victoria is my favourite princess...I love her to bits! And she has the most natural disposition out of all the Crown Princesses. And I do agree that one of her best asset is her smile (her best asset is her personality!).

She is a beautiful woman, with a beautiful body. I just remember seeing her wearing tailored clothing, and I am still disappointed that she's starting to wear shapeless tents. I can understand that she wants to wear comfortable clothing, and believe me I understand (I'm about 2 weeks behind her in my pregnancy and I got married a week after her!), but most of the maternity clothes that she wears are not flattering.

But yes, at the end of the day, I want the Crown Princess to be herself, and if that means she wears tents, but still has that great personality we have all fallen in love with, I can live with that :flowers:

today, September 21, 2011 with a very sporty look :) - lovely and perfect for the occasion.

** Full view **

Can't quite explain why but this picture feels soooo Swedish! :flowers: I think its the hint at the weather and the way she is dressed - ah, autumn, and warm fires and the coziness.....

:previous:

It's hardly always that romantic in the European autumn and winter :D

Another dark combination today: Victoria attended the inauguration of the "Victoria Square" in the
twintown Haparanda Tornio, September 22, 2011.

Victoria didn´t wear leggins in Turku with the black dress, she had thick stockings.
Victoria´s bag, which Daniel was helpfully carrying, is from Tod´s.

She looked nice today, happy as always. It was cold in the north.

I love Victoria for her joy of life. She is unique, and so interesting to watch. Perfect people are boring, Victoria is never boring.

I would like more colours on Victoria's clothing. It's so strange for me see Victoria all winterly dressed. In my city we still have high temperatures even if is autumn

I find that "tent" or flowing Empire dresses are infinitely preferable to the ugly skin tight belly coverings so popular today.

Yes, I also love Empire dresses,Gwyneth Paltrow and Nathalie Portman had really nice dresses of that style when they were pregnant :) I don´t really mind what Victoria is wearing as long as she´s happy and doesn´t start looking grim like Princess Stephanie from Monaco, because as some other posters wrote above her most beautiful assets are her smile and great personality and I would also like to add working ethos and discipline to that, she is one of my favourite princesses and she´s doing her job very well!

I love the black coat and the scarf (it has a velvet look to it).

I don't see anything wrong with a pregnant woman wearing something clingy as long as it is appropriate and flattering. A bare midriff isn't acceptable in evening wear for any woman (pregnant or not) unless she wants to receive inappropriate attention.

And IMO sometimes the less-clingy outfits can be just as - if not more - sexy than some of the clothes that designers and fashion magazines try and tell women are sexy - too tight, too short, too overexposed.

Here are a few of the less-clingy outfits CP Victoria has worn.

The first one I call the pumpkin dress - I think those poufy skirts/hems are terrible and this one in particular just hangs awful, bad collar, color wrong...I hated it.

The second has a high waist (empire?) but is loose and I think Vic looks good here.

The two in the middle are similar with the tiered-skirt. I thought Vic looked fantastic and VERY sexy in both - especially the light blue one.

The fifth one is the same dress (only in black) that Mary wore in a peach color to Fred's 40th birthday. It's nice and looks good on Vic but I think it is a little matronly. More appropriate for someone in their late 30s like Mary than a woman in her early 30s like Vic. But it looked good on both of them.

The last one is my favorite look. IMO this is the sexiest of all of these looks. Great vibrant color, shows off Vic's arms and legs which are beautiful, and is actually one of the longest here. She looks happy, comfortable, professional, sexy, and ready for any evening event.

I think any of these (depending on how far she is actually along) could be used by CP Victoria right now, except possibly with the increased breast size, or if she is actually more pregnant than reported.

I really love the dark blue dress. My favorite out of all the pictures in the link.

I agree with you re Victoria, but this is the fashion threat and I dont like at all what she is wearing, the coat is ok, thankfully covering the black shapeless thing, but the thick tights and shoes look plain ugly. There certainly is a way to dress more appealing in wet and cold weather.

:previous: Short of moving into trouser suits (presumably with thermal linings), I can't see any easy way to keep warm and dry. I can't remember her wearing a fashion trouser suit but to be honest, I don't think trousers are Victoria's "thing' except when the occasion calls for them.

I love the selection of flowing gowns here with the obvious exception of the "Pumpkin". Very flattering, very elegant.

^ With the exception of the first orange cocktail dress, that looks odd, the rest of the dresses are just wonderful. Loved the 2nd blue one in particular!

I don't like all these short smocks. She really doesn't have the legs for them IMO I was so in love with her new style pre pregnancy.

First dress, eh we've seen this recently in purple, yes?

Second, geez in first pic I didn't even recognize her. Heard to have an opinion on either dress as they seem to be what I've come to expect from her.....I echo they are nice.

Ghastly hat, not flattering on her at all.

Like the second outfit quite a lot, the white and black combo look really good IMO and finally she is not wearing a loose outfit which she has been in the past for all her events. The only downside of the look is that hat, totally wrong style for her and for that outfit IMO. A proper brim had would've done the job.

Not very keen on the hat (I had difficulty recognizing her as well). I like the first dress better than the black and white outfit.

Don't like the first outfit, the hat is horrid!

You can really see how the baby's growing in the top pic and I have seen at least one other of her in this dress that shows the belly. If she really is growing that fast I can understand why she is wearing the shapeless dresses.
