And yes, I recognize that she can have clothes custom made moreso than the average plus size person.
I agree that this was definitely not the best look for her, I have actually seen her in much better things.
Maybe I am being too politically correct (and I prefer the term plus size) but calling people fat always comes off as nasty and mean spirited to me.

Being of somewhat short stature myself, and more well padded than I used to be, I think she is absolutely delightful. She is a woman who exudes the joy of life, of family, of motherhood, and every time there is a gathering of the great and the good, I look to see what Maria Theresa is wearing, how she has her hair done, to deeply envy her choice of shoes. She is not a model, she is a real woman and one I can personally relate to, although, truth be told, she has such terrific resources . . . oh how I would love a cruise through her wardrobe!

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Wedding Wednesday: More Jewels in Luxembourg
Love the jewels that, Mathilde, Victoria, Mary, Margrethe, Silvia, Lalla Samla, and Maxima were wearing.

They don't wear heels all day, every day. I'm sure they wear more comfortable shoes and exercise at other moments.

When G & S were doing their walk about after the civil ceremony, there was an instant where S almost took a tumble, but was able to recover. I can't find a video clip. Perhaps she twisted her ankle.

OMG...I saw that on video!
She came very close to taking a spill right there on the street but recovered quickly and nicely...all you saw was a quick jerky movement and lots of blonde hair flying. She was wearing high Chanel pumps.
What a nightmare if she had twisted or broken her ankle the day before her Church ceremony...I honestly don't see how she would have made it down the aisle with a bad ankle and that heavy bridal gown!
Stephanie should make learning to walk properly in heels a priority when she returns from honeymoon.

And Mary... It is a nothing special costume for an ordinary/average day, but not to this wedding.
Princess Maxima seems as she would go to a hunting-party...
I found Princess Caroline very elegant, very beautiful, a really aristocrat, who knows, how she dress up to an wedding in this standard.
I found also Princess Mathild very elegant, also Princess Victoria and Princess Letizia.
But I don't like the outfit the Countess of Wessex, Princess Mette-Marit (but the Valentino-jacket is very elegant, only to dark for this occassion), Martha-Louise, Marie-Chantal and Clothild Courau.

To me most elegant lady was the sister of the late Countess Alix of Lannoy, who was escorted into the cathedral by GD Henri. Both Henri and the sister were beaming. She wore a suit the same color as that of GD Maria Teresa. If you have a picture you might put it up. No one seemed to notice her, but I did.
The Lannoy family produced several elegant ladies. One was Nathalie Hamilton, who was dressed in a graceful flowing black dress, in mourning still for her mother, but still looking wonderful.
Another I can't remember the name of. She read from the scriptures at the end of the wedding when several other members of her family and of Guillaume's family were reading. She was all in Fall colors, brown with colorful flowers and leaves, and a neat hat with a medium-wide brim. She went by quickly but I noticed how coordinated and lovely was her outfit.

The square outside the city hall seems to be made of cobbled stone and it's very difficult to walk with high heels on such surface, there is always a risk that the heels get caught between two stones, regardless how skilled you are at walking in high heels (and that kind of surface quickly ruins the heels of the shoes too).

Grand Duchess Maria Theresa is just the size that most women who have given birth to five children, *four boys, one is about six feet six inches tall are moreover she seems to have lost an inch or so which middle aged people are victims of.
Also I recall a few years ago reading that she went to Belgium for treatment which was not disclosed she could be on some medication that is causing her a weight problem. It is in some people/s genes to be slender and I am one of them although I have a secret which helps me to maintain my slender body.
Maria Theresa still look young and youthful and not wrinkled.

Guillaume and Stephanie are related through Duke Charles of Arenberg
Administrator:
I do not know where to post this: Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie are related through Charles Marie Raymond d'Arenberg. Charles is an ancestor of several royals.

1 Grand Duchess is somewhat flashy..........
2 Princess Marie Chantal... too simple
3Princess Letizia is wearing a hat that dwarfs her as she is not tall enough to command this gargantuan asymmetry on her head.
4 Queen Silvia knows her colours
5 Princess Caroline is attired appropriately and elegantly
6Where is Farah Diba?

I found Princess Caroline and Princess Letizia the most elegant of the female guests at the Cathedral, along with the women in the de Lannoy family.
I must say the de Lannoys are a very distinguished looking group...the men, women and even the children!
Lalla Salma? No way. Her hair looked frizzy and over processed, imo.

I think the Ducchess looked great on her sons wedding engagements. She has put some weight over the years, but who cares? She is a remarkably beautiful woman and I think she always wears proper clothing that suits her figure.
Not everyone is blessed with a slim figure and not everyone looks good with a slim figure. MT however is elegance and beauty.

I agree with this, skinny does not always equal elegance and beauty

The Grand Duchess is a very beautiful lady who is educated and cultured. Physiologically if she does not reduce her BMI her chances of illness resulting from that extra weight increase. I agree that skinny does not always equal elegance but it does to increased health and a measure of longevity Let us take into consideration that The Grand Duchess does not smoke and after all those children she would have had hormonal changes that are not reversible.
However that being her body and considering the respect I have for her I say she knows best what to do for herself.
The Grand Duchess is adored by one and all.
