I doubt that The Queen would allow herself to be used in a bad light. I am sure it will be well done or it will never happen.

BBC News - London 2012: Olympics opening ceremony details revealed

The Opening Ceremony will feature a replica of the English Countryside complete with cows, geese, horses and - oddly enough - 180 NHS nurses.

I think its an awful idea but that's just me. Thoughts?

This is one of those ideas that's weird enough to either turn out delightful and inspired or completely and totally dreadful.

We'll have to wait and see.

I would have gone with Paul Bettany, as Chaucer, as the host and do themes like King Arthur and jousting, Robin Hood and Shakespeare.

First I've heard that too. Wouldn't it be great if he decided to do tribute to John Lennon and sang "Imagine"? I think that would be so appropriate for the closing ceremonies.

I'll certainly be looking forward to seeing him. Makes me wonder if part of the show for the closing ceremony is going to be around the "British Invasion" of the early 60s. Come to think of it, that's when I really started getting hooked on all things British

aHa! Gotcha. Read your first statement about Paul all wrong. Haven't quite had my daily quota of coffee yet today.

I am really starting to get excited about the Games. Looking forward to watching Michael Phelps swim again. From what I read, this will be his last time competing in the Olympics. He plans to retire from competition and focus more on his Michael Phelps foundation which focuses on kids.

I quite like this idea; it's nice to see it decorated without Union Flags for a change and it is rather colourful seeing all the competing nations flags' together.

The Olympic Torch is currently working its way through my village, and will be around Yorkshire for the next two days. The strange thing is, myself and quite a few of my neighbours and friends aren't that bothered by the relay and are more concerned about the disruption to normal everyday life. We've got roads shut, police escorts a massive bus following the torch around and slowing down traffic. I myself have done two late nights as work and decided to have a lie in then get up to see the torch. My mother and sister left to try and get a view of the torch, I was sceptical that they would get a good look but apparently in our local biggest town there's hardly anyone out.

BBC News - London 2012: BBC gives first sight of Olympic titles

Upon seeing these titles, my first thought was "When did Pixar become an Olympic sponsor?"

I didn't think it looked Pixar-ish until the first shot of the female gymnast, then it went downhill.
