According to the Swedish newspapers the organizers had known all day long that Prince Daniel might not be able to attend but everyone was hoping he would get better but that did not happen. So he did not just give an hours notice.

According to the royal calendar Daniel visited on Thursday Fihem Bygg & Fastighetsservice in Fittja. The company provides a range of services such as caretaking, cleaning, repair, graffiti removal, snow removal and landscaping.

Daniel yesterday at the icehockey match AIK-Skellefteå, Skellefteå won at overtime 5-4.

A work event today for Daniel, put today at the royal calendar:
Meeting with Arne Ljungqvist.
I guess he is the Arne Ljungqvist, a Swedish medical researcher and sports personality, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), chairman of IOC's Medical Commission, and vice chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Two girls were at the icehockey game between AIK and Skellefteå last Wednesday, they saw that Daniel was sitting close to them. They decided that they are not going to leave the game without at least attempting to take a photo with him. So at the pause between 2nd and 3rd periods Daniel walked past them and they asked if they could take a photo with him and he answered "absolutely." The writer took first a picture of her friend Cornelia and Daniel and her hands have never been shaking so much than when she took the photo. Then Cornelia took a photo of her and Daniel and they thanked him very much for posing with them and Cornelia said "good luck with your baby".

Indeed, what a sweet gesture. :)
That certainly made the day of two young ladies.
The more I see and hear of Prince Daniel, the more I like him; he is like Victoria - authentic, so to speak.

Daniel visited today the Ministry of Finance. He met the Minister for Finance, Anders Borg and the Minister for Financial Markets, Peter Norman.
The purpose of the visit was that Daniel would get to know the Ministry's operations.
Besides the ministers, Daniel met also the State Secretaries and officials of various departments to hear about how the ministry works.

A wonderful opportunity for Daniel, but why was it needed? That is to say, why did Prince Daniel have to familiarise himself with the workings of the Ministry of Finances? Is it expected that he will play some sort of active public role (aside from fulfilling engagements on behalf of the Crown) once Victoria becomes Queen?

I also have a question concerning the role of a Regent in Sweden; is next adult in the Line of Succession automatically a regent in case of incapacity, unavailability, absence or minority of the Monarch? Or the position can be fulfilled by others (such as the Monarch's spouse or surviving parent)?

Daniel has already visited before this at least the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, so it seems logical that he visits all the Ministries.
