Talk about a "Tenant in Time". What great history. I wonder if the use the old church as an Excavation Room along with the caves. To be a kid in that place.

Marlborough House, which was the residence of the Duke of Marlborough, was given to Princess Charlotte, daughter of Prince George (the future George IV), and her husband, Prince Leopold as their London home. After Charlotte's demise, Prince Leopold continued to use Marlborough House until he Became King of the Belgians in 1831.
Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester bought the Barnwell Manor estate in 1938.
Barnwell is a Tudor manor house which has the remains of the thirteenth century Barnwell Castle in its grounds.
Prince Michael of Kent met his future wife, Marie-Christine while visiting the Gloucesters at Barnwell Manor.
In 1562 Sir William More began to rebuild Loseley House, his Surrey manor house at the request of Elizabeth I.
Elizabeth visited Loseley House four times.

These pictures show how a Catholic monastery which was owned by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I has been converted into a luxury home with a £5.5million price tag.
Horton Priory in Ashford, Kent was built in the 12th century - although within its grounds are parts of a settlement dating back as far as the early Iron Age.
The complex was originally owned by King Henry I, but he later handed it over to the Cluniac order of monks to be converted into a medieval priory.
After the dissolution of the monasteries it was seized by Henry VIII, who passed it on to his daughter Elizabeth before the home was given to the Mantell family in 1970.
The Grade I-listed mansion is situated in 55 acres of land, and has undergone a thorough makeover to turn it into a modern home. It now boasts a private cinema, wine cellar, swimming pool, 11 bedrooms and even a driving range.

Horton Priory looks lovely inside. I particularly like how it looks fresh and modern in some rooms, but still gives off that old Tudor feel.

Earlier today I visited Knole House in Sevenoaks, which I guess is a stately home with royal connections. It is now owned by the Sackville-West family (at present I do believe the 7th Baron Sackville and his family are residing there), although in Tudor Times Cardinal Wolsey 'gave' Knole to Henry VIII (apparently after much persuasion), where he spent a lot of time deer hunting, as did Elizabeth I. Most of the furniture which was unwanted by the RF in Stuart Times also ended up at Knole, there is a bedroom with a lot of Stuart furniture there.

Here are some photos of Knole:

And some more information from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knole_House

Skaill House is on one of the Orkney Islands, and allowed photography inside.

The guest book is open to Her Majesty's signature - I think she stayed overnight - and as you can see there are many Royal photos on the table.

Nearby is the famous Skara Brae archaeological dig, and it is very interesting to go from Neolithic homes in the ground to this house - still decorated as it was in the 1950s.

Here are a some of the photos I took.

Ludlow Castle

It was of course from Ludlow that the new young King, Edward V began his journey to London and was intercepted by his uncle Richard, Duke of Gloucester. It was in this castle that Arthur Prince of Wales died in 1501. Mary spent time at Ludlow when she was young and in the favour of her father King Henry VIII.
