Thanks for the updates!
It is great to see Lady Gabriella attending the event. I am not sure why she opted for the monochrome black look though.

Well, quite big occassion for the Michaels! Wonder if that would be counted for them by Iluvbertie ;). The Prince was representing the Queen.

Although the commemoration is great, the sculpture is just terrible, awful. :ermm:

Royal Naval Association (RNA) : The Naval Service Memorial Here is some detailed article about the preparations and order of the ceremony. IMO it's a VERY interesting source of how royalty-attended events are prepared in advance, including planning ceremonial and protocol matters and who is involved in this.

In Princess Michael of Kent, Peter Lane wrote:

Princess Michael hoped that her children will turn out to be like their cousins, James and Marina Ogilvy: 'They are the nicest children I know; charming, eloquent, studious ... fun, good tempered, with behaved, beautiful manners and enterprising,'

I highly doubt that Prince and Princess Michael represented the Queen. It would be fair to say that it was just a public appearance. The couple did look regal as usual.

I like her hat.

They do sometimes officially represent the Queen and this would be the kind of event where they would do it.

Prince Michael of Kent speaks about his secret battle with prostate cancer | Mail Online
Prince Michael of Kent still carries out a busy schedule of engagements at the age of 72, but the Queen’s beloved cousin has been fighting a secret health battle.

The grandson of George V underwent surgery for prostate cancer and has been successfully receiving treatment.

Members of the Royal Family are usually reluctant to discuss their health issues, but the Prince has bravely decided to confirm details, in support of the thousands of other sufferers of the disease.

I was just reading that online, wishing the Prince a full recovery.

Ooh! She's in a trouser suit again, and looks very smart, too. Good for her!

Beautiful pictures Al-bina and thanks for sharing.

Nice article w/ interview of Prince Michael
Interview: Prince Michael of Kent - Country Life

Stupendous article!!!
I agree with Prince Michael's statement: 'I think more needs to be done to educate townspeople about the countryside and imbue in them a sense of responsibility.'
The town / city may be teriffic for social life and certain activities.
However, the pleasure of the countryside is one of a kind! :thistle::thistle:

I agree. I lived in the country when I was younger but was much more used to the hustle and bustle of city life. Now, that I'm older, I long for the countryside again. I think living in the city adds a great deal of stress to one's life.

I agree with both you and Cyril. I think an underlying message from Prince Michael is that the countryside is not a theme park. It supports business, homelife, environment and needs to be taken seriously. Sadly, there are political leaders who want to tarmac it over.

On Saturday 27 September, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent attended the Riviera Ball in aid of the Red Cross at the Estoril Casino. Also present were the Duke (who is joint patron of the ball with Prince Michael, if I have understood the translation) and Duchess of Anjou, the Count and Countess of Evreux, Princess Adelaïde d'Orléans and the Count and Countess of Dreux:
