:previous: I've sent them to you except Saturday, the details are in the post above.

They are driving me nuts!

Cepe - you are a lifesaver for someone like me who wants to keep these records - and for everyone here who wants to read them.

I suppose I could subscribe to The Times myself.

Weekly update to 26th June, 2014

A very busy week with over 140 engagements. The Queen and Philip did over 30 between them in their tour of Northern Ireland with both also undertaking engagements in England on both the day they left and the day they returned. Charles had a busy week with engagements behind closed doors for the most part. Harry went to the football, of course, and there were also a number of visits to the tennis.

These are the final figures as a breakdown of total of each type of engagement by royal to the end of June. The number in brackets is the total for that type of engagement by that royal for the year while the number not in brackets is the total for May e.g. The Queen had 10 Audiences in April and has done 41 Audiences so far this year.

Where there is a 0 outside the brackets it means that that royal did none of that type of engagement in June but that they have already done at least one of that type of engagement this year.

Note: Only Katherine (HRH The Duchess of Kent) has not undertaken any duties this year and going on past experience, unless there is a major church service she won’t do so.

I would also like to remind people that if there is a difference between the breakdown and the total it is because there are times when an engagement is worded something like: 'HRH aaa visited xxx and then attended a dinner'. When this is at the one venue this is counted as one engagement but in the identification of types of engagement I am identifying both activities. An exact example of this would be Her Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, and His Royal Highness, escorted by the Principal, listened to a performance by the a capella choir in Bradenstoke Hall, viewed displays of students' project work, and met students, members of staff, governors and supporters in the Great Hall. which I count in the weekly totals as 1 engagement for each of The Queen and Philip while for the above list I register this as Performance, Viewed and Met People.

Weekly update to 3rd July, 2014

A very busy week with over 150 engagements, which isn’t a real surprise as The Queen and Philip are undertaking Holyrood Week and Charles and Camilla are doing their Wales Week. Most of the family did something with Harry returning from South America after doing 19 engagements there. Andrew was very quiet this week with only three engagements.

Shouldn't Harry be at 59 if he went up 18 from 41?

No - two things have happened:

1 - I have an error with the way I edited by form at home - last week Harry went up 11 and I didn't edit that 11 to 8 correctly.

2 - I said that Harry had done 19 engagements while away - which is why I didn't pick up on my error when doing a quick proof read as that figure was already in my head.

Harry is on 49.

Just picked up CC in the Times for 8th July - classic error.

We know that Charles, William and Harry attended the BITC awards - seen the pix and read the papers. However, the CC says:

The Prince of Wales, President, Business in the Community, and The Duchess of Cornwall, with Prince Henry of Wales, this evening attended the Annual Responsible Business Awards at the Royal Albert Hall, London SW7, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

Camilla was in Scotland
The Duchess of Rothesay, Chancellor, the University of Aberdeen, this afternoon opened Aberdeen Sports Village Aquatics Centre,
Her Royal Highness, Chancellor, the University of Aberdeen, afterwards attended a graduation ceremony at King’s College, Aberdeen.

Iluvbertie - I think we should give that one to William, but hopefully it will be corrected.

Weekly update to 10th July, 2014

This is an edited version thanks to Cepe who pointed out that there were entries for the CC - three extra for Charles and Edward and 2 more for Anne.

Not as busy this week with only 109 engagements.

Cepe I did notice that typo in the CC and wondered if Camilla hadn't been supposed to attend but William stepped in at the last minute when someone realised that she wouldn't be able to get back from Scotland in time. I have seen that happen before with the CC - that a scheduled person was listed as still attending an event even though the press reported that the royal had cancelled the event - William cancelled an engagement in December 2012 when Kate was in hospital but the CC still had him attending the event - when he clearly didn't. So maybe a couple of weeks ago someone realised the problems with the timing and added William to replace Camilla but that the CC, which had already been set up still had her name in stead. A thought only.

There have issues with CC again this past wk. there were engagements every day inc S/S - did you manage to get them all?

I didn't have anything for the 7th July but have the others.

Iluvbertie, thank you for all the work you do to gather these figures every week. You're so thorough and conscientious with it.

Weekly update to 17th July, 2014

As we are approaching the slow period of the year – August – when very few engagements will be done based on past years (although this year the figures will be padded by the commemorations of the start of WWI – by that I mean there will be more done than is normal in August and nothing about the actual events themselves which should be appropriately solemn and memorable given what they are commemorating) this is probable the second last week where the figures will approach 100 until October unless a number of royals undertake an overseas tour/s.

Weekly update to 24th July, 2014

The Queen is heading to Balmoral for her two months up there so her figures will slow down over the next two months. According to the Future Engagements section of the British Monarchy website she has no engagements at least until September but we do know she has something on the 4th August. She normally does very little in August – her boxes every day of course but out and about – not much at all. Philip will be joining her and Charles and Camilla also spend time on the Balmoral estate while the other children of the Queen usually visit for a week or more. August is the slowest month of the year traditionally.

I wonder why the Cambridge's aren't in the official engagements list on the Monarchy website anymore? They were there earlier this year and now their engagements have once again disappeared.

Try the POW website.

I know their engagements are listed on the POW website but just wondering why their engagements disappeared from the official Monarchy website? I think their press office isn't in good order.

If you are referring to Future Engagements - that has always been rubbish from my experience of reading it for the last 12+ years with many events not listed at all and some royals not ever appearing.

Charles and Camilla, even on their own website, often don't appear to be having any future engagements - even for the next day and they will end up doing 6 each somewhere.

Andrew also is rarely on the FE.

Even The Queen can sometimes not show up on the FE - e.g. the FE says The Queen has no engagements scheduled for August but we have been told she will be doing an event for the commemoration of the outbreak of WWI next Monday. Many of the royals are being listed as doing engagements that day but not The Queen, Philip, Camilla, William, Kate, Harry or Andrew.

In fact for the entire family there is nothing listed in August from the 8th to the 31st. Now traditionally August is the slowest month (with often fewer than 50 engagements for the entire family for the month - that is an average week throughout the rest of the year) but 3 weeks with no engagements for any royal is a bit extreme.

I wouldn't read anything into the lack of information as the FE simply is unreliable.

I did a count for a few months back in 2012 on the expected number of engagements per month and would be out by up to about 100 from what was listed at the beginning of the month and how many were actually done.

They do get recorded in the CC when they carry out an engagement that The Queen approves as being an official one - but that isn't necessarily the same as what the media covers. The media can report on royals doing charity stuff etc but the Queen doesn't regard that as an official engagements and so it isn't in the CC.

I think a team with fresh and hip ideas is need for the royal websites. There seem to be a lack of order in the press team. I hardly pay much attention to the websites because it don't seem to grab my attention and its not updated as it should be.

I agree they need someone with energy. However, the person also has to have an eye for detail.

My favorite example is the current Duke of Cambridge info on royal.gov.uk. His main bio says "He went on to train as an RAF Search and Rescue Pilot with the RAF, graduating as a fully operational pilot in September 2010. The Duke is a fully operational Search and Rescue Pilot with the Royal Air Force, based at Anglesey, Wales."
His military Career page is updated and says he left the service last fall. Which to believe? What lesson does this teach some 12 year old using the site to research an essay on the life of Wills?
It's a poor representation of the members of the family. (I have seen other examples). It's the kind of misinformation that is simply not allowed in a lot of organizations. I've known people who lost their jobs, writers who lost publishers, and people who lost reputations over these kinds of mistakes.
And it makes me crazy! They will crawl all over the press for errors - but do not bother to fix their own web pages.
Sorry for the rant. :whistling:

Weekly update to 31st July, 2014

As The Queen is now at Balmoral it will appear that she is doing very little but it should be remembered that she still does her red boxes each day and that she may entertain, in an informal setting visitors to the UK as well as the PM over the coming two months. Edward and Sophie have been at the Commonwealth Games most days – Sophie has missed one day only. The York’s and Kent’s haven’t been at all but all the others have made an appearance.

Weekly update to 7th August, 2014

This was a slightly busier week than last week but that is due to the 31 engagements that related specifically to the commemorations for the outbreak of WWI. Take those events out and the total is 30 which also includes the final couple of days of the Commonwealth Games. The numbers are normally in the very low range through August but this year they will be slightly up on the average.

I must once again give a huge thank you to Cepe who has been able to send me the details of the CC for the days when the British monarchy website has failed to update - an all too regular occurrence this year sadly. Without Cepe's help I would not have been able to do this at all as it is averaging up to 5 days a month that they aren't updating at all. Their PR is pretty bad in this area.

Another interesting statistic I thought I would throw in this week is the Future Engagements for the upcoming month:

31st August - Edward will attend a Dedication Service
31st August - Richard (Duke of Gloucester) will present colours.

and that is it for the rest of the month. A note that Philip had an FE listed for the 8th but as I won't get that CC until next Tuesday Sydney time I can't be sure if it went ahead.

If the FE is accurate (and I have never known it to be) it will be a very, very slow month - even slower than normal. The PoW website has nothing for Charles or Camilla either and I can never find anything on their site or elsewhere for William, Kate or Harry.
