It does not come often that someone takes his birthday as an opportunity to give others a gift. Just that did Count Björn Bernadotte on his 40th birthday last year. He raised funds among others from his guests (by asking donations instead of a present) and donated to Konstanz a Slackline and Boulder-course which Mayor Uli Burchardt officially received in the end of June.
Count Björn was surprised and impressed by the willingness to donate. About 38000 euros were donated to installations, maintenance and tree protection.

Countess Marianne Bernadotte has given an interview to Svensk Damtidning

Marianne Bernadotte: "The theater was life and death until I met Sigvard, then he became everything to me"
When Marianne Bernadotte and Prince Sigvard met 60 years ago, it was clear from the first moment that they belonged together. And they would have a long life together, for over 40 years they were married. Marianne gave up a thriving theater career because of Sigvard. She has never regretted. Instead of being a star on the scene, Marianne has instead made a series of significant efforts in the medical field - for example in the sciences as dyslexia and children's eye diseases.
From the first moment it was clear that they belonged together. Both were married, but they both fell head over heels for each other.
It's been nearly 60 years since then, and we are sitting at a secluded table at an inn in Stockholm. Summer fans through the windows. Marianne tells about life with her loved ones and all the commitments she is passionate about. Life is here and now, although Sigvard is constantly in her thoughts. It's been fourteen years since he passed away. She says with a little smile that he always made her feel the best at everything she took on with.
- We did get a long life together and were married for over 40 years. Nobody can live forever. You have to seize the time, because it goes fast.
Marianne had three children in five years with her first husband, inventor and a son of a diplomat, Gabriel Tchang. Taking time off was not an option, even when their little two year old so tragically passed away from complications after a vaccination against whooping cough.
- But I got there in time, she says, while her eyes fill with tears quietly. Losing a child is the hardest thing you can be involved.
Marianne was even forced to play on the same day her son was buried. "The show must go on".
For years ago Marianne's eldest son died of cancer.

Countess Bettina Bernadotte's interview about the history and future of Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, done by Alaina G. Levine, who participated at the meeting this year.
"The goal of the first conference was to link the German medical community back to the international science community. Born as a Swedish prince, my father later lived on Mainau and his two co-founders of the meetings thought involving Nobel Laureates would be a good idea. So the first meeting became reality. There was a lot of work, because there was no internet where you could look up an email address or find all the Nobel Laureates. In 1950, they began inviting everybody and the first meeting was held in 1951."
"He always had this perception that if you are born with a special background, you have the duty to do something meaningful with it. So for him it was very easy to find out who the right person was to talk to, and he managed to get the Nobel Foundation interested".
"It was at this one luncheon on Mainau: when all the participants came to Mainau, we could come home from school earlier and have lunch with Nobel Laureates. The real fascinating thing is that the Laureates are so curious and curiosity-fostering, and I remember sitting and having lunch and they were doing little experiments, playing at the table with water and straws. So that’s my first memory with the meetings."

Countess Sandra Bernadotte was for the second year the patron at the Charity Golf Tournament of Rotary Club Memmingen-Allgäuer Tor, the tournament was organized ninth time.
Rotary Club Memmingen-Allgäuer Tor

Countess Sandra was interviewed at the tournament. She told that she started to play golf in 2015 and wasn't ready to play at the tournament yet. But she promised already last year to the Memminger Rotarians that she will play when she feels fit with golf. She started to play golf because she and her husband wanted to have a sport they can exercise together. They have this year even created a small golf practice area on the island of Mainau, where they chip and putt.
Sandra is asked if her Golf Tournament Premiere will be on 1st October?
Sandra says that they will see, because she has to confess that she is unlike her husband still beginner at golf with a handicap 54. Maybe Björn is playing with and Sandra takes care of the presentation of their foundation, as the tournament is in favor of their Café Vergissmeinicht on the island Mainau. In their Café Vergissmeinnicht they employ young people with special needs, which come partly from a difficult social environment or have minority backgrounds.
