Yes,I know but why is the XVI is in between Carl & Gustaf instead of being after Gustaf such as King Carl Gustaf XVI?GrandDuchess said:Because he is the 16th Carl or Karl to rule Sweden.
It gives itself. Because he is the 16th Carl or Karl - not the 16th Carl Gustaf.srivishnu said:Yes,I know but why is the XVI is in between Carl & Gustaf instead of being after Gustaf such as King Carl Gustaf XVI?
My suggestion is that you contact them via telephone, you call the switchboard and ask to be directed to the Royal Gift Shop at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. You can find the telephone number here.towzer12 said:Hello - I would also like to purchase a catalog of the Queen's Dresses. Does

Do you mean how long the House of Bernadotte has held the throne of Sweden, or do you mean the age of the individual members of the Royal Family? The answer to the first question is since 1818, when Karl XVI Johan became king of Sweden and Norway. You can read about the Royal Family and more about history on the Royal Court's website.cloclo said:HI all, i have a question How old is the Swedish royal family??
No, there no rules for names - but there are traditional names that male members of the Royal Family, from different dynasties, have held that I suppose will be used also in the future. Carl/Karl and Gustav/Gustaf are the two most important names.cloclo said:when there is a newborn in the royal family, are there any rules or any ummm lets say measures to follow, i mean does the new baby need to carry the name of one of his ancestors? especially when its in the case of a future king or queen?...for example Victoria, does anybody know why did her parents choose that name for her? thanks
I think so... I know I´ve read somewhere that Victoria played piano when she was younger...cloclo said:hey all, i know i ask alot of question hehe lol, but i was wondering does any of the swedish royal family members play any musical instrument? lets say Victoria, Carl phillip, Madeleine? The King, the Queen? any relatives maybe?? ty

Yes, but that was during a official visit and she def. couldn´t play... It sounded awful lolHereditary Mapmaker said:Isn't there also a pic floating around somewhere of Victoria playing the violin or viola?
I always believed that Princess Victoria was named after her great-great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. I've always assumed that because that's what the Wikipedia page on Princess Victoria mentions (I know, I know, Wikipedia is hardly the greatest source of the most factual information, but it's the only place I've found mention of the origins of her name). It would seem more correct to me for her to be named after Queen Victoria of Sweden, but can anybody validate either possible origin?GrandDuchess said:I think Crown Princess Victoria was named after Queen Victoria of Sweden (née of Baden), wife of King Gustav V, and the one who created the Royal Family's beloved summer haven Solliden on the island of Öland.
Sorry but your incorrect robby86 Crown Princess Victoria will be actually the second Queen Regnant in Sweden's history. The first Queen Regnant was Queen Christina who succeed her father King Gustav II Aldolf she ruled (1632-1654) She abicated claiming that she was ill and the burden of ruling was too much. But the real reasons were that she did not want averison to marriage and her secert conversion to roman catholicism which was proscribed in Sweden.robby86 said:Since Victoria will be the first Queen of Sweden (not through marriage) will the ceremony be any different then that of the King? (probably a stupped question, but I was just wondering )
actually we´ve had more ruling Queens.Next Star said:Sorry but your incorrect robby86 Crown Princess Victoria will be actually the second Queen Regnant in Sweden's history.
