The social and cultural enthusiasm around the 5th Centennial of the Virgen de la Consolation of Utrera had its zenith yesterday. Prince Felipe received the Gold medal of the City and was named Adoptive Son of this land, during a visit that assembled thousands of neighbours, who responded to the invitation sent by 9000 sms and by 1000 pamphlets that were distributed. Don Felipe inaugurated the exhibition Caminos de Consolación and prayed before the image of the Virgin, thus obtaining, like any other pilgrim, the parchment that credits the concession of indulgences, through the visit to the Sanctuary, during the Jubilee.

Don Felipe brought to Utrera nearly one hundred journalists, among which a German TV station, who’s doing a documentary about the Prince and Princess of Asturias, after the great success obtained by another one about the King and Queen.

Warmed by his overcoat (the rain stoped during three hours, but the cold got worse), he crossed the street De La Cuadra, greeting the Utreran crowd, way to the City Hall, on whose balcony (already only with his blue suit, stripped shirt and red tie) he waved to the crowd, with special attention to the children of the Center of Special Education Maruja Quintana, who were calling for him, with posters saying "Come here Felipe!".

Once in the plenary sessions’ hall, the mayor told the Prince: "We received you with humility and with affection; many of us have seen you grow up", before presenting the Prince with the Medal and the title of Adoptive Son of the City.

Before representatives of the town and other guests (like the Duchess of Alba), Don Felipe remembered then the "narrow bonds" that unite Utrera to the Crown. After excusing the Princess and transmitting "her affection" (when the Royal House responded to the invitation in 2006, the attendance of Doña Letizia was then confirmed), the Prince of Asturias emphasized the historical relevance of this municipality. The speech included also references to the olive production and the cattle sector and ended cheering up the future, the human capital of the men and women of Utrera, the bet for the new technologies and the artistic and the cultural values that were born in Utrera.

Afterwards, once arrived to the Convent of Minimos, the esplanade was all a human wave. The Prince greeted the crowd on the street and then a group of businessmen, who have been the sponsors of this 5th centenary, before visiting the exhibition and praying, in solitaire, before the Virgin of Consolation. Then, David Gutiérrez (a young friend of Don Felipe) sang the “ Plegaria de Consolación”.

Then the Prince greeted once again the children and adults, still waiting for him on the street, when the rain started to fall and Felipe went to the banquet, with which he concluded his visit.

Someone created a web blog for Felipe, pretended to be him and wrote his diary. Anyone still remember the link ? Thanks.

Prince de Asturias turns 39 years

Prince de Asturias, Heir of Spanish Corona, turns 39 years today, in a day that will dedicate to the work of habitual office, without it is predicted no special celebration, informed a spokesman into the House of the King.
The members of the Spanish Royal Family are used to spending these anniversaries in private familiar, although three years ago, in 2004, the Prince was in this day with his then fiance'e, Doña Letizia, in the sanctuary of Our Mrs. of Covadonga, in Asturias.
Don Felipe, that will be father for the second time the next spring, attended the supper yesterday that offered the Kings in honor of the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, and the next Thursday will travel to Santander to inaugurate the day “Learning to export”, organized by the Spanish Institute of Foreign trade.
The activity of Princess de Asturias - as already it happened in the pregnancy of his first-born, Infant Leonor, that was born the 31 of October of 2005 - has been seen remarkably reduced by the normal annoyances of its state and it will not accompany to Don Felipe in his visit the Cantabrian capital.

The Prince supports today in Santander the exporting companies cántabras

The Prince don Felipe comes today to the capital cántabra with the will to help to stimulate the internationalization of the companies of the region. The Institute of Exterior Trade (ICEX) has organized for today a day in Santander, ' Learning to export ', that claims that the companies cántabras realize the potential that they have in the exterior and dare to give the step of selling abroad, initially of the hand of official organisms and commit an outrage the example of organizations that have triumphed thanks to their bet for the internationalization.
...

Inside this aim, one has organized the day ' Learning to export ' in Santander, that in order that it has the major possible relief the Royal House has offered the total support materialized in the presence of the Prince of Asturias in the capital cántabra. Don Felipe will take part in two different acts, both related to the day of the ICEX. The first one will develop in the Real Hotel, where he will support a meeting with twenty companies cántabras more internationalized.
Later, the Prince will take part in the closing of the day ' Learning to export ' in the Palace of Exhibitions.

El Príncipe, feliz

The heir to the Throne has changed, since the wedding to Doña Letizia: he is no longer a lonely man

If the Prince was asked about his mood, he would certainly answer that he is a happy man. At the age of 39 years old, Don Felipe - married, with a daughter and on the verge of being father for the second time - does not seem to have any personal conflicts, fact certainly contributes for not exteriorizing them either. The heir to the Throne, who’s in his 40’s since yesterday, crosses the maturity period of his life, after fulfilling his main wish in the personal scope: to share his life with a person, who accompanies him in a way full of high goals.

Don Felipe always understood that he is the link of a chain, as his grandfather the Count of Barcelona constantly told him. Little choice he has had since his childhood besides giving continuity to the family company; at the begining with a little constancy and, after November 22th 1975 (Don Juan Carlos’ enthronement), with the assurance that his destiny was already determined. No stages of revolt or, at least, of questioning his dynastic future are known. Since ever, and due to his familiar surroundings (both the Borbón and the Greece branch), he has lived with his reality, assuming it as a derivative duty from the natural fact of being the heir of his father.

With an easy (if we focous on the material aspects) and difficult (if we considered that the only good thing the Prince does not have is freedom) life, Don Felipe breathes happiness mainly because he has been able to combine his personal wishes with his public life. The Prince has longed to marry and, before marrying Doña Letizia, his sentimental life was scrutinized with so much eagerness and little knowledge that, during some years, Don Felipe locked himself in his soliloquies, convinced that only he could listen and understand himself.

With a dangerous bet, which still nowadays wakes up distrusts among some sectors, Don Felipe decided to marry the journalist Letizia Ortiz, a woman who did not exactly respond to the stereotype and that also risked her own, by changing a life of freedom by another one where she is the aim of all the glances, all the flatteries and also of some invectives. The truth is that, since Don Felipe married Doña Letizia, almost three years ago, the Prince is another person; a better one, he is the man he always had wanted to be. The declarations of his love and gratefulness to Doña Letizia move his witnesses and confirm the mood of whom was on the verge of following by the track and suddenly decided to change; perhaps the only one he was allowed in his lifetime. The Prince did not want to remain alone and he saw in Doña Letizia the opportunity to share a life. For the moment, it seems that he has chosen right.

Prince of Asturias encourages the pymes to confront exterior adventure

The Prince of Asturias encouraged today to the small and medium companies (pymes), of 'cardinal' importance as revitalizing elements of the economic activity and ' persons in charge of the creation of employment and wealth ', to internationalize the activity, to confronting the exterior adventure.

Don Felipe represented this evening, in the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Santander, to the closing of the day ' Learning to export ', an initiative of the ICEX (Institute of Exterior Trade) that chases precisely this intention.

EL PRÍNCIPE FELIPE REFUERZA SU PAPEL COMO EMBAJADOR ECONÓMICO DE ESPAÑA__

PRINCE FELIPE REINFORCES HIS ROLE, AS AN ECONOMIC AMBASSADOR OF SPAIN

It seems it was yesterday, but the heir to the Spanish Throne, Prince Felipe de Borbón, has already been attending all the investitures of Latin American presidents for more than 10 years. They all pass, while he stays. His political and economic contacts increase. Capital has followed him close by and publishes, in its February issue (which is going to be published next Monday 5th), a twelve-page-dossier, after its director accompanied Prince Felipe in one of his trips.

"Companies reflect a dynamic and innovative Spain", declares Felipe de Borbón, who confesses to Capital magazine: "If I took note of everything I see, a book could written, to compete with García Márquez". Surely the Prince's struggles for the defence of the Spanish economic interests are hardly well-known, but it doesn’t mean they are less real. More: he likes it and he is convinced that he must "help" his People. Surely he does it with certain perks, because, in spite of his youth (39 years old), he has a great advantage; by attending all the investitures of Latin American presidents, for 10 years, he has been seeing some politicians going away, while he remains.

The social image of Prince Felipe may be associated, in some environments, to glamour, but the truth is that, among the innumerable activities the Spanish heir develops, the majority of them are directly related to the economic world.

In this exclusive dossier of Capital magazine, several personalities pronounce themselves on his role: Trinidad Jiménez, Felipe Calderón, Josep Antoni Durán Lleida, Javier Gómez Navarro, Pedro Mejía, Francisco Luzón, Vicente A. Areces, Carlos Solchaga or César Antonio Molina.

Thank you Elsa, is interesting to see that an economic magazine decides to give a space to the work of the Prince, as economic ambassador of Spain. Unfortunately, often his work, it remains got dark by news and frivolous gossips of the undignified press, which does that his work is little an acquaintance. It is interesting, and provokes certain hope, to see that in some occasion there is press that treats his work responsibly.;)

Totally right, and we can see it's not a new activity. Is this magazine international ones?

Yes, as a non-Spaniard, I always feel a bit sorry that his meritful job is somehow obscured by the savage yellow press, so I particularly feel happy when I see his job being treated with the repectability he deserves.:)
