T.R.H. THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS TO CHAIR OPENING CEREMONY OF XII EUROVISION ASSEMBLY.

T.R.H. the Prince and Princess of Asturias to chair the inauguration ceremony of the XII Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision, which will be held on the 19th, 20th and 21st April in Oviedo, coinciding with UNESCO-backed events to celebrate the XXV Anniversary of the Prince of Asturias Awards. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, 19th April, in the Chapel of the Hotel de la Reconquista.

On the final day of its XI Assembly in April 2005, the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision, agreed to hold the following annual meeting -the one to be held this week- in Asturias, in recognition of the cultural work carried out by the Prince of Asturias Foundation over the last twenty-five years.

Spain is hosting the assembly for the first time, and Eurovision thereby ratifies its support for the Prince of Asturias Awards, which were acknowledged in 2004 by the seventy-plus European public television services in the organisation as being "a highly newsworthy event". European television's choice of Asturias is a major boost for the international reputation of the Awards. Previous venues have included Oslo, Amsterdam and Budapest.

This assembly and the upcoming Ibero-American Television Organisation's assembly scheduled for 2007 in Oviedo will mean that leaders of over 150 television networks from over 100 countries will have met in Oviedo in a single year in acknowledgement of the outstanding role that the Prince of Asturias Awards have played in disseminating mankind's supreme cultural values.

Eurovision, which celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2004, is made up of public televisions in the European Broadcasting Union (UBI), which has 72 members in 52 countries across Europe, North Africa and the Near East, and 49 associate members in another 28 countries. Besides Spanish National Television, the BBC, Italy's RAI, the German ZDF and ARD networks and Russian Television's Channel 1 all figure amongst its membership.

Princes will visit in Pamplona exhibition the Age of a Reyno The Princes de Asturias and of Viana, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, travel the next Thursday to Pamplona to visit the exhibition ' the Age of a Reynó that exhibits in the Audience and Palace of Congresos-Baluarte, today informed the Government into Navarre in an official notice. The stay of the Princes in the Navarrese capital exclusively will be dedicated to this exhibition, centered in the millenarian of King Sancho Greater of Pamplona and the Romanesque Art of its time, with near 270 artistic pieces of great value. The last time that Don Felipe and Doña Letizia were in the leasehold community was the past month of June, to give to the Prize Prince of Viana of the Culture that, to its last edition, fell to the engineer Javier Manterola.

Princes of Asturias will travel to Burgos on April 27

The Princes of Asturias will travel to Burgos on April 27 to inaugurate the new building of the group of communication ' Promoter of Means of Castile and León ' (PROMECAL).

When you are making a flash back on the Princes's activities since the three last months, you can remark that they that they didn't stop to come and go from north and south, east and west of all th Spain, that they can have a true marathon day when they are very far away from Madrid, but they keep a very smiling attitud and obviously they are very happy to work together.

This last point of view is so simpathtic for them; doing like that, they are giving a true synergic symbol of their role. I think it's a very good way to reinforce them in their renown. We can watch how at each official act they are going to the people around, broking the protocol to shake hands ( How many hands they are shaking in a week ? good question because it'll be very tireing if you think about that !!!)

I didn't speak about their trip outside Spain.

Don Felipe and dona Letizia will preside at the presentation of the new building and will celebrate the cumpleños of ' Diary of Burgos ' The Princes of Asturias will visit this Thursday Burgos to inaugurate the central headquarters of the Group Promecal and to visit its facilities, as well as to congratulate to all the workers on the occasion of 115 anniversary of Diary of Burgos, which was fulfilled the last first of April and it does of this newspaper the twelfth most ancient of the whole Spain.
Don Felipe and dona Letizia will come to the capital burgalesa at proceeding 11:00 a.m. from Madrid. Both have showed always their desire to know the work realized from the mass media and in two years that have passed from their wedding they have visited both national newspapers: El Mundoand La Vanguardia, regional: Las Provincias of Valencia and sports, since it is the case of El Mundo Deportivo.
With the visit to Promecal's headquarters they will estimate first hand the work developed by one of the first groups of local press of Spain, which possesses 15 head-boards in three autonomous different communities.
Besides, to Promecal 4 belong Channel Castile and León, Channel 6 Navarre, and The Platform Television. The implied and awkward Princess

Dona Letizia was not foreign yesterday to the complicity that she was feeling in the room. Between the public, numerous professionals of the television, way that knows well. Between the journalists summoned to cover the act, ex-companions of today Princess of Asturias to that His Highness dedicated more than one wink. There was like that because yesterday it was celebrated in the Hotel of the Reconquest, the opening of the Assembly of the European Union of Broadcast television, to which she belonged like presentadora of TVE during good part of her professional career. Career that finished for joining her destiny to that of don Felipe, but that before Prince of Asturias had led her, in more than one occasion, to fixing her attention as journalist in the ceremony of the Prizes.

Because of it yesterday when there was projected on the screens a summary of images of the solemn ceremony of delivery, dona Letizia felt emotion and, even, she directed a look her ex-companion Maria Oña, presentadora of TVE, with which so often she shared difficulties of work. Yesterday she was Maria Oña whom there was covering the information and dona Letizia who to another side of the barrier was leading the news. Once again.
During this time, that of the projection, the commentaries were constant between the Princes. When Woody Allen appeared on screen or when Yaser Arafat and Simon Peres gathered the prize.

For her return to Oviedo, after a year of absence in official acts due to her pregnancy, the Princess chose the joint one blue swimming pool of waisted jacket and skirt stamped with cachemires. Since it is habitual in her style, she combined purse and shoes, of high heel and lightly opened by the toe.
Besides it illuminated in the lapel of the jacket the emblem of the Foundation and a chain with the cross of the Victory to the neck. Elegant, smiling and very attentive both to the speeches and to the images of the video, also she observed as the Prince was aiming with his pen on his papers at a few unexpected words.

Asturias remained without Leonor

Don Felipe and dona Letizia took advantage of their stay in Oviedo to meet, in a lunch, the grandmother of the princess and other relatives

A rapid visit semi private road in that scarcely they were left to see. The Princes of Asturias came to the airport of past Ranón the twelve of the midday and went away only ten hours later. The fleetingness of the stay of their parents did that the Infanta Leonor was waiting for them in Madrid. The Asturians will have to wait to know the small one.

In spite of the fact that it was hoping that to the midday they were going to the locality riosellana of Sardéu to eat in house of the grandmother, finally they chose to do it in the capital. Menchu Álvarez del Valle was departing course to Oviedo little before one o'clock at midday to meet her granddaughter.

Princes' solidarity

Felipe and Letizia visit in the Central Hospital the children hurt in the accident of Lena's bus. The couple transmits a message of spirit to relatives and scouts in the Mother Infantile Center.

Affectionate, very nearby, and offering repeated samples of fondness, the Princes of Asturias transmitted yesterday personally their message of " spirit and solidarity " to the children and to the relatives of the group of boy scouts that had an accident of motor-coach, last Sunday, in Lena, during the visit that they realized to the Mother Infantile Center of the Central Hospital of Asturias, where they evolve favorably of the wounds registered in the desaster, in which they lost the life two minors and two monitors.

The Princess reads the story of the consolation

The Princes of Asturias wanted to transmit yesterday personally their fondness and their solidarity to the children that they turned out to be wounded last Sunday in the accident of the bus in that they were returning to Gijon after taking part in a living together of boys scouts in León as well as to their relatives. Don Felipe and dona Letizia visited three of small deposited, which present a slighter forecast, being careful to avoid inconveniences those that still they find in serious condition in the paediatric uci of the Central Hospital of Oviedo. Aitor the 4-year-old, smallest 29 injured people in Senriella's tragedy, was encouraging yesterday in the room 442 of the Mother Infantile Hospital of Oviedo to the Princess Letizia to whom she was stopping reading the story that had begun. So, before the attentive look of the parents of the child and of the full procession who was accompanying the Princess of Asturias, Letizia Ortiz, mother newly released, continued reading during a quarter of hour more the infantile book. But, not to make to wait any more for other hospitalized children, ten in whole, she could not conclude the history. And she felt it. Another child asked them, her and don Felipe de Borbón, with natural infantile curiosity and probably confusing them with Princes Magicians, if, besides their presence, they had brought some gift.

They were only two anecdotes of the visit that the Princes of Asturias, don Felipe and dona Letizia, fulfilled at the last hour of yesterday morning, past the one, to three of the small ones hospitalized in the University Central Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) for the injuries that the accident of bus provoked them happened on Sunday: Sara Cavero Gutiérrez and 9-year-old Joel Rodríguez Estévez, and the small Aitor, which, without knowing it, turned, for his spontaneity, into the protagonist of the day. The Princess ovetense could know, of mouth of the professionals who attend to them, that ten children who still remain in this hospital evolve favorably. (...)
