The King encourages to an operative and effective struggle against the terrorism

The King said that the priority of the EuroMediterranean Region is a just and lasting peace, for what there is necessary ' the cooperation reinforced against the new threats to the safety of our peoples ' and ' the operative and effective struggle against the terrorism '.
With these words Don Juan Carlos declared inaugurated the plenary session of the Chiefs' EuroMediterranean Summit of State and of Government, which yesterday began yheir works, and that precisely found the first obstacles in the question of the terrorism, before the demand of the Arabic countries of contemplating the figure of ' resistance to the foreign occupation '.
The King intervened before the representatives of 25 countries of the European Union and of Algeria, Morocco, Tunis, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, The Lebanon, Turkey, Israel and Palestine, to which he remembered that there is necessary ' a management been ordained as the migratory flows that turns out to be beneficial for all.

Queen presides over annual finery of the Institute Queen Sofia in New York

Queen Sofia tonight presides over the annual finery in which the gold medals of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute of New York will be given, that this year have been granted to Julio Churches, Henry Kissinguer and Beatrice Santo Domingo. The award awards to personalities that cause with their work the knowledge of the Hispanic culture in the U.S.A., and in previous editions they have received it Santiago Calatrava, Placid Domingo, Jesus Polanco, Valentin Fuster and Javier Perez de Cuéllar, among others.
The prizes are given in a gala dinner that takes place in a hotel of New York, and that supposes the main act of the annual calendar of activities of the institution.
Presided over on the present time by Oscar de la Renta, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute was founded on 1954 with the objective to impel the diffusion of the Hispanic culture in this country. Among other activities, the institution develops programs of of Spanish education, and summons round conferences, tables, publishing presentations and artistic exhibitions. The Queen Sofia Spanish Institute finances with donations and bottoms of public and deprived institutions.

His Majesty the King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos I, has accepted the presidency of the committee of honor of the Fifth Centenary of Francisco de Javier's birth, which will be commemorated by means of a program of acts, named generically ' Javier 2006. Meeting of Universal culture ' that will develop around Javier's castle, between next December 2 and December 3, 2006. S.M.'s House the King has reported to the prime minister of Navarre that Don Juan Carlos has acceded to the formulated request.

Queen presides at delivery prizes Queen Sofía Institute in New York

The Queen Sofia presided this night at the dinner of show in which they submitted of the golden medals of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute of New York, which this year Julio Iglesias, Henry Kissinguer and Beatriz Santo Domingo received.
' It seems that it was yesterday when I received the medal of special gold with which the fiftieth anniversary of the Institute was celebrated ', said the Queen in a speech in which she remembered that from ride at the time her name the entity, which before was called Spanish Institute.

After underlining the merits of rewarded of this year, the Queen of Spain emphasized the labor that realizes the institution ' to stimulate the political and cultural bows between The United States and Spain, and a better knowledge of the Latin-American culture in this country '.
Besides the awardwinners, at the dinner, which was celebrated in a luxurious hotel of the Fifth Avenue, there were present approximately 550 persons, who in the great majority paid donations of between 1.000 and 50.000 dollars for cutlery.

Between the North American assistants there were the mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, the singer Liza Minelli and the politics Hillary Clinton, who in a few brief words appeared that ' it is not exaggerated when one speaks about the importance of the Hispanic culture in our country '.
' The relation of The United States with Spain and Latin America must be taken care, and in this sense the task that realizes this institute does more tolerant to our country ', added the wife of the American ex-president Bill Clinton.
For his part, Kissinguer expressed his admiration for the Queen Sophia and emphasized ' the crucial role that nowadays interprets Spain thanks to her historical past '.
The singer Julio Iglesias was grateful for the grant of the recognition, and also he underlined the work of the Institute, ' to cross the borders ' between Spain and the USA.

The tailors Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, the former Colombian president, Andrés Pastrana, and the Spanish ex-minister of Exteriors and current ambassador in Washington, Carlos Westendorp, appeared between the Spanish and Latin-American present personalities forthwith.
Likewise there represented the president of the Valencian community, Francisco Camps - of visit in the city-, and the bullfighters Enrique Ponce and Michael Baez 'Litri', with his respective wives, as well as the model Estefanía Luik.
The award rewards every year to personalities that propitiate with their work the knowledge of the Hispanic culture in the USA.
In previous editions it there received Santiago Calatrava, Plácido Domingo, Carolina Herrera, Jesus Polanco, Valentín Fuster, Javier Perez de Cuellar, Montserrat Caballé, Pasqual Maragall, Jose Carreras, Severo Ochoa, Andrés Segovia and Henry Ford II, between others.

The dinner of show in which the prizes are delivered supposes the principal act of the annual calendar of activities of the institution.
Between other activities, The Queen Sofia Spanish Institute develops programs of education of Spanish, and summons from time to time conferences, round tables, publishing presentations and artistic exhibitions.
Presided at present by Inmaculate Conception of Hapsburg, the entity possesses the presidency of Oscar de la Renta's honor and it was founded in 1954 by Spanish Institute's name, with the aim to stimulate the diffusion of the Hispanic culture in this country.
The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute is financed by donations and funds of public and private institutions.

Queen Sofia last night presided over a gala dinner in which she presented the gold medals awarded by the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute in New York.
Among those honoured this year were Julio Iglesias and Henry Kissinger.
Among those present at the ceremony were Hillary Clinton, mayor Michael Bloomburg and Liza Minelli.

Her Majesty the Queen has presided at the " Gallic Gold Medal " of the " Queen Sofía Spanish Institute ", celebrated in the Hotel Pierre of New York, in which the Golden medals of the Institution have submitted. In this edition there have been rewarded the doctor Henry Kissinger, Julio Iglesias and Beatriz Santodomingo. The " Queen Sofía Spanish Institute " was created in 1954 to promote the Spanish culture in The United States, across conferences, exhibitions, symposiums, meetings and education of Spanish. The Medals of Gold recognize from 1978 the work in favor of the tightening of the relations between The United States and Spain. In the image, Dona Sofía poses together with the winning ones, in company of the Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and the President of the Institute, Óscar the la Renta. Indeed she does, I couldn't agree more here. And she looks very warm, happy and vibrant too, like life is doing her justice and mostly good.

well, we will still have to wait and see if Letizia takes after her mother-in-law in this area.
 
Wow, I was speechless when I first saw the pictures of the Queen, she looks beautiful! Her dress was amazing. By the way, did anyone else notice that Hillary Cliton wore the same dress that she wore when the King and Queen were President Clinton's guest at the White House?
