The groom was Archduke Georg of Austria-Tuscany (1905-1952), the second son of Archduke Peter Ferdinand, titular Grand Duke of Tuscany, and of his wife, née Princess Maria Cristina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
The bride was Countess Marie Valerie von Waldburg zu Zeil und Hohenems (1913-2011), eldest child of Count Georg von Waldburg zu Zeil und Hohenems and of his wife, née Archduchess Elisabeth Franziska of Austria-Tuscany (herself the daughter of Archduke Franz Salvator of Austria Tuscany and of Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria, the youngest daughter of Emperor Franz Joseph).
They were married in St. Gilgen, near Salzburg, Austria, on 29 April 1936.
