Princess Helena was the daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Great Britain.
Prince Christian was the son of Duke Christian August and Duchess Louise Sophie of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg.
Princess Helena married Prince Christian in the Private Chapel of Windsor Castle on July 5, 1866.
Christian had two supporters: Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar and Prince Frederic of Schleswig-Holstein. Princess Helena was given away by Queen Victoria.

Helena was escorted by both her mother, and her brother Edward.

She had eight bridesmaids who carried her train as well. They were the unmarried daughters of Dukes, Marquess and Earls.

-Lady Laura Phipps- daughter of the Marquess of Normanby
-Lady Caroline Gordon Lennox-daughter of the Duke of Richmond
-Lady Margaret Scott-daughter of Duke of Buccleuch
-Lady Mary Fitzwilliam-daughter of the Earl Fitzwilliam
-Lady Muriel Campbell
-Lady Albertha Hamilton- daughter of the Duke of Abercom
-Lady Alexandrina Murray-daughter of the Earl of Dunmore
-Lady Ernestine Edgecumbe- daughter of the 3rd Earl of Mount Edgecumbe

Helena and Christian had an incredibly happy and long marriage. However, if you look at photographs taken of the newly engaged and then married pair Christian looks like Lenchen's grandfather! He was older than her but not by that much!
