It's difficult to say. But let's not forget that she got married in 1981, when flowers where more fashionable than bridal tiaras. (Another Princess who married with flowers in her hair in 1984 was Princess Astrid of Belgium, e.g.) So it might have been her very own choice to forego a tiara.

I'm delighted to see the floral tiara with the bridal ensemble. The new Princess of Hannover looked lovely, imo. And I always thought that floral tiaras make perfect bridal tiaras. Once again I was surprised at how big this tiara is, it's really substantial. Unfortunately there seems to be no information about the origins of this tiara, as Princess Chantal was the first Lady to be seen wearing it.

Diamond and ruby tiara worn by Princess Donata von Isenburg and a spider brooch worn by Princess Maria zu Stolberg-Wernigerode.

The caption is wrong. Fürst Marie is the older lady with the ruby tiara and Princess Donata the younger.

Thank you! :-)

Any info on these jewels?

Have we seen them before?

Could it be this tiara worn by Princess Anna zu Stolberg-Wernigerode?

Just replaced pearls with rubies.

Here is a comparison pic of Countess Beatrix, Princess Louise (at the big Prussian wedding) and Countess Sophie. The wedding picture of Countess Beatrix is not very clear, the tiara obscured before the veil, but I still think that it is a floral tiara, and the outline and size of the jewel also match, imo.

I have found pictures of the wedding from Princess Sophie von Schönburg-Waldenburg and Prince Wilhelm zu Wied, later Prince of Albania and to me it seems Sophie wore this Schönburg tiara.

Here is the wedding picture:

Group wedding picture with many German tiaras:

And a close up of Sophie:

What do you think? Could it be the same tiara or some other?

The Bavarian Ruby and Spinel Parure | The Court Jeweller

The Parure is stunning but I find the tiara too much.

Interesting tiara worn by Princess von Thurn und Taxis:

It looks like Princess Theresia von Thurn und Taxis (1861-1947).

So I'm not the only one surprised at how much bigger it looks today compared to when Sophie wore it.

Me too, really. Never perceived it as that big tiara.

I think it is a combination of the tiara not being worn high enough on the head and a bad hairstyling which seems to fall apart (looking at a picture from the side...).

This is a perfect example how important the right hair style is when wearing a tiara

That picture is from the wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist. You can really see the small tiara very well.

I find it a bit misleading to call the tiara the 'Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg fringe tiara', because there is another tiara that deserves this name even more: the fringe frequently worn by Princess Benedikte.

Yes, this one. It is said to have been a wedding gift from the 4th prince to his wife for their wedding in 1905.
