Goga Ashkenazi is best friends with Prince Andrew and mistress of a £28m mansion - she hasn't done badly for a 'peasant girl' from Kazakhstan | Mail Online (07/03/2010).

I totally agree with Warren!

It appears that Ms. Ashkenazi is a modern version of Thackeray's Becky Sharp. She should be duly lauded for succeeding in her plans.

I couldn´t be more in agreement Al bina, only the person you were referring to Thackeray´s Becky Sharp, perhaps a Freudian slip.

Thanks for correcting me!
It is a Freudian slip, indeed. I was listening to Baroness Thatcher's speech on Youtube.

I can´t see how your ancestors near or far make you interesting.
I agree with you, all these things 'happened' to George V, the times in which he lived were very interesting, but from the biographies I've read, I don't think his personality was very exciting.
Though I have a soft spot for Queen Mary.

Ice, PA is wearing a red dot on his forehead, I'm sure out of respect for the culture. What does this red dot mean? (Because obviously we all know it certainly doesn't mean K-Mart is having a red dot special sale or if you scratch it you win a prize. . . . Russo has been in a kicky punchy phase for the last couple of days. . . .)

I think that's why George V, George VI and the present Queen have been so loved by people: they're "ordinary" even though they live in exalted surroundings. They haven't been particularly academic or high-cultured or glamourous. They've been people whom a person can identify with in some way.

What's the weather like in India? Is it opposite of what we have here which is rainy and cold and nasty? HRH looks like he got caught in the glare of the projector in pic 2. Thanks Ice!

It's very hot in India these days, February till June are the hot
months in India These days Andrew is in China:

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York toasts champagne with president of
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Fu Chengyu (C), and
BG Group chief executive Frank Chapman (R) after a signing ceremony
in Beijing on March 24, 2010.
British energy company BG Group signed the multi-billion USD deal to
supply liquefied natural gas from Australia to China's state-run CNOOC,
as the Asian giant works to secure access to needed natural resources.

Does he actually drink it? Being a teetoller? They might slip in a little sparkling cider instead. With all of his travels, though, I can see why one wouldn't want to drink, when you get as old as Russo you don't bounce back as fast after a couple . . .

I think he doesn't refuse any delicious dinner he's offered, but
as a kind of travelling salesman he has to keep a clear head

I always do when it comes to picture like this.
Then again, I always wonder what royals say.

Andrew seems to be travelling a lot these day - now from
China to the United Arab Emirates:

Prince Andrew attended the 15th 'Dubai World Cup', the world's
richest horserace, at the Meydan racetrack, in Dubai, United
Arab Emirates on March 27, 2010. On pic 2 he's pictured with
Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Beautiful horses and nice pictures of HRH. Does HM have any horses racing? I know she stables a few and knows horse and corgi blood lines like the back of her hand. Don't supposed PA shares that trait with his mother. . .
