34 new Swiss Guards have taken their Oaths at a Ceremony on May 6th
The Ceremony took place on May 6th which marks the date of the 1527 Sack of Rome.
The Swiss Guards at the Vatican were established in 1506 under Julius II.

Pope Pius IX (I13 May 1792 – 7 February 1878) was head of the Catholic Church from 1846 to 1878. His reign of nearly 32 years is the longest verified of any pope in history. He was notable for convoking the First Vatican Council in 1868 and for permanently losing control of the Papal States in 1870 to the Kingdom of Italy. Thereafter, he refused to leave Vatican City, declaring himself a "prisoner in the Vatican".

Pope Linus (died c. AD 80) was the bishop of Rome from c. AD 68 to his death. He is generally regarded as the second Bishop of Rome, after St. Peter. As with all the early popes, he was canonized.
According to Irenaeus, Linus is the same person as the one mentioned in the New Testament.
