No York sisters? I guess they’ve been frozen out. Sad. They shouldn’t be held accountable for their parents.

I believe they’ve chosen to stay out of the spotlight with the wider family for the next few months. So I don’t expect them at Sandringham this year either, or at least not walking to church with the other royals.

The DM has a story that they were both invited but had prior commitments. Whether that is true or not who knows but if they were invited it suggests no rift to me, I mean the Palace have been at pains to point out Charles (and in some reports William) didn't want to agree to anything that would affect Beatrice & Eugenie so them attending would have be the perfect way to underline that.

Agreed. Eugene taking the time to address this says plenty to me as is. She could have said nothing- and the rumor mill (regardless of DM sources) would really be churning. And the invite does reinforce other sources about Charles (and William’s) wishes. So, if there’s a rift of sorts, it sure seems everyone is trying to pretend otherwise.

I mean- this is a busy time of year. Lots of extended family didn’t come. It was lovely to see the ones who did.

Or maybe- as has been suggested- the girls want to keep a lower profile right now. I hope they don’t feel that way though. If they’re wanted at family events (as seems to be the case), they should be able attend if it works out for them to do so- and not worry about the public’s reaction.

Yes, that’s how I understand it too. I don’t get the impression of any rift as both families seem keen to stress the invite was there and the regret to be unable to share such a special family occasion.

The Mail story for anyone else who is interested:

"It was previously reported that Catherine had personally reached out to her cousins-in-law, asking for them to attend the star-studded event alongside 1,600 other guests. The invitation was understood to be a bid to help keep the Royal Family united and connected this Christmas amid the latest scandal surrounding their father Andrew. While Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, were touched to have been asked, both had previous commitments and were unable to join other family members at the service."

No York and everybody wondering, but Sophie has been coming alone everytime (despite the supposed good relationship between the Waleses and the Edinburghs) and no one questioning it?

Anyway, I have a feeling that of all three Wales children, Louis will end up the tallest. He's three years yonger than Charlotte but almost caught up to his sister and he's only seven. My youngest brother is also the tallest which is quite ironic/karmic considering my brother and I used to call him 'runt' when we're kids (it stopped when he's in high school when he reached my height and now I'm the shortest despite being the eldest).

Eugenie missed last year's service and no one really said anything. Given her family split their time between the UK and Portugal and one assumes they focus their UK visits in Dec around Christmas time it makes sense if they don't travel over in early Dec much.
Anne hasn't attend often at all and again, no one questions the close bonds there - as seen in many public ways including the podcast appearance the Wales and Anne did. December is a busy month, and tbh I wouldn't be surprised if the Princesses are prioritising family time in private over a very public event right now.

Hardly anyone goes. Zara, Peter, Beatrice and Eugenie have gone. Amd the year they brought Savannah, Isla and Wolfie was wonderful. Zara pretty much goes every year. And you usually do have at least one york.

Hardly anyone goes.
Not a description I would use for an event that this year, apart from the hosts family which happens to include the heir to the throne, the Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke & Duchess of Gloucester & their family, Prince Michael of Kent , Zara & Mike Tindall, Lord Frederick Windsor & his family.
Other years have seen a different mix, but the event has always been well supported by the Royal Family and the Middletons of course.

I think with the Wessex/Edinburgh children it has to do that they are still at school/unversity even more so as it during the week.

Exam time in Scottish Universities, we also need to remember this is not a state event, that there must be a full turn out. It is an event to thank the guests.

I honestly don't care why they didn't go. I'm just amused on how some are focusing on the Yorks then made theory of snubbing etc, yet none take a notice that Edward wasn't there either (has never attended in fact while even Michael of Kent was there in wheelchair) and no theory of snubbing or that he's bed bound or something.

Philippa and James Matthews were not at the Christmas Carol Service.
