Tiara or no tiara for Mary in France in 2 weeks? What is the precedent for previous Danish state visits to France

Based on recent state visits to France, no tiara for Mary. She may, instead, choose to wear a brooch in her hair.

I'm sure Mary will still dazzle with or without a tiara, she seems to have a very creative streak with jewellery!

No tiara as very likely the dresscode will be either day dress for the ladies and suits for the men or long dresses and suits. Perhpas she can use some the Hairclips from the ruby parure and the brooch of it.

The ruby parure with its French origin is a good bet. Let's hope that we will see the hair clips with some of the other parts, like the earrings and bracelet. But unfortunately not the tiara, as France just doesn't do tiara dress codes anymore.

For the Dutch state visit to Kenya, I don't guess Maxima wearing a tiara

Mary will unfortunately not wear a tiara in France as the dress code set by the french presidents (after Giscard d’esting) unfortunately does not allow for that…

The only royal that has ever broken that was Queen Elizabeth II and i fully expect that to remain…

It would be lovely to see parts of the Ruby Parure be used due to its french origins, like Queen Silvia used parts of the Cameo Parure during the swedish state visit to President Hollande.

For the representation dinner in Stockholm next week i guess we’ll see

Queen Silvia : Nine Prong Tiara

Crown Princess Victoria : Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara

Princess Sofia (if she attends) : Wedding Tiara with pearls

Princess Madeleine : Connaught Diamond Tiara

Queen Camilla did not,, but I think Maxima will wear a tiara in Kenya.

If Maxima wears a tiara in Nairobi tonight, I think it will be one of the emerald, aquamarine or antique Pearl tiaras.

For the SV from Singapore to Belgium this month, I predict Queen Mathilde will wear the Wolfers tiara.

I don't know the precedent for previous Danish state visits, but neither Queen Silvia nor Queen Camilla has worn a tiara in recent state visits to France, and they are not exactly "tiara shy".

I think the" blame" is actually on the French, who have downgraded the dress code for those types of event. In the past, they had white-tie state dinners in France.

Unless the host specifically has a white-tie dress code, it might be a faux-pas in my opinion to wear a tiara in Nairobi, as it may evoke memories of the colonial era (even though Kenya was not a Dutch colony).

It is the sapphire necklace tiara for Maxima in Kenia

I guess the Queen doesn't share my concerns then. Well, the sapphire necklace is a nice tiara among the smaller ones in the Dutch vault. I am glad she made that choice.

But tiaras can also be worn for Black tie State Dinners as often seen in Germany and on Queen Elizabeth II. even in France. But for some reason Camilla choose not to wear one in France for a Black tie State Dinner.

Whilst I am not expecting it, it would be great to see Queen Camilla wear a tiara in Italy next month.

Good to see I was completely wrong, yet again!

Miterrand, Chirac, Sarkozy, Hollande and Macron seemed to all have had an inbred dislike towards white tie state dinners…

Even black tie seems to only be offered to a few selected heads of state nowdays…

The swedish state visit to Hollande was even a ”business dinner”… It’s sad really when France has so many beautiful historical venues to choose from

I hope Mary brings some of her Ruby hair pieces with her at least instead of a tiara if that's the code for the French dinner.

Mathilde - singapore state visit I image will wear one of her smaller tiaras maybe the laurel wreath tiara for a change. But probably more likely the Wolfers necklace tiara

My guess is that we will see the Wolfers tiara for the State Gala.

Or the base of the Empire tiara
I presume you mean the base of the Nine Provinces tiara. The Empire tiara lives next door in Luxembourg!

I wonder if that is a trial run for Ingrid to take a more prominent public role while her mother unfortunately is forced to step back.

I agree she will wear the Pearl Circle as that is her personal tiara and will probably be her go-to tiara for a while.

I agree.
She will most likely wear her birthday jewellery.
Tiara, earrings, maybe diamond necklace and bracelet from Princess Ragnhild and diamond ring from Queen Sonja. But it would be great if she wore something surprise, like Queen Maud's pearl choker, last worn in 1991 (Princess Martha Louise) or the almost forgotten diamond and ruby choker from Queen Maud.
