Tiaras and Jewels guessing for upcoming events: 2025

Do we have a date for the UK Diplomatic Reception yet? There have been instances it has been pulled forward to November to allow for a state visit in December.
Last year it was held in November but prior to that it was in help in early December 2023/2022.

It is usually not known long before. Wonder if it will also be held at Windsor or if they maybe use St. James for it so that not all the diplomats have to make they way to Windsor

Isn’t there usually around 1000 guests at the diplomatic receptions ?

I don’t think St James’ Palace can host that many.. Banqueting House can host 800 guests for receptions if both the main hall and the undercroft is used but i think that’s the closest… My bet would be Windsor Castle if Buckingham Palace is deemed unavailable..

I concur, I think it will have to be Windsor for the Dip this year.

I am sure the diplomats would love the idea of being entertained at Windsor.

For the SV from Oman to Spain in November, I predict Letzia will wear the Mellerio Floral tiara.

Will she wear even a tiara?
Incoming state visits to Spain are, by default, tiara events. Queen Letizia did not wear a tiara at the state banquet for the Emir of Qatar, but I don't think we can extrapolate that to the Oman state visit.

A TRF member mentioned at the time that Queen Sofia in the past did not wear a tiara either on a state visit from Qatar, so I don't know what is different about Qatar specifically. I am sure other more knowledgeable posters might be able to explain,

Thanks, it was the Qatar visit I remembered that she didn’t wear one

It seems to be taking forever to renovate Buckingham Palace! (Wonder if the King instructed them not to hurry?)

It had been said it would take 10 years when it was announced. And they are not over yet. Think it will be completed in 2027

It seems simply the Spanish choose not to wear a tiara, as the Sheikha will not be.

Its certainly not a rule/custom. The British royals brought out tiaras for the Qatar royals.

That won't be an issue in the Oman state visit as the Sultan, as far as I understand, will attend the state banquet alone (i.e., without a partner).

Not surprising. It seems very rare that Lady Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah accompanies her husband abroad. She was with him when they met QEII at Windsor.

But why? After all they are also wearing tiaras when a President visits. And the wives of Presidents don't have tiaras to wear.

For the German state visit to the UK, I would love to see Queen Camilla give the Oriental Circlet a go. I would also be pleasantly surprised to see her use the Kokoshnik for the Dip, she tends to wear smaller, lighter tiaras for that.

It's less than one month until the highlight of the Swedish Royal Calendar, The Nobel Prizes. Princess Sofia will not attend this year, but let's see if Princess Christina will make a comeback instead.

10th December - Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and Banquet
Queen Silvia
Queen Sofia's Diamond Tiara, aka The Nine Prong Tiara, perhaps with the Pink dress from Dutch and Finnish State Visits. Would love to see the Cameo Tiara, but I guess she saves that for her Golden anniversary next year.

Crown Princess Victoria
The Connaught Diamond Tiara, aka Princess Sibylla's Tiara.

Princess Madeleine
The Aquamarin Kokoshnik Tiara would be lovely to see on the Princess again.

11th December - H.M. The King's Dinner
Queen Silvia
We haven't seen the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure on the Queen this year, so last opportunity.

Crown Princess Victoria
Most likely the Laurel Wreath Tiara.

Princess Madeleine
Wouldn't mind the Modern Fringe Tiara actually.

Swedish State Visit to Canada

For the swedish state visit dinner in Canada (wich is usually black tie) i guess Queen Silvia will be wearing the Connaught Tiara (gifted by the Duke of Connaught who was the 10:th Governor General of Canada).

If the return event is a formal event too (wich is almost never is nowdays so i have no big hopes on that) i guess she will wear the Edward VII Ruby Tiara.

Nobel Festivities

10 December

I would love to see Queen Silvia wear the Cameo Parure and the dress she wore during the spanish state visit 4 years ago.

I would love to see Crown Princess Victoria wear the dress and jewels she wore during the Crown Princely wedding in Jordan. She paired it with the Laurel Wreath Tiara, earringa and brooch from the Emerald Parure, a diamond collet and a diamond brooch… The 6-Button Tiara or the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara would also match that ensemble well.

Like many of you i would also love to see Princess Madeleine wearing the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara again.

As it has already been announced that Princess Sofia will be absent, i would love to see Princess Christina take her place… She can wore any tiara with full success… I liked her white/pink ensemble with the 4-Button Tiara during the Danish State Visit..

Nobels:
I have given up hope that Queen Silvia will bring out the Cameo Parure for Nobel again.
Buit as she hasn't worn the Leuchtenberg sapphires this year perhaps it will be their go to shine on 10.12.

10th December - Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and Banquet
Queen Silvia
Nine Prong or Leuchtenberg Sapphires

Crown Princess Victoria
Baden Fringe, Napoleonic Amethysts or the Six Button

Princess Sofia (if attends)
Her wedding tiara
Princess Madeleine
The Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara, Modern Fringe Tiara or the Edwardian Ruby Tiara

Princess Christina
Six Button or Connaught Tiara

11th December - H.M. The King's Dinner
Queen Silvia
Nine Prong probably

Crown Princess Victoria
Most likely the Laurel Wreath Tiara.

Princess Sofia
Again her wedding tiara

Princess Madeleine
Modern Fringe, Connaught or Aquamarine Kokoshnik

Princess Christina
Most likely Connaught or Six Buttons

It has been suggested on social media that the Girls of Britain & Ireland tiara has been removed from the Edwardians exhibition at BP. This would suggest that the Queen is proposing to wear it for the Diplomatic Reception. That also means that the Dip is probably this week or next.

This was also said for the Kokoshnik when it was removed before the american State Visit and it wasn't worn.

Who knows if this is accurate, but my guess is that the Queen intended to wear the Kokoshnik for the US state visit, pairing it with the Greville 3 string Festoon necklace. However, as she was suffering from a bad bout of sinusitis at the time, she probably chose to use the lightweight sapphire tiara.

If true i don't understand why she had chosen a tiara which was on a exhibition at that time. It is not as there would be no alternatives with the many tiaras there are in available to her.

The Kokoshnik is the largest, glitziest tiara in the BRF. What better choice when hosting a man known to like a bit of bling? The necklace was not a demure understated one either, so I guess the plan was to turn up the wattage.

As regards removing it from the exhibition, that would have only been the case for a day or two.

Still not nice for people who visit the exhibition at one of the 2 days. And there are other impressive tiaras like the Vladimir tiara, or the Greville tiara or the George IV . diadem

I have to agree it's not very nice to remove them from an exhibit when there are so many other options available to them. There's no tiara drought in the British vaults. Unless they're looking to surprise us and have the PoWs wear the GGBI. Then I'm on board.
