Tiaras and Jewels guessing for upcoming events: 2024

Since it's a Sultan who's visiting, I expect to see the Queen wearing the Nine Provinces (full version)

If Princess Elisabeth attends: it would be the time for her to debut the Laurel Wreath Tiara

Much as I would love to see the Duchess of Brabant at the state banquet, I suspect it will not happen this time.

The King & Queen will attend the Royal Variety Show in London on Friday evening. Any guesses of what jewels the Queen may choose to wear? I am hoping the Queen debut's something substantial, and previously unseen: the Godman necklace, the Greville emerald necklace preciously used by QEQM or perhaps, the Kent Amethysts.

All of this would be great choices.

My guesses for the SV from Portugal to The Netherlands in December:

Queen Maxima: Ornate Pearl tiara
Princess Catharina-Amalia: Emerald Parure tiara

The Ornate Pearl Tiara would be an excellent choice for Maxima, but I don't think she is particularly fond of it. She has worn it only a handful of times in over a decade.

I hope that Catherine attends the SV from Qatar in December!
We now know that, unfortunately, the Princess of Wales will not be attending the state banquet for the Emir of Qatar next week.

As we get closer to the Qatar state banquet, I thought I would summarise what I think Queen Camilla's choices might be. That said, I do know she is very unpredictable in her jewellery choices these days, so I suspect this will almost entirely be wrong!

Potential choices:

1) Qatar multi-strand Pearl necklace, GD Vladimir tiara with pearls;

2) Qatar ruby and diamond necklace (I don't like the necklace, but she may think it is the right necklace to wear), Burmese Ruby tiara. Or she may choose to wear the Oriental Circlet with it; OR

3) The "serious-ice" option: The Kokoshnik comes out to play, with a serious diamond necklace. Contenders could be the City of London Fringe, the Coronation necklace or the Festoon.

I am also hoping for the welcome at Horse Guards, we get a new to Queen Camilla brooch. Perhaps the Dorset Bow or one of the Cullinans would be lovely.

It will be interesting to see… Camilla seems to favour smaller necklaces these days, so my guess will be the Qatari Ruby Necklace…

QEII always paired that necklace with either the Burmese Ruby Tiara or Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara, so my guess is either of these 2…

But my guess’ will probably be all wrong as usual…

For a daytime brooch i would love to finally see her wear QEQM’s Sapphire Corsage Brooch…

It's too bad; she always adds a note of glamour. IMO it would be better for someone else to greet the Emir, and for Kate to attend the banquet.
But of course her health must come first.

So only Camilla, Sophie, Anne and the Duchess of Gloucester to tiara watch for. I miss the days when there were lots of royal ladies, fast forward 10 years from now and we could be looking at Kate and Sophie tops, now that IS a sobering thought!

In 10 years Charlotte is 19 so she will likely attend too..

I think Anne will attend as long as possible and nothing will stop her

Can't see it, I'm sure William's children will all experience a fairly 'normal' existence until at least their mid 20's. I think he will want them to have a job of some sort, as he did in the air ambulance, and get peace to pursue personal relationships before official duties start.

I think George and Charlotte can attend a state banquet starting in their 20s if they get the chance. But everything will depend on whether William is already King at that point or not.

Conversations like this expose the error of slimming the family down too much. I can see William being a stickler for encouraging his children to have their own lives whilst they are young, whether he is King or not. Plus that may also be something they personally want. I am not a massive fan of the Yorks but I think it was a mistake by Charles to totally exclude Beatrice and Eugenie. Kate is mainly out of action and the youngest member of the family after her is almost 60, they need young royals participating and they are currently non existent.

I think by the time William is King the idea of “slimming down the monarchy” will look different. It has become a bit of an obsession for the media about Charles and as even Anne said, it was probably said in a time when there were more working royals.

By William is King I can actually see the wider family doing more to “help out” than they do now because it really will be William, Catherine and a few others and the idea of a smaller RF will be embedded and “the norm”. At the moment there is a bit of an obsession over who is a working royal, who isn’t etc because of two no ex working royals. In a decade or more that will have simmered down and it will be accepted the RF is smaller. I can see a similar repeat of what we saw at the BP garden party- William calling in support from the cousins for State Banquets etc. The reality is this is almost what was done with Prince Michael of Kent but he was titled whereas the changes made over the years mean most of William’s cousins aren’t HRHs. The line will always be drawn at them doing actual royal engagements, royal tours etc but I can well see them being called in to help out at bigger events, especially if it saves William’s children having to do it IMO.

So back to jewels- I can well see Anne’s tiaras going to State Banquets after she is gone.

We've waited since her cancer treatment ended...

I concur, I can't see William's kids being pushed into attending state events too soon.

I'd love to see Sophie wear the QM Diamond Bandeau (that was worn at the 2018 royal wedding) as it's a gorgeous tiara that deserves to see the light of day again. And if Catherine had been going, I would have loved to have seen her wear the emerald one that Eugenie wore for her wedding. Those two tiaras really need to be seen again in my lifetime IMO! And on a much more likely note, I'd love to see Camilla in any version of the Vladmir tiara. Anne can wear the Queen Mother’s Double Meander Tiara. Birgitta can wear the Honeysuckle tiara. There, that's sorted!

Since becoming Queen, she has worn a few "big" necklaces, including the Crown Rubies, the City of London Fringe, the George VI sapphires (3 times) and the Coronation necklace. Amongst the "smaller" necklaces, she has also worn the South African diamonds, the Queen Alexandra collet collier (x2) and her Aquamarine necklace. So that seems to be a fairly even split between the larger and the smaller necklaces.

I, too, would love to see the Greville emerald Kokoshnik appear again. I hope Catherine ends up using it.

As regards the Queen Mary bandeau, I was in two minds. Do we really want to deal with all the negativity that will come with it? On reflection, I think I am in @EllieCat's camp on this. Ignore it all, and have Sophie wear it. There will be noise for a few weeks, and the world will still be spinning after that. And it will give Harry something to put in his next book!

That’s possible yes, but i don’t see how they would be unable to live a fairly normal life (after what’s possible when you’re a child of the prince of wales) and at the same time attend incoming state visits, wich happens at most twice a year for the British RF, sometimes even less.

If someone should wear it then Sophie as the are no accusations to her from the Sussex camp. But somehow i have the feeling that she isn't into bandeau tiaras. Who knows perhaps it was already offered to her as loan be the late Queen

I agree, it should be possible, but the British royals definitely seem to have an in or out policy and the youngsters seem to be out until a certain age.

I don't believe there would be much negativity.
The tiara is simply another item in the Royal Collection, not owned by any particular person.
Someone should wear it...several someones, and at high-profile events, JMO.

Actually, the tiara is not owned by the Royal Collection but by His Majesty personally. But that said, I do agree, Sophie should get to use it.

If it's still in the vault, Russian sapphire bandeau always is another great option for Sophie (as I suggested many times here :p). Like Madeline her blue eyes look magnificent with blue stones.

Is that the tiara? I also hope we get to see her again in the future.

I hope that Sophie will wear another "new" tiara for the upcoming state banquet, so we can understand if the new reign is a "sharing jewellery reign". She should wear Queen Mary's diamond bandeau, and after that Catherine can borrow it too. Otherwise there will be too much negativity.
And as I said before I hope Queen Camilla will wear one of the two large diamond chokers, but for the Qatar visit probably one of the gifted suites of ruby/pearls.

I don't get the obsession with seeing Sophie in a new tiara all the time. IMO Anne wearing a tiara from the collection rather than her own would be an even clearer sign the new reign is all about share and share alike.

It will be interesting to see what jewels Camilla wears, any of her newer necklaces, suites etc and its a clear sign it was a gift from Qatar.
