Queen Silvia and Madeleine attended today World Childhood Foundation's board meeting at the Royal Palace.

On March 31, in a ceremony at the Royal Palace, The Queen received the Royal Patriotic Society's medal for significant educational deed for her work with the World Childhood Foundation.

Madeleine shared a photo of yesterday's board meeting, stating:

Child sexual abuse occurs in all countries and cultures. Globally, one in five girls and one in seven boys are abused during childhood – figures we must never turn a blind eye to. But abuse can be prevented. That is why we continue to invest in innovations, methods and partnerships that make a difference for children around the world. After yesterday's board meeting, I feel deeply inspired by the power and change that @worldchildhoodfoundation stands for. There are many clouds of concern for children, but also a strong will to act – and that gives hope.

Yesterday, Princess Madeleine together with the World Childhood Foundation, visited the Police and departments working on internet-related child sexual abuse and international child sexual exploitation.

Report: Children who are abused online are not caught
Sexual abuse is sexual abuse – regardless of where it happens. But children who are abused online do not receive the same care, support and right to redress as others. In a new report, we show how the serious consequences of online sexual abuse are downplayed – and that not all children are allowed to benefit from society’s protection.
Globally, one in five girls and one in seven boys are sexually abused during their childhood – and the proportion of internet-related abuse is increasing significantly. Despite this, the report "Sprickor i systemet: Professionellas erfarenheter av stöd till barn utsatta för sexuella övergrepp online" (Cracks in the system: Professionals’ experiences of supporting children who are sexually abused online) shows that children who are sexually abused online are still treated as if their experiences were something “different”...
Police visits with HRH Princess Madeleine
In connection with the launch of the report, Childhood and Princess Madeleine visit the Police departments that handle internet-related child sexual abuse and international child sexual exploitation. The purpose of the visit is to gain insight into how the Police works to protect these children – and what role civil society can play.

By founding the World Childhood Foundation, the Queen broke the silence on child sexual abuse and took a global leadership role that has changed the lives of countless children around the world. Childhood has established itself as an influential player in the international arena, and is today a strong voice for vulnerable and vulnerable children.”

Madeleine shared a message and photos of this week's annual meeting:

This week, the Childhood family from all four offices gathered in Stockholm for our annual meeting. We explored projects and initiatives that drive systemic change and reflected on our collective impact — past, present, and future — in combating child sexual abuse.

Childhood continues to advance a field that urgently needs more attention — so that every child can grow up free from sexual abuse and exploitation.

Nominations for the Childhood Prize 2025 are open. This year's prize gives a spotlight on professionals in the legal system who protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation. Anyone can nominate a person who makes a difference. The jury includes among others HRH Princess Madeleine, Carin Götblad and Cecilia Lundin, Handelsbanken. The winner will be announced in December and will receive SEK 50,000.

Queen Silvia visited the Barnahus Day and Barnahus Linköping's 20th anniversary celebration yesterday.
She said at her speech among other things:
"... Linköping emerged as a brave pioneer and with the support of my foundation, the World Childhood Foundation, the operation was built up. In 2005, I had the great joy of inaugurating Sweden's first Barnahus here in Linköping.
A lot has happened since then. The Barnahus model has spread throughout the country and today there are over 30 Barnahus in Sweden. Childhood has also taken the model further internationally - to Germany, Moldova, Poland, among others, and in the midst of a raging war, several Barnahus were opened in Ukraine. Just a few weeks ago, I was visited by the Prosecutor General of Brazil, who came here to gain inspiration and knowledge. I look forward to soon visiting the first floating Barnahus in Brazil, a large boat that will be able to reach vulnerable children on inaccessible islands in Marajó in northern Brazil."

Short video:
On Wednesday, Barnahus Linköping celebrates its 20th anniversary with a visit from Queen Silvia. During the day, the focus is on how young children who have been exposed to violence are often left without adequate care – a problem that both experts and the royal family want to draw attention to.
The Linköping Children's Home opened in 2005 with support from the Queen's Foundation.

On Wednesday, Queen Silvia visited Linköping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Barnahus. Barnahus works to help children who have suffered violence or sexual abuse. The Queen's organization "Childhood" was a major reason for the founding of Barnahus. The inspiration came from Iceland.

Madeleine about her attendance at the 5th anniversary of the Childhood-Haus at the University Hospital Düsseldorf last week:

It was a great honor to take part in the congress marking the 5th anniversary of the Childhood-Haus at the University Hospital Düsseldorf.

A Childhood-Haus offers children who have experienced violence or abuse safety, care, and hope — bringing together professionals from medicine, psychology, social work, the judiciary, and law enforcement to protect them.

Düsseldorf is one of eleven Childhood-Haus across Germany, all doing remarkable work to strengthen child protection. It was inspiring to meet so many dedicated people behind this model’s success!

With the concept now included in the federal coalition agreement in Germany, it’s encouraging to see it gaining national recognition — and to know that even more children will have access to the help and support they need and have a right to.

Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf in Brazil:
The Government of Pará, Childhood Brazil and the CNMP have formed a partnership to combat child violence in Marajó
The government of Pará celebrated the signing of the Protocol of Intentions of the Safe Childhood Boat Project, aimed at protecting children and adolescents victims of violence in the Marajó archipelago. The action is the result of a partnership of the State government, the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) and Childhood Brazil, founded by Queen Silvia, which is part of the World Childhood Foundation. The ceremony was attended by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
Queen Silvia emphasized that collaborative work between governments and institutions is essential to expand access to support policies for children living along the riverbanks: “The boat highlights the attention and care given to those who live on the banks of the rivers in Marajó. It recognizes that all children, in any territory, have the same right to live with dignity. I want to express my deepest gratitude.”

Video at governor Helder Barbalho's Instagram:
"It's an honor to welcome King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia Sommerlath of Sweden. Together, joining forces for the future of our children in Marajó, with the Safe Childhood Boat project.
This partnership brings care, attention, and protection to riverside communities, ensuring that more children grow up with dignity and opportunities."
