Queen Silvia gave a keynote speech

On the 21st and 22nd of March, the Vatican is hosting a conference entitled ‘Risks and Opportunities of AI for Children’, organised by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the World Childhood Foundation and the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Queen Silvia, 81, "serves as an example for all of us that you are not too old, we're not too little tech savvy to care about AI" and seek ways it can help protect children, Holmberg said.

The Palace about Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine's attendance at the seminar at the Vatican:

Queen Silvia and Madeleine attended today World Childhood Foundation's board meeting at the Royal Palace.

On March 31, in a ceremony at the Royal Palace, The Queen received the Royal Patriotic Society's medal for significant educational deed for her work with the World Childhood Foundation.

Madeleine shared a photo of yesterday's board meeting, stating:

Child sexual abuse occurs in all countries and cultures. Globally, one in five girls and one in seven boys are abused during childhood – figures we must never turn a blind eye to. But abuse can be prevented. That is why we continue to invest in innovations, methods and partnerships that make a difference for children around the world. After yesterday's board meeting, I feel deeply inspired by the power and change that @worldchildhoodfoundation stands for. There are many clouds of concern for children, but also a strong will to act – and that gives hope.

Yesterday, Princess Madeleine together with the World Childhood Foundation, visited the Police and departments working on internet-related child sexual abuse and international child sexual exploitation.

Report: Children who are abused online are not caught
Sexual abuse is sexual abuse – regardless of where it happens. But children who are abused online do not receive the same care, support and right to redress as others. In a new report, we show how the serious consequences of online sexual abuse are downplayed – and that not all children are allowed to benefit from society’s protection.
Globally, one in five girls and one in seven boys are sexually abused during their childhood – and the proportion of internet-related abuse is increasing significantly. Despite this, the report "Sprickor i systemet: Professionellas erfarenheter av stöd till barn utsatta för sexuella övergrepp online" (Cracks in the system: Professionals’ experiences of supporting children who are sexually abused online) shows that children who are sexually abused online are still treated as if their experiences were something “different”...
Police visits with HRH Princess Madeleine
In connection with the launch of the report, Childhood and Princess Madeleine visit the Police departments that handle internet-related child sexual abuse and international child sexual exploitation. The purpose of the visit is to gain insight into how the Police works to protect these children – and what role civil society can play.
