King Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía will preside today over the commemoration of the XXV anniversary of the Constitutional Court. The act will take place in that institution and will count on the presence of the Princes of Asturias and the president of the Government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

This celebration occurs after the president of the Constitutional Court, Maria Emilia Casas, demanded a reform of the Statutory Law of the Constitutional Court (LOTC), with the purpose of delimiting the requirements to access the protection of this institution, and thus to shorten the time of response.

The King remembered the work of the magistrates and all its presidents, since Manuel Garcia-Pelayo (who already passed away) to Maria Emilia Casas, with a special note to Francisco Tomás y Valiente (who was assassinated by ETA).

"Justice, Freedom, Concord " is the motto of the Constitutional Court; three concepts that the King wishes that will always serve as currency and inspiration to whichever “citizens, public institutions, independent communities or municipal corporations approach this high Court, in demand of constitutional justice".

I am quite a fan of Letizia's and her professional attitude toward her job. But I think the outfit today is a little low cut for a daytime engagement.

does anyone know what the King has done to his eye? It looks cut or bruised underneath....

Great pics. Felipe seems to look a bit sleepy, maybe because of very exhausting Monday and "cena de gala" with Columbian president after it.

Thank you so much for doing your magic, Pdas! ;)

Yesterday, I saw a programme on Biography Channel at 9.30 p.m. about the Spanish Royal Family. In 30 minutes they made a profile of the kings and their sons. I don’t know if they are going to repeat again this week but it was great to see more precisely their lives.

They said lots of things, such as: their wedding ring were made by an ancient Greek coin that were convert in two wedding rings to Juan Carlos and Sofia; that Elena was the sensitive of the family, Cristina was the sporty and funniest and Felipe was the one that was more closer to the mother and talks 5 languages.

It was said also in that programme that Juan Carlos don’t want to be grandpa before 60. The first grandson (Frolian) was born 6 month after Juan Carlos made his 60 years.

Curiosities:

Did you know that the kings have 25 dogs and 12 cats? That the kings of Spain were during 13 years princes of the Asturias? That Juan Carlos and Sofia have each other, 2 employees who help them in the morning? That in the Zarzuela works 160 persons incluiding dogs' trainers, etc.? That Irene has her apartment herself in the Zarzuela? That the prince Tchokotua " Zu ", intimate friend of the king, helped him to have the palace of Marivent, without any cost?

Where the things that i read about the SRF. (http://andorra.indymedia.org/print.php?id=647 )

The Kings were not Princes of Asturias. The Prince's title of Asturias is reserved to the inheritor to the Wreath, and in this epoch in Spain there was a dictatorship. The Title that they were using was that of Princes of Spain.

i'm sorry. I didn't know. But i have your help in this matter. I like much more the title Princes of Spain.:)

The Princes' title of Asturias is also very nice, is a historical title joined the history of Spain and her monarchy.
The Princes' title of Spain, probably for this pro-Franco recollection to my how that not like me much.

I think this is a picture of the Queen & Cristina in Barcelona visiting the newborn son of Princess Alexia of Greece.
